UFC heavyweight Andrei Arlovski is not planning on slowing down any time soon.

The former UFC heavyweight champion claimed gold in the organization in 2005 having originally won the interim title. Yet when Frank Mir was unable to recover in time from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident, the UFC recognized Arlovski as the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.

Arlovski’s now planning to recapture his belt 17 years on from his first triumph.

The 43-year-old spoke to the media ahead of UFC Vegas 53 where he takes on Jake Collier. He revealed his aspirations for the near future.

“Be a champion again, to fight the top fighters,” said Arlovski. “I’m a player of UFC and I’m gonna fight what UFC gonna give me to fight. So, Jake another tough young stud and dangerous, heavy-hitter so I have to be alert, I have to stick with my game plan as usual keep my hands up and move around.”

Arlovski holds records for the most Octagon appearances as well as wins with 37 and 22 respectively in UFC heavyweight history. Nonetheless, ‘The Pitbull’ is more motivated by beating his opponent rather than statistics.

“For me of course, it’s like that’s nice but more important I think it’s for my striking coach Paulina Hernandez. He’s all about these records you know like strikes per round etc, etc, etc. So, for me, it’s more important to beat my opponent.”

Having faced some top prospects throughout his time in the UFC, Arlovski is no stranger to a challenge. The Belarusian seems to relish in showing what he’s capable of despite his age.

‘The Pitbull’ will be looking to extend his current three-fight win streak to four with a win over Collier tonight. He’s showing there is still plenty of fight left in the old dog yet as Arlovski revealed he’s looking to compete for another 3-4 years.

With some of the opponents, he has faced rising to the top of the division including the likes of Francis Ngannou, Tom Aspinall, and Tai Tuivasa, Arlovski will be fully aware of what awaits him should he make a return to title contention.

Do you think Arlovski has what it takes to become a champion once more?

Andrei Arlovski vs. Carlos Felipe was a slugfest.

The two fighters met in a bout on Saturday night (October 16, 2021) at the UFC Vegas 40 event from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility.

A slow first round, but it heated up with a minute to go with the UFC vet pushing forward and mixing in his kicks while Felipe did a good job of grouping his strikes together. Arlovski had double the amount of strikes thrown than his opponent in the first round. Felipe had range issues in the second round, but when he did get close, he landed. A lot of movement by Arlovski. Felipe hurt him twice in the third round up against the fence, but Arlovski somehow survived. The judges gave the win to Arlovski by decision.

Peep the highlights of the fight courtesy of the UFC’s official Twitter account:

Arlovski has been on a roller coaster ride as he was 3-2 heading into this fight. He got knocked out by Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 244 before beating Philipe Lins and Tanner Boser by decision. He lost to Tom Aspinall by submission before getting a decision win over Chase Sherman in April 2021.

Felipe was on an 8-fight winning streak before getting beat by Sergey Spivak via majority decision in July 2020. He followed up that loss by ripping off three straight wins with decision victories over Yorgan de Castro, Justin Tafa, and Jake Collier.

Dan Lambert was joined by Junior dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski and Jorge Masvidal as ATT made an appearance at AEW All Out over the weekend.

Lambert is the owner and founder of American Top Team, and also happens to be a huge professional wrestling fan. He has made a number of appearances at All Elite Wrestling events since it’s formation, showing some impressive skills on the mic. His latest appearance took place this Sunday, at the company’s biggest pay-per-view event of the year.

Accompanied by his fighters and AEW stars Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, Lambert cut a promo hyping up the mixed martial artists and wrestlers, perhaps teasing a nearby collaboration.

.@AmericanTopTeam’s #DanLambert is here in a skybox with @junior_cigano, @GamebredFighter, @andreiarlovski & #MenOfTheYear @ScorpioSky & @OfficialEGO and they are putting all of #AEW on notice.

While none of the ATT standouts Lambert has brought with him to AEW events have actually competed in the ring, it’s certainly helped them gain exposure and could potentially set them up for a new career once their MMA days are over. Arlovski and dos Santos both drew cheers, while Masvidal garnered the biggest reaction.

While all three men are still active in their MMA careers, they appeared to enjoy taking part in the event and could possibly make the transition later on. Appearing alongside Lambert certainly seemed to put their foot in the door.

All Out was a massive success for the fast-rising wrestling promotion. On top of a series of highly anticipated wrestling matches, it also saw the debut of a number of high-profile signings, including former WWE stars Ruby Soho (fka Ruby Riot), Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan), and Adam Cole.

AEW has continuously grown out their roster, and appear more than happy to take on some newcomers who can come in with same name value already behind them.

What did you think of Dan Lambert’s promo? Will we see any MMA fighters make the switch to pro wrestling?
