Fedor Emelianenko

Former Pride FC heavyweight champion and Grand Prix victor, Fedor Emelianenko has revealed he would be open to fighting former professional boxing champion, Roy Jones Jr. in the future — in a future boxing match.

Emelianenko, revered as arguably the greatest heavyweight mixed martial artist of all time, lodged his second consecutive victory last month in the main event of Bellator 269 in his native Russian homecoming — stopping former interim heavyweight title chaser, Timothy Johnson with a patented first round knockout with just over a minute and a half elapsed in the first round.

The veteran Russian earned the #3 rank in the heavyweight division with his first round knockout victory — which followed a prior, one-sided first round knockout victory over former UFC light heavyweight titleholder, Quinton Jackson.

Fedor Emelianenko believes a future exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr. is possible

At the time of publication, the 45-year-old has yet to book his next professional bout, however, the next walk under the Bellator banner is likely to be his final in the sport, and it could come in a heavyweight title fight.
Nevertheless, Emelianenko has expressed an interest in potentially matching with the aforenoted former four-weight professional boxing champion, Jones Jr.

I have great respect for him [Roy Jones Jr.] as an athlete, a person, like a legend,” Fedor Emelianenko told Russian outlet TASS. “He is one of the most outstanding boxer in the world of all time. Of course, it would be a great honor for me to perform in such a fight. I am interested in such fights. There are a few things we need to do — we need a promotion that is ready to organize such a fight. We also need to discuss the terms.

Emelianenko hinted that an exhibition bout between the two would be the more likely avenue to a showdown with Jones Jr. — but maintains the former middleweight, supper-middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight champion would still prove incredibly dangerous even on exhibition terms.

We probably will not fully commit to strikes,” Fedor Emelianenko said. “But even without committing to punches, Roy [Jones Jr.] can show everything he is capable of. Hopefully, I won’t pale in comparison.

We now have the wind blowing in different directions,” Fedor Emelianenko said. “I think that this fight will be interesting for many. But there are many pitfalls, including many people who will take it negatively.” (Transcribed by Bloody Elbow)

Khamzat Chimaev

When Khamzat Chimaev told Dana White he would fight anyone at anytime, he really meant it. Chimaev is claiming that he would ‘smash’ both Logan and Jake Paul in a boxing match on the same night.

It is not a stretch to call Chimaev an absolute mad man inside the octagon. He has ran through everyone he has gone toe to toe without taking any real damage in four UFC fights. It takes a special kind of fighter to lift up their opponent, carry him and slam him in front of Dana White. He did all this, just so Dana was able to watch the mauling of Li Jingliang at UFC 267.

Chimaev wouldn’t mind stepping in the Paul’s newfound ‘profession’ and ‘smashing’ both of them inside the boxing ring. ‘The Wolf’ tweeted a few times at the brothers.

Paul answered back saying, “Listen Kumquat… you are just another UFC fighter pretending you can box. Sit down, shut up and pray you get paid fairly.”

The UFC is currently looking to book another opponent for Khamzat Chimaev before the year is up.

Chimaev is already a fan favorite as he is dominant inside the octagon and a natural on the microphone as well. All he wants to do is fight and “murder everyone”. This is the same guy that took 2 fights only 6 days apart, and took both out in dominant fashion.

Not many are looking or calling out Chimaev, but Neil Magny has been vocal about the opportunity to get inside the octagon with ‘The Wolf’. Hats off to Magny, because there aren’t fighters jumping at the opportunity to fight Chimaev.

The Paul brothers on the other hand have upcoming bouts inside the boxing ring. Jake Paul is fighting Tommy Fury on Dec.18 in Tampa, Florida. Logan Paul’s next fight is yet to be confirmed, although their have been a few rumors of potential opponents.

Do you think Chimaev could beat both Paul brothers on the same night inside the boxing ring?

Frank Mir

Former UFC fighters such as Frank Mir, Matt Mitrione, and Mike Perry will compete in the boxing ring at Triller Triad Combat later this month.

Mir will make his return to the ring after falling in his boxing debut to Steve Cunningham on the Jake Paul/Ben Askren card earlier this year. Despite losing the fight, Mir surpassed expectations in many boxing fans’ eyes and sounded optimistic about continuing to develop his skills.

Mir briefly competed in Bellator after a long tenure in the UFC which included a reign as the UFC heavyweight champion. In his last MMA fight, he defeated Roy Nelson by unanimous decision at Bellator 231 before leaving the sport.

Former UFC fighters transitioning to boxing opened the door to Mir and others to continue to make a living off of their combat sports skillsets.

Perry became the most recent UFC fighter to make the switch from MMA to boxing after an up-and-down series of fights with the UFC. He was released by the promotion after losing four of his last five bouts, included a lopsided performance against Daniel Rodriguez. Perry will compete in his first boxing match in six years against Sakio Bika.

Frank Mir and Mike Perry Will Make Their Boxing Returns

Below are just a few of the names on the card, as highlighted by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

A former UFC heavyweight colleague of Mir’s, Matt Mitrione, will compete against Alexander Flores. The former Ultimate Fighter standout will be making his boxing debut after a long stint in Bellator.

The boxing event will precede the highly-anticipated Paul/Tommy Fury card and will take place on Nov. 27 in Arlington, TX. Mir, Perry, and Mitrione will have the opportunity to once again prove themselves on a big stage.

What are your thoughts on Frank Mir, Mike Perry, and others returning to action?

Deron Williams

The upcoming Jake Paul/Tommy Fury boxing card added a bout between former NBA star Deron Williams and former NFL star Frank Gore.

Both Williams and Gore will be making their boxing debut after successful careers in their respective sports. The fight will take place over four rounds at a weight of 215 pounds, as announced by Showtime and later relayed by MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin.

Williams left the NBA after the 2016-2017 season in which he had an up-and-down series of games with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks. He was drafted by the Utah Jazz third overall in the 2005 NBA Draft and went on to have a stellar career on the court.

Williams went on to make the NBA All-Star Team three times over his career and also played with the U.S. National Team in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Gore is widely regarded as one of the best NFL running backs of the modern era, playing for five different teams over his legendary career. He was mostly known for his time with the San Francisco 49ers, in which he made multiple Pro Bowls and helped lead his team to the Super Bowl in 2012. Gore totaled over 11,000 rushing yards over his career and smashed multiple 49ers franchise records.

Deron Williams And Frank Gore Will Make Their Boxing Debuts

Gore and Williams don’t have any experience in the boxing ring but will make their debuts on a big stage. The Paul vs. Fury fight is one of the most highly-anticipated fights of the year, and both men have the opportunity to add another chapter to their athletic careers.

What is your prediction for Deron Williams vs. Frank Gore?

Jake Paul: Kamaru Usman Would Be Light Work

Jake Paul

Jake Paul believes he would beat the current UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman if the two were to ever step into a boxing ring together.

In an interview with TMZ Sports Paul told reporters that fighting Usman if he ever got the opportunity to would be “light work”.

“I mean, he [Kamaru Usman] could barely beat up a 170-pounder. Took a lot of shots, man. He’s getting old, right? He’s 35 and I think that’s starting to show. I think he is out of his prime already. He’s light work. You know, I respect Canelo and his boxing ability but as far as Kamaru Usman getting into the boxing ring, like I said, it’s light work. Look what I did to Tyron [Woodley], the five-time UFC champion… I know Kamaru beat Woodley, but in boxing, completely different.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will look to take some time before making his next move. In the build-up to his five-round thriller with Colby Covington, the current welterweight champion had expressed an interest in stepping into a boxing ring but more specifically to fight Canelo who many argue is the #1 pound-for-pound boxer on the planet.

Usman successfully defended his welterweight championship this past weekend at UFC 268. The 34-year-old picked up a decision victory over Covington to extend his reign at the top, making his fifth title defence and extending his unbeaten streak to 19.

Jake Paul Will Face The Biggest Test Of His Short Career Next Month

Paul will also need to take care of business on his own end before eyeing up any potential matches with the UFC star. ‘The Problem Child’ is set to take on Tommy Fury on December 18th in what is expected to be his toughest test to date. However, Paul is not backing down from the challenge and seems to be relishing his position as the underdog as in the build-up to the fight, he said on Instagram.

“I was secretly in camp for 7 weeks before Tommy signed the contract while he was at the club partying, smoking cigars at his brothers fight, and eating at Krispy Kreme’s on cute dates with Molly. For the first time in my career the oddsmakers made me the underdog for this fight. I LOVE IT. I’ve been the underdog my whole life. Always been counted out. Always had the uphill battle. All my opponents have cut corners and taken me lightly. By this time, it’s too late to make changes to try and beat me ? Good luck Tommy. December 18th your career is over.”

Only time will tell if these two will ever get to fight, however, if Jake Paul can get the victory over Tommy Fury, he’ll be making a compelling argument as to why Usman should start to take him seriously.

How do you think a boxing match between Jake Paul & Kamaru Usman would play out?

Jake Paul Denies Inserting No Knockout Clause Into Fight Contracts

Jake PaulJake Paul has finally addressed claims that he inserted a no knockout clause into the contract of his last opponent, Tyron Woodley. ‘The Problem Child’ stretched his perfect professional boxing record to 4-0 with a split decision win against the former UFC welterweight champion earlier this year. Jake Paul

Jake Paul has finally addressed claims that he inserted a no knockout clause into the contract of his last opponent, Tyron Woodley.

‘The Problem Child’ stretched his perfect professional boxing record to 4-0 with a split decision win against the former UFC welterweight champion earlier this year. However, Paul did not have things all his own way in what was billed as and proved to be the toughest test of his short career.

Woodley landed a monstrous punch in the fourth frame that sent the social media celebrity tumbling into the ropes. Surprisingly, ‘The Chosen One’ refused to follow up and Paul was able to survive the round before boxing his way to a decision win.

Some fans suspected that the fight between Paul and Woodley was fixed. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Dillon Danis provided some information that suggested those fans were right.

“Tyron Woodley, from what I heard, had it in the contract that he was not allowed to knock out Jake Paul,” Danis said. “I swear on anything he was against the ropes, I swear, that’s why when Jake Paul was against the ropes, Tyron Woodley didn’t hit him. I’m telling you right now. It was in his contract where it said you’re not allowed to knock him out.”

Jake Paul Responds To Match-Fixing Claims

Ahead of his next fight which will be against Tommy Fury on December 18, Paul spoke with the media and addressed the claims made by Danis that have since been repeated by Claressa Shields.

“Look, it’s a bunch of losers trying to make sh*t up to get in the headlines,” Paul said. “And to get reporters like yourself to ask about that exact question and put their name into the mix so they can get a little bit of clout.

“Having a ‘no knockout clause’ in a contract – I’ve never heard of that. It’s highly illegal, I would be in jail. That’s like rigging a fight. I would be in prison if that was a real thing.

“It’s all nonsense, it’s all bullsh*t and they got exactly what they wanted out of it, which was for people to mention their name.” (Transcribed by TalkSport)

Do you believe Jake Paul? Or do you think he is really inserting no knockout clauses into his opponent’s fight contracts?
