Ohio commission turns down Sims vs. Sylvia at “Adrenaline MMA IV” (Updated)

The Ohio Athletic Commission has turned down a proposed heavyweight
bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (25-6) and
“The Ultimate Fighter 10” alumnus Wes Sims (22-13-1) at the
as-yet-unnanounced “Adrenaline MMA V” event on March 20 in Youngstown,
Ohio.
 
Ohio Athletic Commission
executive director Bernie Profato ruled the bout “non-competitive” and
informed Adrenaline promoter Monte Cox that it would not be sanctioned.
 
Cox confirmed
the change when contacted by MMAjunkie.com.

October win under the DREAM banner when he meets 10-time UFC veteran
Josh Neer (27-9-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) in May.

Bellator officials announced the new matchup today, though specifics on the date of the bout have to be released.

The contest is the first “Super Fight” announced by the organization.
Bellator plans on utilizing its first-season champions in
“non-tournament, non-title catchweight” fights as they wait for new
contenders to emerge from the season two tournaments.

A WEC 47 featherweight matchup between Courtney Buck (6-2 MMA, 0-1 WEC) and Fredson Paixao (8-3 MMA, 0-1 WEC) that was previously reported by MMAjunkie.com was today made official by the fight promotion.

Buck steps in for an injured Bryan Caraway, who was originally expected to face Paixao.

With the addition, the full card for “WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz” is now complete.
