Dillon Danis has made the headlines again after responding to the harsh onslaught received by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

Last week Ariel Helwani praised Jake Paul for his challenge to UFC president Dana White, and as expected, it didn’t sit well with the Bellator fighter giving the history between the two athletes. Danis then made the following comment: “Ariel you’re a b*tch”.

Ariel Helwani engaged in a war of words with Dillon Danis, throwing shade left and right, to much delight of the MMA community.

Ariel Helwani Roasts Dillon Danis

”Guys if you think life sucks right now just think you could have begged for 3 years to fight an 0-0 YouTuber and 3 years later still not be popular enough or good enough to even be considered a worthy opponent for him. Imagine that. In other words, you could be Dillon Danis.”

Ariel Helwani wasn’t quite done there as he continued to roast the middleweight fighter.

“Hey guys follow me real quick and I’ll follow you back and pay you 1k. Ffs. Get a grip Dillon. Who acts like this? 3…2…1 before ol DD texts me hey bro why don’t you like me? Like, I thought we were cool bro. Can’t wait for the witty tweet reply, too. And then he’ll call for a truce and then ask me to RT his tweets every two seconds. What a pleasure.”

One week post Ariel Helwani’s verbal attack, Dillon Danis took to Twitter to fire back.

Dillon Danis Responds

“Ariel It’s bad enough you’ve been fired by every media outlet Don’t beg for crumbs from joke Paul by attacking me Just fade into oblivion.”

“Took me awhile to read your insipid, bland, lifeless, Junior High ‘Journalism’. You’re a terrible writer. What did you do w/the $ your Mommy gave you for writing lessons? God knows you didn’t buy a gym membership with it Your arms look like car antennas.”

Dillon Danis continued to strike, offloading several more Tweets.

“You’re a guy with ONE Shirt and ZERO Original Ideas. If you couldn’t beg fighters into giving you material you’d be making money being a fluffier for your wife’s boyfriend.”

“You’re lucky you weren’t born before cars had power steering or your wife would hafta park the car Your autobiography is going to be called NOBODY LEFT TO GET FIRED BY.

Furthermore, the insults weren’t enough for Dillon Danis, who challenged Ariel Helwani to a fight and proposed he would only use one arm.

There has been no response from Ariel Helwani yet, but we expect the verbal battle to continue, and certainly don’t expect to see Dillon Danis feature on The MMA Hour moving forward.

How do you think came out on top in the Dillon Danis vs. Ariel Helwani Twitter beef?

Irish MMA fighter Ian Coughlan was left paralyzed after a freak training accident and is now raising funds to help combat the costs of the unfortunate tragedy.

A social media post illuminated details of the story on Aug. 15. Coughlan fell on his head during training in late July, and within 1-second, the 29-year-old was completely paralyzed.

“Shocked and saddened to hear about Ian Coughlan’s spinal injury! My experience of Ian is an absolute gentleman! He has two kids at home. Please share and help if you can by supporting the GoFundMe set up to assist with his medical expenses” Irish MMA reporter Andy Stevenson shared.

Following the injury, the social media post revealed Coughlan was laid up in the Galway University Hospital. Serious rehabilitation will be required. The MMA fighter was told by doctors that he may never walk again. In addition, doctors informed him that he will likely need carers that will assist him with everyday tasks.

Staring down the barrel of life-changing injuries, the aspiring mixed martial artist fears he may have just lost what he loves most in the world.

“I felt as though my present and future has been taken away’ Coughlan lamented. “Martial arts is my life and it has been taken away from me.’

“I’m strong and have always been independent and I can’t bear the thought of having people look after me for the rest of my life. Coughlan continued. I just want my life back.”

Ian Coughlan was expected to fight at the end of Aug., however, the aspiring athlete sustained life-changing injuries while in training camp. If you would like to help contribute to Ian Coughlan and his demanding medical costs, his GoFundMe page can be found here.

New footage has emerged this evening of Bellator MMA welterweight grappler, Dillon Danis‘ arrest on Saturday night at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill in Seaside Heights, New Jersey following an alleged incident at the establishment.

Initial footage emerged earlier this week of New Jersey native, Danis struggling with law enforcement officers outside the Beachcomber Bar and Grill in Ocean County, in which the 28-year-old is picked up from the ground by responding officers as he struggles before he is then led down an entrance ramp and brought into police custody.

Charged with disorderly conduct in relation to the alleged incident, court summons obtained allege that Danis “created a disturbance” witnessed by the responding officer. Danis is due to appear at the Seaside Heights Municipal Court on October 19. The charge of disorderly conduct can potentially carry a six-month term in jail, as well as a resulting fine or a period of probation.

Along with footage of Danis’ arrest emerging, a mugshot picture began to circulate across social media, which appears to feature Danis. In the video, Danis, who is sporting bleached blonde hair, is wearing a white dress shirt and is also wearing a knee brace on the outside of his right pant leg as he attempts to struggle during the arrest.

In new footage which has emerged since his arrest, Danis appears to be involved in an altercation with a bouncer of the Beachcomber Bar and Grill, where the latter takes Danis’ back on the ground, before establishing both hooks and applying a rear-naked choke before responding officers turn Danis’ belly down as they place handcuffs on him.

Danis, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the renowned grappling coach, Marcelo Garcia, boasts a 2-0 professional mixed martial arts record, and has competed on various occasions at ADCC.

A two-fight veteran under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, Dillon Danis featured against Max Humphrey in his last professional walk at Bellator 22 in June 2019 where he scored a first round armbar victory.

Danis underwent reconstructive knee surgery in March last year after he had participated in the training camp of former two-weight UFC champion and teammate, Conor McGregor for the latter’s UFC 246 headlining bout against Donald Cerrone

Anthony Johnson

Former UFC light-heavyweight title challenger Anthony Johnson dropped out of his bout at Bellator 268 due to an illness according to mmajunkie.

‘Rumble’ (23-6 MMA, 1-0 Bellator) was slated to fight against Vadim Nemkov who is the current light-heavyweight champion.

The event takes place on Oct. 16, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona. Nemkov is 14-2 in his career but has an undefeated record (6-0) with Bellator. Johnson has not only lost his chance to win the tournament but also has lost his shot at the title (Nemkov will defend his title against every opponent he fights in the tournament). There is yet to be a substitution made at this moment for Johnson’s spot, as Nemkov will continue to fight at the event.

Johnson had his Bellator debut back in May of this year. He won via KO of Jose Agusto in the quarterfinal of the ‘Light Heavyweight Grand Prix’. Johnson was dropped in that fight against the Brazilian but came back in the 2nd round to KO him. After the fight, he called his performance a “piss-poor performance”. ‘Rumble’ was supposed to greet UFC alum Yoel Romero in that fight. An eye issue caused Romero to drop out of that fight in May.

‘Rumble’ was excited to fight Nemkov and in his post-fight interview after the Agusto fight said, “Fighting Nemkov, though – that’s an honor to fight him,” Johnson said. “He’s a beast. He’s the most complete fighter of this tournament. He can strike, can wrestle, can submit people fairly easy. I’m a big fan of his.”

Bellator 266 (tonight Sept. 18, 2021) headlining Romero (who was slated to fight Johnson in the tournament) against Phil Davis. A win by Romero could see him filling the spot that Johnson held in the tournament.

Who do you think will replace Anthony Johnson & fight for the title at Bellator 268?

Fedor Emelianenko

One of MMA’s all-time greats will make his return in October, when Fedor Emelianenko will compete at an unnamed Bellator event.

Ariel Helwani has reported that ‘The Last Emperor’s return will be made official by the promotion on Friday. An opponent and venue for the event have yet to be named. It will be Emelianenko’s first time competing since he claimed a victory over Rampage Jackson at Bellator 237 in December 2019.

Emelianenko will be 45 by the time he steps into the cage again. At this point in his career, he is no longer considered a true title contender, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a number of interesting fights that await him in the cage. Most notably, recently released former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos has been rumored to be joining the Bellator ranks, and a fight between the two superstars would be one of the biggest the organization could put together. There were even reports earlier this year that the two were set to meet at an event in Russia.

Dos Santos fell on hard times to end his run in the UFC. He has lost his last 4 fights, dropping all of them by way of TKO. Still, his name holds value and he was in the UFC title picture as recently as June 2019. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that a change of scenery and a little luck could find him with a belt around his waist once more.

Whoever Emelianenko ends up fighting, it is sure to draw the attention of the entire MMA community. The former Pride heavyweight champion has still proven to be a draw, and has amassed a respectable 5-2 record since coming out of retirement in December 2015. His return means he obviously believes he still has something left in the tank, so let’s hope that his return will see him look in recent form.

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabricio ‘Vai Cavalo’ Werdum has inked a deal to link up with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) for the upcoming 2021 heavyweight season, following the culmination of his latest contract with the Dana White led promotion.

Werdum, a veteran of mixed martial arts has been linked with major organizations the world over since the fighting out of the final fight of his Octagon deal earlier this year, such as Singapore based outfit, ONE Championship, and Scott Coker’s, Bellator MMA, however, according to a press release from PFL, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace will compete under their banner in the upcoming 2021 season format, after a series of recent rumblings.

The 43-year-old grappling sensation last featured professionally at UFC Fight Island 3 in July, picking up an eye-catching armbar win over three-time light heavyweight championship challenger, Alexander ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson in his second Octagon appearance of the year.

Werdum, a native of Porto Alegre in Brazil had been continuously linked with a spot on the Bellator MMA roster, in particular, expressing his interest in a potential rematch with the iconic, Fedor ‘The Last Emperor’ Emelianenko – whom he infamously submitted with a quickfire triangle at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum back in June of 2010. Despite both Coker and Werdum’s expression of interest in the bout, a deal failed to materialise.

PFL CEO, Peter Murray today reacted to Werdum’s arrival in the promotion, comparing the veteran to decorated NFL quarterback, Tom Brady.

I am excited to announce Fabricio Werdum, the Tom Brady of MMA, has signed with the Professional Fighters League,” Murray said. “Fabricio (Werdum) is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and knows when he steps into the PFL cage this coming season, it is more than a fight. The PFL sport season format provides an opportunity to control his destiny, like all PFL fighters, with a transparent shot to earn another major global title and the PFL million-dollar champions belt.

Werdum, a thirty-four fight professional veteran, has amassed an incredible 24-9 record during his almost nineteen-year career. With twelve submissions and six knockout finishes, Werdum has bested the likes of Gabriel Gonzaga (x2), Alistair Overeem, both Fedor and Alexander Emelianenko, Brandon Vera, Antonio Silva, Minotauro Nogueira, Travis Browne (x2), and Mark Hunt.

In his crowning Octagon triumph, the Brazilian headlined UFC 188 in June of 2015 at elevation in Mexico City, and with a shocking third-round guillotine, unified the heavyweight titles against Cain Velasquez to claim undisputed gold.
