The MMA World is full of curious moments, but this one will make your day. An MMA fighter who was sure he didn’t get KO’d, argued the referee into re-starting the fight.
An MMA fight in Thailand was supposed to end with a convincing KO, but the local fighter just was adamant he hadn’t lost. After a short, but intense debate, referee allowed the defeated fighter to come back to the action. The video was released by UFC fighter Cat Zingano who tagged fighter Caleb Lally (6-3), an MMA fighter from New Zealand, currently living and fighting in Thailand.
As Zingano followed up in the comments, Lally fought his opponent three times that evening. He scored consecutive wins, finishing the last one via submission.
How about this TKO!? LMAO!!!!!! #onlyinthailand #myfriendCalebLally @caleblally
Just a reminder that while the MMA in the US may have lost a lot of its wild-west vibe, it can still be something of a crazy sport in less developed and less regulated markets.

Although Hendricks had troubles with his training camp prior to UFC Fight Night 82, “Big Rigg” gave full credit to Thompson for his 1st round KO.
Johny Hendricks came into UFC Fight Night 82 in great physical shape last night, but the Texan had troubles back at home with Team Takedown. “Big Rigg” split from his long-time team and changed management, after learning from the Texas-based squad since the beginning of his MMA career.
It caused complications for Hendricks — head coach Marc Laimon was absent from his corner — but the former UFC welterweight champion didn’t use it to excuse his loss.
“Stephen Thompson was just a better man tonight,” Hendricks said at the post-fight press conference (h/t Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting). “What can I say? He performed. I hesitated. I don’t hesitate usually. A lot of it goes into preparation. I switched camps and all these other things. But no excuses. He was just a better man.”
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson came into the bout sharp and prepared, evading most of Hendricks’ strikes and countering with a catalog of punches and kicks. The Karate ace also fended off a takedown attempt and highlighted the evolution of his grappling. Thompson’s only loss came when he was dragged to the ground and mauled by Matt Brown in the third round at UFC 145.
Hendricks was stunned by Thompson’s elusiveness and admitted he fell right into his trap.
“In training camp, whenever I closed the distance on them, (training partners would) always fire back,” Hendricks said. “He didn’t fire back. He would continue to move. And then all of a sudden it was like, oh c’mon. I wanted him to fight, I wanted him to fight, I wanted him to fight. But I’m playing into his game.”
Prior to Fight Night, Hendricks’ only losses in the past five years came to former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre and current champ Robbie Lawler, both of which were controversial. Thompson is the only fighter to KO the 32-year-old and will likely use the victory as ammunition for a shot at the 170 lbs. title.
Hendricks is still listed as #2 and Wonderboy as #8 in the official UFC rankings but Thomspon is likely to catapult to the top of the division after picking up his sixth consecutive win.

UFC 196 could be a truly historic event, as featherweight champion Conor McGregor moves up to lightweight to battle Rafael dos Anjos in the main event. The brand new official promo video is here…
Where will you be on March 5, 2016? If you’ve even heard of mixed martial arts, the chances are you’ll know about the stacked event going down on that long awaited date. The main event features a highly anticipated lightweight championship bout, as Conor McGregor puts the featherweight division on hold to face his bitter rival and lightweight boss, Rafael dos Anjos. Ever since the ‘Go Big’ presser last November, the two elite combatants have been at loggerheads.
For Rafael dos Anjos, it’s a chance to avenge his countryman Jose Aldo, whom ‘The Notorious’ destroyed with a single punch at UFC 194. The 13-second spectacle was one of the craziest moments in modern MMA, and was very similar to another fighter on UFC 196’s schedule, Holly Holm.
Love him or hate him, it’s clear that the mixed martial arts world is fixated with Conor McGregor. Both his antics inside and outside the UFC octagon are constantly followed, and his role as the biggest MMA heel in Jon Jones’ place has been a smooth transition.
His value to the promotion is unquestionable, and they’ve really pulled out all the stops for the official UFC 196 promo video, which has been gathering some serious heat.

Who’s going to win today’s Super Bowl, the Denver Broncos or Carolina Panthers? UFC fighters make their picks, including last night’s headliners Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson.
Today is the historic 50th Super Bowl from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, which is nowhere near San Francisco but is nonetheless the home of the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL’s championship game, often called the UFC title fight of American football, will be contested between the AFC’s Denver Broncos and the NFC’s Carolina Panthers.
Carolina is seeking to become the 20th franchise to win a Super Bowl, while Denver is aiming to erase memories of a 43-8 blowout loss to the Seahawks two years ago and win their first championship since 1999. The Panthers have MVP winner Cam Newton at the helm at QB, to go along with a fierce, turnover-forcing defense. They finished the regular season 15-1 and are the 5.5 point favorites to finish 18-1. For Denver, this could be the final game of Peyton Manning’s illustrious career. It’s been a rough season for him, but he’s either going to retire with as many Super Bowl rings as his brother Eli, or end with just 1 Super Bowl in 4 tries. The Broncos defense is the consensus best in the league, but they’re up against an offensive juggernaut with the most dangerous dual-threat QB in the NFL.
UFC fighters, including several from last night’s Fight Night event in Las Vegas, submitted their predictions for Super Bowl 50, and you can watch them all at the top of the page. If you’re curious as to the final tally, here’s the full breakdown:

The UFC Fight Night 82: Hendricks vs Thompson Reebok payroll was almost half that of UFN 81: Dillashaw vs Cruz. This time, the top earning fighters got $15 000, including Johny Hendricks, Roy Nelson, Joseph Benavidez and Mike Pyle. Stephen Thompson, who scored spectacular KO win over Johny Hendricks in the main event of the evening, got only $5000 from UFC apparel sponsor.
The complete list of UFC Fight Night Reebok payments is available below (via MMAJunkie.com):
Another pair of fighters weren’t initially mentioned by MMAJunkie post: Misha Cirkunov and Alex Nicholson. But according to their tier (2 fights in UFC by Cirkunov and 1 by Nicholson) their Reebok payout should be $2500.
