It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, June 17th, 2016) will come in the form of Bellator 156. Headlining the card are Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.

Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas met in the main event of Bellator 156. This was a bantamweight title bout. In round 1, both guys having a feeling out process early. Not a ton of action in this one and the fans were booing heavily. In round 2, Galvao started to let his hands go in this round, but Dantas was landing combos at will. Dantas was firing back with some kicks that backed up Galvao. In round 3, Dantas was landing jabs that backed up Galvao in the early going. Galvao buckled down and started to cover up better. Galvao was started to get busted up in this round and was bleeding. Dantas really turned things around in this round and it was impressive. Galvao’s right eye was swollen shut. In round 4, Galvao came out and went for a takedown right out of the gate. Galvao struggled with this and Dantas continued to work him over with strikes. In round 5, Galvao pulled guard at the beginning of the round but then just stood up. They exchanged to the bell. Dantas won the fight by decision and won the bantamweight title.

Chidi Njokuani and Thiago Jambo Goncalves met in the co-main event of Bellator 156. Things didn’t pick up until the third round, but it was a solid fight. In round 1, the two fighters had a feeling out process early in the round. Jambo went for a takedown but struggled with it, and Njokuani stayed on his feet. Jambo clinched with him up against the fence midway through the round. Jambo worked him over with strikes and knees to end the round. In round 2,  Jambo was landing some sick kicks in this round and backing up Njokuani. Jambo worked him over in the clinch, but they kept getting separated. In round 3, Njokuani was mixing up his strikes well in this round and felt the pressure as he turned it up inside the cage. Jambo was just dominating with his clinch work which slowed down Njokuani. Njokuani landed a body kick and then finished him on the ground with strikes.

Brandon Halsey and John Salter met in a middleweight bout at Bellator 156. A quick finish to say the least. Halsey went for a takedown early but couldn’t get it. Salter busted him up, which made Halsey bleed from his eyebrow. This one turned bloody. The doctors checked on him, but they said he was good to go. Halsey went for a takedown, but it was stuffed. Salter landed some good shots from the top before Halsey got to his feet. Halsey took him down with under a minute to go but Salter caught him in a triangle choke for the win.

Opening the Bellator 156 main card on Spike TV was Chris Honeycutt vs. Mikkel Parlo in a middleweight bout. In round 1, both guys tried to take the fight to the ground early but neither were successful. They striked to the end of the round. In round 2,  Parlo came out and tried to take him down but wasn’t successful. Honeycutt dropped him midway through the round but Parlo got right back to his feet. Parlo continued to clinch and try to take the fight to the ground but it just wasn’t working. In round 3, Both guys come out and just throwing down before clinching. Both guys were tiring down but still putting on a good striking fest. Honeycutt landed a late round takedown briefly.

On Friday night, Bellator Bantamweight Champion Marcos Galvao will compete in a rematch against former champion Eduardo Dantas in the main event of the Bellator 156 event, which will air live on Spike TV. Before Galvao and Dantas enter the Bellator cage, however, they, as well as the rest of the fighters scheduled for Friday night’s fight card, must step on the official scales.

A new co-main event for Bellator 156 next Friday night has been created, as Chidi Njokuani takes on Thiago Jambo.

The event takes place June 17 on Spike TV from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California and serves as the lead-in bout to Eduardo Dantas vs. Marcos Galvao for the bantamweight title.

An undisclosed injury to “Bellator 158” competitor Josh Koscheck has paved the way for a new co-main feature bout at “Bellator 156: Galvao vs. Dantas 2,” pitting Chidi “Chidi Bang Bang” Njokuani (14-4) against Thiago Jambo (18-4) on June 17 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA. Jambo will be making his promotional debut in place of Douglas Lima.

The fight completes a card that features a Bellator MMA Bantamweight Title rematch pitting Marcos Galvao (17-6-1) against Eduardo Dantas (17-4), while Fresno native, Chris Honeycutt (7-1) returns home to take on Mikkel Parlo (13-2) in a middleweight slugfest. Rounding out the main card, John Salter (11-3) and Brandon Halsey (9-1) duke it out in a 185-pound feature bout.

The 27-year-old Las Vegas native finished his 2015 campaign on a high note, recording a unanimous decision victory over Ricky “The Sniper” Rainey in his promotional debut at “Bellator 146: Kato vs. Manhoef.” Njokuani will face one of the stiffest tests of his career when he meets Jambo in the co-headliner of “Bellator 156: Galvao vs. Dantas 2.”

The 35-year-old Goncalves has landed himself a golden opportunity when he steps into the cage with Njokuani in the co-feature on June 17. The 12-year professional most recently earned his 18th career win by defeating Matt Baker via technical knockout in the second round of their contest and now the Brazilian welterweight will be making his Bellator MMA debut after impressively recording six wins over his last seven fights dating back to 2010.

Bellator MMA officials recently announced the final three matches for their upcoming Bellator 156: Galvao vs. Dantas event scheduled for later this month.

Among the three new fights officially announced this week is a new main card bout, which features Chris Honeycutt (7-1) moving up to middleweight to take on Mikkel Parlo (13-2).
