Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, hosts a top-notch Lightweight slugfest this Saturday (Sept. 14, 2019) when Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone looks to rebound against the human highlight reel, Justin Gaethje, in UFC Fight Night 158’s main event. The ESPN+-streamed show also includes a pivotal Light Heavyweight clash between finishers Glover Teixeira and Nikita Krylov, as well as the return of Todd Duffee against “Contender Series” alum, Jeff Hughes.
UFC Fight Night 158 has serious potential for extreme violence; therefore, let’s see if we can’t get a bit of dough out of it, too.
What Went Wrong at UFC 242?
Man, that Lerone Murphy pick almost worked! He was just one ill-advised body kick away from being a majority decision win. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and Zak Cummings’ reluctance to let his hands go against Omari Akhmedov resulted in a net loss. We’ve been stuck between $900 and $1,000 for months, but I’ve a good feeling about this one.

Marcin Tybura (-115) vs. Augusto Sakai (-105)
Miles Johns (-130) vs. Cole Smith (+110)
Marvin Vettori (-300) vs. Andrew Sanchez (+250)

Thoughts: Augusto Sakai isn’t an underdog at this point, sadly, but he’s still worth an investment alongside this week’s star attraction, Chas Skelly.
Marcin Tybura is 1-3 in his last four fights, suffering two knockout losses along the way, and was anything but impressive in his victory over the husk of Stefan Struve. Sakai figures to be at least 20 pounds bigger than him and has the takedown defense to force prolonged striking engagements, in which his power and durability advantages give him a decided edge. Plus, despite his size, he might have the cardio advantage, making his power an even larger threat as the fight progresses.
I like the big Brazilian to keep his win streak going.
In Jordan Griffin’s last fight against Dan Ige, he struggled mightily against a gritty, technically superior wrestler. Skelly fits that same bill, and his penchant for lethal chokes looks like a potent counter for Griffin’s all-action offense. “The Native Psycho’s” only real chance at victory lies in out-lasting Skelly, but he doesn’t have that same level of debilitating offense as those who’ve legitimately beaten “The Scrapper” in the past. Indeed, Skelly as an underdog is an absolute steal.

Thoughts: Todd Duffee ending a four-year hiatus against a durable, well-rounded Heavyweight with a quality gas tank sounds like a recipe for trouble. The last time we saw “Duffman,” he got countered into oblivion by Frank Mir after throwing one of the ugliest hooks in recent memory; that inability to maintain composure bodes ill against a man in Hughes who can ostensibly take his best shot and keep on throwing. In other words, fluffy beats fit once again.
