Aaron Pico is ready to attempt to snap his current two-fight losing skid. A source close to the situation confirms to LowKickMMA that Pico and Daniel Carey have verbally agreed to fight at Bellator 238.
No fight contracts have been signed as of this writing. Bellator 238 goes down from Inglewood, California on January 25. The news was first reported by ESPN. The 23-year-old Pico comes off a second-round TKO loss to Adam Borics. It was his second consecutive defeat after being knocked out by Henry Corrales in January.
Now, he takes on Carey, who is 3-2 under the Bellator banner. In his last outing, Carey pulled off an upset submission win over the heavy-handed Gaston Bolanos at Bellator 226. Carey looks to pull off what would be yet another massive upset finish when he takes on Pico in January.
We’ll keep you updated as more bouts continue to be announced for Bellator 238.

Famed mixed martial arts (MMA) manager Ali Abdelaziz has inked another notable fighter to his Dominance MMA team.
According to Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, Bellator featherweight star Aaron Pico has signed on with Abdelaziz and Dominance. Abdelaziz offered a brief statement on signing Pico.
“Aaron has so much raw talent, one of the most talented fighters I’ve ever seen. He will become Bellator champion but it will be the right way.”
Pico has seen quite a bit of struggle in his young MMA career. He came into Bellator as a highly-touted prospect, expected to make waves in the featherweight division. Instead, his professional debut was over in just 24 seconds with a submission loss. After that, Pico saw success with a four-fight win streak, winning all via stoppage in the first round.
That win streak came to an end against Henry Corrales at Bellator 214 in January. Pico was knocked out in the first round of their matchup in Inglewood. He returned earlier this summer in June against Ádám Borics at Bellator 222, only to be knocked out again in the second round with a flying knee.
It will be interesting to see how the 22-year-old responds coming off back-to-back knockout losses.

Many noticed that one of the promotion’s most notable names, Aaron Pico, was left off the tournament. Pico was hyped as a mixed martial arts (MMA) prodigy heading into his professional debut, only to be defeated under the Bellator banner via submission in 24 seconds.
Pico was able to regroup and embark on an impressive four-fight win streak, before getting knocked out by Henry Corrales at Bellator 214 in January. In his previous fight at Bellator 222, Pico was again defeated. This time in dynamic fashion at the hands of Ádám Borics via a flying knee.
After back-to-back vicious knockout losses, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker explained at a recent media day why he left Pico off the Featherweight Grand Prix (via MMA Junkie):
“With Aaron, we’re going to meet with his manager either this weekend or next week,” Coker said. “I always felt like after his last fight in New York, let’s take a beat back. He’s a great kid. We have a lot of respect for him. We think he’s going to still come back and be great, but I think it’s time to take a beat.
“Let him train and let him get through this process. He would be fighting as early as Sept. 7 in eight weeks coming off that fight in New York. I think he’ll be back, it’s just a matter of time.”
What do you think about Coker’s decision to leave Pico off the tournament? Do you think he made the right call?
