Logan Storley Michael Page Scott Coker Bellator 281

After the win of his career at Bellator 281, Logan Storley now finds himself on top of the MMA world after a hellacious climb, defeating Michael Page for the interim welterweight championship.

However, ‘Storm’ wasn’t too fond of the comments by Bellator President Scott Coker and Michael ‘Venom’ Page after the decision. Feeling like excuses were being made on why Page didn’t get his hand raised after the fight was over.

On The MMA Hour, Page ridiculed Storley’s game plan and accused him of basically playing things safe.

Storley would respond with some venom of his own, telling MMA Fighting: “I think he’s a great dude, and he’s a hell of a fighter, and I respect the hell out of ‘MVP,’ but at the end of the day, you couldn’t stop a takedown.”

Logan Storley Talks Bellator 281 and Reacts to Scott Coker’s and Michael Page’s ‘Excuses’

“You couldn’t stop anything I was doing on top. You couldn’t get away from me. Anyone that has a problem with that, I don’t know what to tell you,” Storley continued.

“I stood up with you for probably 10 or 11 minutes of the fight — why didn’t you drop me? Why didn’t you hurt me? I gave you all the time in the fourth round. We were both tired — why didn’t you knock me out? All he said before the fight was, ‘It only takes one second.’ Why didn’t you do that? That’s my question. If you’re so good, why didn’t you knock me out in that one second that it took?”

‘Storm’ would complement the Englishman on his skill and agility in the standup situation, but Page really failed to provide any fight-ending sequence or combo of significant note.

Logan Storley (14-1, 9-1 Bellator) is the new interim welterweight champion after his dominant victory, and the real story behind the fight is his grappling prowess. A four-time All-American and D-1 wrestler from the University of Minnesota, it’s very easy to see why Storley’s grappling is just so dominant.

Logan Storley Addresses the ‘Excuses’

‘Storm’ wasn’t done addressing his new rival, though, as he’d also say: “You can’t sit here after the fight and come up with all these excuses. I stood on the feet with you for eight to 10 minutes, and you couldn’t hurt me. If you’re the world’s best striker and you’re so dangerous, and it only takes a split second, well, you didn’t find it.”

“I just think it’s kind of arrogant,” Logan Storley continued. “I really respect him. I think he’s a great dude, but guess what? I don’t have the 20 years of boxing like I do in wrestling, and I understand that. It’s funny when I hear fighters say, ‘If I fix one thing, I’ll beat this guy.’ Well, I wish you the best of luck with that.”

As far as Scott Coker is concerned, he made it public that he had scored the fight for Page. Basically mocking his new interim welterweight champion for winning the fight via his grappling. Saying that, Storley’s grappling-heavy approach is “just laying on somebody.”

“I mean, to each his own,” Logan Storley would respond. “I think Scott scored it 48-47 Page, but which two rounds are you giving me? If you’re going to give me two rounds, why not give me the other two? You’re just guessing at this point. I respect Scott, me and him have a good relationship, but you can’t just pick and choose rounds that, ‘Oh, MVP won this.’ One, two, three, and five was clearly me, so which rounds are you giving me?

What are your thoughts on Logan Storley and Michael Page’s feud, and do you think Page deserves a rematch? Also, is it unprofessional for Scott Coker to say such things about his new interim champion?

Scott Coker Criticizes Logan Storley’s Win: “You Can’t Just Lay On Somebody”

Bellator President Scott Coker thinks interim welterweight champion Logan Storley could’ve done more in his win at Bellator 281. Storley defeated Michael Venom Page via split decision in the Bellator 281 headliner. He won with his wrestling and was able to survive barrages from Page on the feet to secure the victory.

But Storley’s approach to his win over Page didn’t go without criticism. Many fans and pundits questioned the final scorecards due to Storley’s reluctance to put out offense after scoring takedowns.

During his Bellator 281 post-fight press conference, Coker explained why he feels Storley did a disservice to the viewing audience.

“Honestly, I think Logan has some improvement to do myself too,” Coker said of Storley. “You can’t just lay on somebody and think you’re gonna win and score points, that’s not MMA, that’s wrestling. To me, if you’re gonna wrestle, you have to continue to wrestle and then try to submit, ground-and-pound, strike.

“There’s a difference between what you see on the wrestling mat and what you see in the cage. To me, all these fighters…. they’re at the very highest level of what they do. But, they owe it to themselves, they owe it to the audience, to the fans… to continue to get better at the disciplines that they’re not strong in.”

Coker went on to answer how he scored the Storley vs. Page headliner.

“I thought [Page] won that fight,” Coker revealed. “The reason I say that… Half of the round, he was striking. The other half, you can’t just lay on somebody. You’re not doing any damage, you’re not getting close to a submission, you’re not creating any threat. You’re just laying on somebody, and that’s not MMA.”

Storley earned a shot for the interim title after welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov pulled out of his fight with Page to fight on the front lines in Ukraine. Page earned the title shot by defeating Douglas Lima via a split decision.

Despite Coker’s criticism, Storley will face Amosov at a later date in a rematch of their close fight at Bellator 252. The former Division I wrestling standout will look to bring a more well-rounded game to the champion in his next Bellator appearance.

Welterweight Oliver Enkamp thrilled the London audience at Bellator 281 on Friday with a remarkable come-from-behind submission.

After a successful Paris card, Bellator MMA returned to England’s capital on Friday, May 13 for another exciting card. After five fights, the crowd inside the OVO Arena Wembley were still awaiting their first finish, but when it came, it came in some style.

In the sixth fight of the night, former UFC fighter Enkamp shared the cage with six-fight Bellator veteran Mark Lemminger. Despite a fast start from the Swede, the American quickly took over and had a firm grasp on the fight heading into the final round, with the second potentially even being worthy of a 10-8 score for Lemminger.

But less than 30 seconds into the third frame, Enkamp, who went 0-2 in the UFC courtesy of losses to Nordine Taleb and Danny Roberts, flipped the script.

After appearing fatigued, Enkamp had a spinning kick caught, with Lemminger sending him to the ground. From there, the Stockholm native adjusted position and locked in a unique buggy choke out of nowhere, securing the tap and a crazy comeback triumph.

It’s safe to say we have a Submission of the Year candidate…

Check out the wild finish below:

With the victory, Enkamp, who boasts a 2014 win over UFC fighter Guram Kutateladze, extended his professional record to 11-3, and his Bellator slate to 4-1. Lemminger, meanwhile, was sent home with his very first submission loss. He’s now 12-5 as a pro, with a negative 2-4 record under the Bellator banner.

What was your reaction to Oliver Enkamp’s come-from-behind submission?

Luke Trainer

A shock upset opened the main card of Bellator 281, as Luke Trainer was handed his first loss as a professional by Cameroon’s Simon Biyong.

Trainer walked out in front of his home crowd a huge betting favorite. The man from Stevenage appeared to get rocked early by Biyong, but was able to take the fight to the ground, where he locked up back control and rained down a series of hellacious strikes.

However, in the second round, Biyong began lighting Trainer up on the feet, sending the Brit tumbling to the canvas. ‘Hemle’ followed him down, taking the mount, and landing his own G&P. Trainer was just about able to hang on, and make it to the end of the round, although not before suffering numerous lacerations across his face.

The third round was more of the same, as Biyong’s striking damaged Trainer, leading to the fight once again going to the ground. Biyong rode the fight out from here, maintaining top control and landing more ground strikes till the end of the round.

Simon Biyong defeats Luke Trainer via unanimous decision (29-27, 28-27, 29-28).

LowKick MMA will be bringing you Bellator 281: MVP vs. Storley results throughout the night (Fri. May 13. 2022) live from the OVO Arena in London, England.

Taking main event status; an interim Bellator welterweight title fight between the #1 ranked welterweight contender, Michael Page, and the #4 ranked contender, Logan Storley. The promotion introduced an interim title to the division amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine after undisputed champion, Yaroslav Amosov returned home to help defend his country from the Russian invasion.

Unbeaten in his last six consecutive outings, experienced kickboxing striker, Page most recently featured in the main event of Bellator 267 last October, avenging his sole professional defeat with a close, debated split decision win over former undisputed champion, Douglas Lima.

South Dakota native, Storley has also only suffered one professional loss — a November 2020 split judging defeat against the aforenoted, Amosov. In a pair of victories since, Storley has improved to 13-1 with a pair of wins over Dante Schrio, and Neiman Gracie.

Bellator 281: MVP vs. Storley took place on Friday live from the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England, and MMA News has you covered with the results and highlights!

In the second leg of the promotion’s brief European tour, which began with Bellator 280 in Paris, France last Friday, Bellator made the short trip across the channel, where England’s capital played host to an intriguing card.

In the main event, hometown hero Michael “Venom” Page looked to cement his legacy as one of the UK’s best by having gold wrapped around his waist for the first time. However, spoiling the night for MVP and the London crowd was Logan Storley, who grappled his way to a split-decision victory in the main event.

In a notable co-main event, MMA legend and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida returned to action for the first time since April 2021. His drop to middleweight didn’t bring the desired result, with Fabian Edwards sending “The Dragon” on a four-fight losing skid while snapping his own poor run of form in the process. “The Assassin” closed the contest early with a first-round knockout, which he celebrated in the cage with his brother, #2-ranked UFC welterweight Leon Edwards.

Elsewhere on the main card, in a fight that certainly fit the “people’s main event” bill, Paul Daley entered the cage for the 64th and final time. Despite some early wrestling adversity, “Semtex” closed out his career in perhaps the best way possible: a brutal knockout in front of his home crowd. With chants of “Daley” ringing around the OVO arena, Bellator 281 was certainly a fitting culmination of a legendary career.
