Aljamain Sterling believes he matches up very well against Henry Cejudo.

Streaking UFC bantamweight contender Aljamain Sterling is doing everything in his power to secure a title shot vs. Henry Cejudo.

The 29-year-old shot down Cejudo’s UFC 238 post-fight callout of bantamweight legend Dominick Cruz and, in a recent interview with MMA Fighting’s Luke Thomas, ‘Funk Master’ said he has ‘all the talent in the world’ to compete with — and beat — the newly-crowned bantamweight champion.

“I think I possess all the talent in the world to compete with Henry,” Sterling said (transcript via Cole Shelton of MMA News). “Henry is a tough dude, man. I think he is the pound-for-pound greatest combat athlete today. No one has done what he’s been able to accomplish. But, I will say this, when I beat him, ‘Henry Cedoodo,’ what does that make me? The pound-for-pound king. So that’s what I’m looking to get for my next title. So go out there, beat up Henry and I think I’ll be able to take that title.”

Sterling, who recently outclassed Pedro Munhoz to crack the UFC’s top-two bantamweight rankings, believes he has all the physical attributes to beat ‘The Messenger’.

“I’m too long, I’m too rangy, I can box, I can kick, I can wrestle, I can do jiu-jitsu. So where does he win? I like my chances in that one.”

Sterling is going to have to continue stating his case for a title shot, as two-division champ Cejudo seems more interested in becoming a ‘legend killer’ than defending his bantamweight title against a top contender.
