One of boxing’s biggest possible fights is apparently close to happening.

According to a report that arose from ESPN Senior Writer Dan Rafael today (Mon., June 11, 2018), WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has agreed to terms offered to him by IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO champion Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn:

“Deontay Wilder has accepted the terms offered to him by Anthony Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn for them to meet in the United Kingdom for the undisputed heavyweight championship this fall, Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s co-manager, told ESPN on Monday night.

“We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.K.. Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the U.K. Deontay sent an email to Joshua (Sunday) night and I sent one today to Barry Hearn and Eddie telling them that we officially accept the offer to fight under the terms they gave us and to send us the contract,” Finkel said. Finkel said that the offer is a two-fight deal with terms also agreed to for a rematch that would take place in the United States.”

Wilder has won an incredible 39 fights on his unblemished 40- record by knockout an has defended the WBC title seven times in a row since winning it three years ago.

Joshua has won all but one of his fights by knockout as well, bringing a 21-0 record into the awaited megafight after first gaining widespread notoriety in his classic match with Vladimir Klitschko where he added the WBA and IBO belts to his impressive list of accolades.

Wilder’s manager Finkel recently said to World Boxing News that a supposed $50 million offer to fight in the United States was turned down by Joshua, and even though the offer was on the table, Wilder would now go to Britain and face their hometown champion:

“If for any reason Anthony changes his mind and wants to fight in the U.S, the $50m offer we have made to him is still there. It’s now in Joshua’s court.”

“They gave us an offer, we were hoping they’d accept the U.S offer instead because there’s so much money but instead since they haven’t we’ve decided that if you don’t want $50m then we’re willing to come the UK and take your offer.”

Both fighters fought in March, with Wilder defeating Luis Ortiz in a thrilling, come-from-behind fight where he was nearly finished, while Joshua scored a lackluster win on the scorecards over Joseph Parker.

So the heavyweight division appears to be getting its biggest fight. Who are you picking to win if it does happen?

Dana White Responds To Rumors About Anthony Joshua Offer

White has responded to rumors about him offering big money deal to Anthony Joshua.

UFC President Dana White has addressed the reports of his desire to sign heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

If you recall, back in March, it was reported that White made an offer to Joshu to get him to compete under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

White has made it well known in the past that he is a big fan of the heavyweight champ and would like to promote him as part of his planned venture into boxing.

Joshua (21-0, 21 KOs) last fought in a major unification bout with New Zealand’s Joseph Parker (24-1, 18 KOs) on March 31st in Cardiff, Wales.

Joshua ended up winning the fight. This marks the third consecutive stadium show for England’s Joshua, who is one of the highest-paid, biggest stars in the sport today.

At the time, it was reported that White planned to attend the fight and attempt to lure Joshua away from promoter Eddie Hearn with a ridiculously lucrative multi-fight offer.

Also, it was noted that the promotion would be willing to offer him a deal that could earn him $500 million (£353 million) and make him the richest British boxer of all time.

He could earn $50 million (£35 million) per fight if he switched to them. Joshua earned around $20 million US for the Parker fight. White addressed these reports about wanting to sign Joshua over the weekend.

“I never made him an offer ever,” White said at the UFC Liverpool post-fight press conference (transcript courtesy of Bloody Elbow). We were supposed to meet. We never met, we never talked money, we never did anything.”

“That isn’t even the kind of deal I was looking to structure,” White said. “Because when we talked, [Joshua] had told me that he was going to stay with Eddie Hearn. He was never going to get rid of Eddie Hearn, and that was never the plan. It was never like I was trying to move in and steal him from Hearn.

“The deal was that I felt we could add a lot of value to them in the United States,” He added. “So we could cut some kind of a deal in the US. He’s big in England, everyone knows who he is in England. And I have the machine to make him big in the United States. That was the plan.”

“Listen, I’ve worked with [Al Haymon], there’s a lot of guys I’d love to work with in the boxing business. Bob Arum isn’t one of them, but there’s a lot of other guys out there that I would.”

The combat sports world was underwhelmed by this weekend’s (Sat., March 31, 2018) heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and David Parker.

For the first time in Joshua’s professional boxing career, he failed to put his opponent away, and some sketchy refereeing led to a fairly dismal main event.

However, there was much more action on the undercard, with Alexander Povetkin scoring a vicious fifth-round knockout against David Price.

Check out the finest performance of the night as the boxing world continues to criticize Joshua’s lackluster effort:

And in slow motion:

Povetkin’s stunning KO kept his WBA Inter-Continental and WBO International heavyweight titles on his waist, and could potentially set up a fight with Joshua should the heavyweight champion opt out of a fight with American heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder.

Price was laid out for quite some time and required an oxygen mask following the brutal knockout loss.

What’s next for Joshua and Povektin? Will the two face off next, or will the boxing world finally see Joshua vs. Wilder?

The early betting odds for a potential fight between UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua have been released.

Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) is slated to compete in a major unification bout with New Zealand’s Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) on March 31st in Cardiff, Wales.

This marks the third consecutive stadium show for England’s Joshua, who is one of the highest-paid, biggest stars in the sport today.

UFC President Dana White has made it well known in the past that he is a big fan of the heavyweight champ and would like to promote him as part of his planned venture into boxing.

It’s been reported that White will attend the upcoming fight and will attempt to lure Joshua away from promoter Eddie Hearn with a ridiculously lucrative multi-fight offer.

It’s been well documented that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will fight Miocic at UFC 226. They will also coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

Even though UFC is unlikely to ink Joshua only to have him compete inside of the Octagon, oddsmakers still put out the odds for this potential MMA fight.

According to online gambling outlet Odds Checker, Miocic would be considered a -5000 (1-50) favorite if the promotion was able to book this fight. Joshua currently comes in as a +1000 (10-1) underdog.

The sport of boxing and MMA is an interesting place right now. It seems that MMA fighters want to be boxer and boxers want to be MMA fighters.

Time will whether the UFC is able to sign Joshua to a deal and if this fight between the two heavyweight champions is made.
