Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of Kayla Harrison claims the Olympic gold medalist is Ronda Rousey on steroids.

Harrison is set to make her UFC debut on Saturday at UFC 300 against former champion Holly Holm. It’s an intriguing matchup and heading into the bout, she is a sizeable betting favorite, as a win over Holm could secure her a title shot.

Ultimately, Ali Abdelaziz is confident his client will get a big win over Holly Holm, as he believes Kayla Harrison’s rise will be bigger than Ronda Rousey, which is why he says Harrison is Rousey on steroids.

“She will make weight and listen, at the end of the day, just tune in,” Abdelaziz said in an interview with Kevin Iole (via MMAMania).. “She will be one of the biggest stars, she does what she have to do against Holly Holm. She’s very tough, very seasonal, she’ll go there and smash her. She’ll get a title shot, become a UFC champion. We have a Ronda Rousey on steroids, that’s what we have.”

If Harrison does finish Holm it would be a statement-making win, and the odds are suggesting she will get a big win at UFC 300.

Ali Abdelaziz Not Worried About Kayla Harrison’s weight cut

However, there are some concerns about Kayla Harrison’s weight, as she is dropping down to 135lbs. But, Abdelaziz says the weight won’t be an issue at all.

“That’s the best thing overall for her life as an individual. Losing all this extra weight, feeling good about yourself, looking great,” he said. “She look like amazing and healthier. Right? She’s close to weight, she’s not far from it. She have a lot of muscles,” he added. “And people who lose weight? Water inside the muscle. People who are muscular, it’s a lot easier to lose weight than people who have fat. She’s got a great team around her, Mike Brown, a lot of other people. Everybody, don’t worry about her weight.

“Everybody using her weight as excuse to not fight her or not going to fight if she miss weight or whatever. At the end of the day, she’s a two-time Olympic champion, two-time PFL champion, never missed weight, make 145 during COVID in her room, you know what I’m saying?,” Abdelaziz continued.

If Kayla Harrison can make 135lbs and beat Holm, a title shot could very well be next.

Islam Makhachev’s Manager Says Justin Gaethje deserves the next shot at UFC lightweight gold: ‘he Earned it’

Islam Makhachev and Justin Gaethje

Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of reigning UFC lightweight world champion Islam Makhachev, believes Justin Gaethje is the next man in line for a shot at the 155-pound crown.

Originally, Makhachev was scheduled to defend his title against former titleholder Charles Oliveira at UFC 294 in October. Unfortunately, ‘Do Bronx’ suffered a cut whilst training, forcing him out of the highly anticipated rematch. In his place, Alexander Volkanovski stepped in on 11 days’ notice and ended up suffering a brutal first-round knockout. Many fight fans assumed that the UFC would simply reschedule Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2 for 2024, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Last week, Dana White announced that Oliveira would return at UFC 300 on April 13 for a clash with rising contender Arman Tsarukyan. The winner will presumably move on to face the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ later this year.

In the meantime, Abdelaziz believes that Gaethje should be the man challenging Makhachev for lightweight gold.

“I think it’s obvious, man Justin Gaethje… He’s on a two fight winning streak, phenomenal fighter,” Abdelaziz told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in a recent interview. “One of the greatest entertainment fighters we [have] ever seen. He have the BMF title now. But you know him and Islam, it’s a history, you know. He fought Khabib, now he’s fighting Khabib’s protege and he earned it, you know, he earned it.”

After earning impressive back-to-back wins against Rafael Fiziev and Dustin Poirier, ‘The Highlight’ is considered by many to be the rightful No. 1 contender.

“Justin Gaethje is a guy [who has] never been given what he wants,” Abdelaziz added. “He earned it with sweat and blood and tear inside the cage. Islam is very interested to fight in him. But Islam you know he did this quote in the PI, he have to hold on to it, he said, ‘Doesn’t matter who when and how I’ll fight anybody they give me.”

When Will We See Islam Makhachev Back in the octagon?

As for when we could see Islam Makhachev back inside the Octagon, that’s a whole other issue. He hoped to defend his title ahead of Ramadan which runs from March 10 through April 9. With UFC 299 emanating from Miami, Florida on March 9, the timing appeared to line up perfectly.

However, the promotion has already announced that Sean O’Malley would defend his bantamweight title that night against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in the evening’s headliner.

The deal with Islam was to fight on March 9,” Abdelaziz said. “Of course, the UFC has a headliner already with Sean O’Malley. They said he’s the main event. They said we could fight in February, but it was too close his fight. The one he just fought [against Alexander Volkanovski]. It is what it is. He’s just going to wait for Ramadan or maybe the UFC will call tomorrow. O’Malley’s out, we need Islam, and then he can fight March 9. Islam is always training. Always in shape. He’s a professional.”

With Ramadan ending days before UFC 300 goes down in Las Vegas, Makhachev may very well sit on the sidelines until a winner emerges between Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan, meaning Gaethje may not get his shot until late 2024 or even early 2025.

Kamaru Usman touted as UFC boss Dana White’s ‘Favorite’ fighter: ‘He’s the greatest welterweight of all time’

Kamaru Usman tipped as Dana White's favorite fighter he's the greatest UFC welterweight of all time

Former undisputed welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman has been touted as UFC CEO, Dana White’s favorite fighter according to his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, who also touted the former pound-for-pound number one as the greatest welterweight fighter to ever compete.

Usman, a former undisputed welterweight champion and former pound-for-pound number one ranked fighter under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined since October of last year, suffering his third consecutive loss in a razor-thin majority decision loss to Khamzat Chimaev in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The defeat came as Usman’s second consecutively of the year, having dropped a title trilogy rubber match to Leon Edwards in another majority decision loss in London back in March.

Kamaru Usman backed as Dana White’s favorite fighter

And reportedly coy on his fighting future according to his Dominance MMA manager, Abdelaziz, Usman has been labelled as the above-mentioned UFC leader, White’s favorite fighter.

“Dana White’s favorite fighter is Kamaru Usman,” Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN MMA. “100 percent. Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and Kamaru Usman. I never seen Dana give more respect to them than these guys. Because, they never choose opponents, they don’t care who they fight – and Kamaru especially.”

“And Kamaru is going to go down as the greatest welterweight of all time,” Abdelaziz explained. “He’s top-five [fighter of all-time] – one of the greatest ever, in my opinion. And his behavior: Young guys, watch Kamaru Usman’s career. Kamaru made plenty of money, not being just a great fighter, being on time when nobody [else] wanted [to fight].”

Without a victory since November 2021, Usman’s most recent win came in the form of a unanimous decision win over recent UFC 296 headliner, Colby Covington in the pair’s undisputed welterweight title fight rematch – landing his fifth and final successful defense of the crown.

Islam Makhachev vs. Justin Gaethje Dubbed as ‘The fight to make’ for the uFC lightweight championship

Islam Makhachev

Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of reigning lightweight world champion Islam Makhachev, believes Justin Gaethje should receive the next shot at the 155-pound crown.

Originally, Makahchev was slated to defend his title against Charles Oliveira in a rematch at UFC 294 in October, but ‘Do Bronx’ was forced to withdraw from the bout after sustaining a cut whilst training. The ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ went on to defend his title definitively against short-notice replacement Alexander Volkanovski at the event.

Many assumed that the UFC would simply rebook Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2 for some time in 2024, but if Abdelaziz gets his wish, the promotion will move on from that matchup for something a little more fresh.

“@MAKHACHEVMMA vs @Justin_Gaethje Next, this is the fight to make,” Abdelaziz wrote on X.

Abdelaziz followed that up with another post that served as a warning to the potential title challenger.

“@Justin_Gaethje you will never be the same after you fight him remember that.”

Islam Makhachev Agrees with his manager

The champ echoed similar sentiments in a recent interview, making it clear that he is no longer interested in any rematches.

“To be honest, I’ve already told [UFC] I’m not interested in rematches,” he said. “Because if you want to [be a champion] in a good way, you have to add new names. There is [Justin] Gaethje, who I would say deserved a fight. I think it would be more interesting to fight him.”

Of course, with Ali Abdelaziz representing both Islam Makhachev and Justin Gaethje, he stands to cash in no matter the outcome.
