The weekly UFC rankings update has been released following last week’s UFC Wichita. As expected, there are some noticeable changes going on in the heavyweight division.

Former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos jumps up to the No. 3 spot after defeating Derrick Lewis in the main event. “The Black Beast” fell to No. 5 as a result of his loss.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Anthony Rocco Martin cracked the welterweight top 15 with his victory over Sérgio Moraes. But the most perplexing non-movement in this week’s rankings has to be Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. The fact that he defeated Curtis Millender by submission in last weekend’s co-main event to notch his seventh straight win yet he fails to move even step up the rankings is confounding.

Per UFC.com, here is how the official rankings work.

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
