The “Countdown” show for the highly-anticipated UFC 266 pay-per-view (PPV) event is here, giving you all the past and present drama surrounding Alex Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega, plus Valentina Shevchenko vs. Lauren Murphy, and Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler 2.

The UFC 266 Countdown show is out and it is fire!

It’s been an unusual amount of time since our last UFC pay-per-view … usually the promotion rolls these things out to us at a steady clip of one per month, but this time it will have been SEVEN WEEKS between UFC 265 on August 7th and UFC 266 on September 25th. But good things come to those who wait: UFC 266 features not one but two title fights, plus a pretty baller co-co-main event.

All three fights are featured and broken down in this Countdown to UFC 266 episode, starting with the main event between champ Alexander Volkanovski and challenger Brian Ortega for the 145 pound strap. This is a bout a long time coming, originally scheduled for UFC 260 in March 2021 but derailed after Volkanovski contracted COVID-19. After some scary hospital time and some bedrest and a whole season of The Ultimate Fighter, Alexander “The Great” is ready to defend his title, and it should be a wild fight against a re-energized Brian Ortega.

In the co-main, women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is looking to continue her dominance at 125 pounds against challenger Lauren Murphy, who has racked up 5 wins in a row to earn her title shot.

And bringing up the mid-card will be a wild fight between Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler, a rematch of their classic 2004 fight. For those looking to get a look into the camps of both Diaz and Lawler, this UFC 266 Countdown show is essential viewing.

So make sure to take a look and tune back into MMAMania.com on September 25th for all the news, updates, highlights, and analysis you could want for this big return to pay-per-view.
