UFC 241 shook up the official rankings pretty good.
UFC 241 had an amazing main card and was very high on the relevancy scale to boot. With one new champion, a new contender in the mix at middleweight, and the return of Nate Diaz, there were a lot of changes pretty much everywhere in the rankings, including at pound-for-pound. Daniel Cormier had been the highest-ranked fighter in the world P4P, but his decisive loss to Stipe Miocic changed all that.
Here’s a look at all the changes coming out of the big PPV.
P4P – DC fell a huge six spots to seven. Jon Jones is now back on top of the P4P rankings. This means that Khabib Nurmagomedov is now at two, and Henry Cejudo is up one to three. Miocic climbed a big seven spots to four upon getting his belt back. Max Holloway fell one to six. Dustin Poirier and Kamaru Usman fell one each to eight and nine. Robert Whittaker is down two to 11.
Heavyweight – Stipe’s the champ again. Cormier is the number one contender. Pretty simple.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Paulo Costa’s huge, exciting win over Yoel Romero vaulted him up six spots into the two position and likely earned him a title shot. Romero dropped one to three. Kelvin Gastelum, Jack Hermansson, Jacare Souza, and Chris Weidman all fell a spot each to four through seven respectively.
Welterweight – Nate enters the ranking at seven following his decisive win over Anthony Pettis. Santiago Ponzibibbio is up one to eight. Stephen Thompson drops two to nine. Pettis drops large, down five spots to 12. Robbie Lawler, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, and Vicente Luque fall one each to 13 through 15.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – Mirsac Bektic and Ryan Hall flip-flop the 14 and 15 spots.
Bantamweight – Sandhagen is up six spots to three after defeating perennial contender Raphael Assuncao. Assuncao drops two spots to five. Pedro Munhoz, Dominick Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, and Jimmie Rivera all all down one each to six through nine.
Flyweight – Ryan Benoit falls from a tie for 11 to take over the 12 spot on his own.
Women’s Bantamweight – Sijara Eubanks is down one spot to 14.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
