Former boxing world champion, Floyd Mayweather eased through an exhibition bout with the UK’s Aaron Chalmers.

Mayweather, 46, is still plying his trade around the world, boxing opposition far below his operating level. Last night, it was the turn of former reality TV star and MMA fighter, Chalmers, who agreed to face to five-weight world champion after initial opponent Liam Harrison was ruled out due to a knee injury.

The event had an abysmal attendance with the event being postponed for half an hour in order to attempt to fill up the practically empty 02 Arena. Tickets were also reduced in a last-minute ditch to garner more sales.

As for the bout, Mayweather simply played with his food – extending Chalmers to see the final bell. At times the American would showboat, playing up for the crowd as he pot-shotted the out-of-depth Brit.

The fight would end in a no-decision due to it being an exhibition.

I would like to thank all the fans in the UK. The fans are unbelievable,” Mayweather said following the bout. “This guy is tough as nails; we had a chance to come together. I came to entertain the people, and I’m glad I came.”

“I have a lot of experience. He has to continue to work hard and believe in himself. He’s got a tough chin – anything is possible.” (H/T BoxingNews24)

What’s next for Floyd Mayweather?

It’s unclear what exactly Mayweather will do next, but it is likely that we will see him enter some kind of exhibition match in the near future in an attempt to add to his supposed fortune.

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has all the confidence in the world that Tommy Fury stops Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia

Tyson Fury believes his brother will put Paul away with ease when the two meet in the ring on Sunday evening for their eight-round encounter, as he recently stated the following in his interview with Fight Hub TV:

“Looking good, he’s feeling good, and he’s going to knock him out.

“Tommy knocks out 90 percent of the people that he messes with. He drops them, knocks them out. That’s 90 percent. So Jake Paul is no different. He’ll get it, as well.

Conor McGregor made everybody think that he was going to beat Floyd (Mayweather), but in reality was never going to it. People are easy to convince, I suppose.”

Tommy Fury comes into the contest with a perfect professional boxing record of 8-0, while Paul comes in at 6-0, both men boasting four knockouts in those wins.

Paul went 1-0 as an amateur as well, also securing a knockout victory in that bout. And, while Fury’s amateur record isn’t anywhere to be found, we know that he did have 12 amateur fights. He won northern regional championships twice, and he was a finalist in the national championships.

Being a finalist but not a champion means he definitely lost once, but also won most of his bouts considering he won some titles. So, there’s reason to believe he went 10-2, or maybe even 11-1 as an amateur.

Regardless, he’s quite a bit more experienced than Paul, who will be facing the first actual boxer of his career come Saturday.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Aaron Chalmers

The exhibition boxing match on February 25 against Aaron Chalmers is another in the series of Mayweather’s various retirement matches. The American-born fighter faced former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor in 2017 and then retired from professional competition.

Since his 2017 retirement, Mayweather has faced Deji Olatunji, Mikuru Asakura, Don Moore, Logan Paul, and kickboxing great Tenshin Nasukawa in exhibition matches.

Aaron Chalmers is a UK-born athlete who is best known for being a member of the Geordie Shore reality show. In MMA, he sports a 5-2 record with experience in Bellator MMA. Chalmers has not fought since 2020.

Initially, Floyd Mayweather was aiming for an exhibition boxing match against one of the most important fighters in UK Muay Thai history ‘The Hitman’ Liam Harrison. Unfortunately, Harrison suffered a knee injury in his ONE Muay Thai World Title match against Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and was forced to pull out from the fight. Instead, it will be former MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers meeting Mayweather at the O2 Arena.
