Zingano, 36, is just 1-4 dating back to 2014.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight, Cat Zingano, filed an appeal with California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) in hopes of overturning her technical knockout loss to Megan Anderson at the UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV) event last month in Inglewood.
“Alpha” suffered damage to her iris, as well as her retina and was unable to continue fighting when the towering Aussie uncorked a leg kick that put her big toe directly into her opponent’s eye (video). Zingano’s lawyer, Nathan Gable, is hoping semantics and fear mongering will help their cause.
Which is a far cry from “shit happens.”
Gable claims the language of the Unified Rules of mixed martial arts (MMA) regarding eye gouging is “non exhaustive” and requires a legal interpretation. In addition, his fear that not including the big toe of doom in said language would encourage other fighters to try to use a similar tactic to end their fights, causing rampant blindness inside the Octagon.

Zingano (10-4) will appear before the commission in February to plead her case, according to the report. Anderson, meanwhile, is not opposed to a featherweight rematch, should the promotion deem one necessary.
