Anthony Joshua confirms fight with Deontay Wilder in December links Francis Ngannou

Former heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua has confirmed plans to face former WBC titleholder, Deontay Wilder in an end-of-year title-eliminator, appearing to puth the kibosh on a long-rumoured showdown against former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou for the duo.

Snapping a two-fight losing skid earlier this month on home soil, British heavyweight veteran, Anthony Joshua managed to land a unanimous decision victory over Jermaine Franklin.

As for Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight champion also returned to the winner’s enclosure for the November 2019, back in October of last year, returning triumphantly from a title loss with a thunderous first round knockout win over Robert Helenius.

Cameroon native, Ngannou on the other hand, has been sidelined from mixed martial arts competition since January of last year, successfully unifying the heavyweight titles under the UFC banner in a unanimous decision win over former interim titleholder, Cyril Gane in Anaheim, California.

Linked with an immediate transition to the squared circle following his departure from the UFC back in January, Ngannou also held important talks with Singapore-based promotion, ONE Championship this weekend.

In recent weeks, talks have suggested Ngannou may be line for a boxing debut against either Joshua or Wilder later this year, however, according to former world champion, Joshua – a clash between Wilder and he looks all but set for December.

“On Instagram with KayPhysical on April 21, when asked if he would beat Wilder, Joshua said, “…That’s what’s happening,” Anthony Joshua said. “Kayphysical asked Joshua if it was happening in Dec., and Joshua laughed and said, ‘…It’s public news; we are getting it done. We are throwing down in Dec.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Firing back at upcoming boxing opponent, Nate Diaz, controversial professional boxer, Jake Paul has also now accused the Stockton native of steroid abuse in the past, offering to make their August boxing clash a 15 round matchup.

Paul, who boasts a 6-1 professional record, has been sidelined since headlining a pay-per-view event against reality television star, Tommy Fury – the half-brother of WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia – suffering his first professional loss in a decision blemish.

As for Diaz, the Stockton fan-favorite completed his contractual obligations with the UFC back in September of last year, bowing out of the Octagon with a fourth round guillotine choke submission win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson.

Signing to fight Ohio puncher, Jake Paul in a professional boxing match over the course of eight rounds at the middleweight limit in August of this year in Dallas, Texas – Diaz, who was the subject of an arrest warrant in New Orleans this week, offered to fight the former over 12 rounds, accusing him of steroid use

You and your boyfriend Connor (sic) (Conor McGregor) are juice heads. Let’s do 15 rounds and see how good those cannabis corroded lungs are. VADA going to be coming to Stockton to slap you up.”

Gervonta Davis Ryan Garcia PPV buyrate 1.2 million

The long-anticipated boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia certainly lived up to its pay-per-view expectations.

The event which took place on April 22 in the fighting capital of the world was a box-office spectacle, selling the most PPVs since Canelo vs Gennadiy Golovin in 2017 (1.3 million).

The roaring. celebrity-filled T-Mobile Arena held an estimated gate of $22.8 million, once again competing with the numbers generated by the Canelo-GGG rivalry ($24.7 million).

Gervonta Davis stopped Ryan Garcia with a stunning seventh round KO

The fight itself delivered in an entertaining fashion, as Garcia threw his best shots in the direction of ‘Tank’, giving the Vegas favourite something to think about, before eventually being knocked down early in the fight, and finished off with a body shot in round 7.

The self-declared face of boxing moves on with a 29-0 record, retaining his undefeated record and making it a total of 27 knockouts.

During a time when boxing has been dominated by influencers and exhibition bouts such as Mike Tyson‘s return against Roy Jones, many suggest that this fight was not much different.

Ryan Garcia was a popular target among boxing elites due to his massive following on social media, guaranteeing a new wave of fans who are both interested in his popularity as well as his genuine capabilities as a boxer against a powerhouse such as Gervonta Davis.

As expected by many, Gervonta Davis proved to be a difficult task for Garcia, but he may not have hung his head low knowing the immense pay-day coming his way.

This was only the first loss in Garcia’s 23-1 career, and it can be expected that many of boxing’s elites will continue to call him out for an opportunity to become a cash cow themselves.

Following his defeat Garcia was met by MMA royalty Conor McGregor who lifted him with motivating words and suggested that Garcia has what it takes to eventually rematch Davis.

Floyd Mayweather books boxing exhibiiton with crime lord son John Gotti III

It seems as if Floyd Mayweather‘s next boxing exhibition match will be an interesting one as the boxing legend has just announced that he will be facing the grandson of the notorious crime boss John Gotti in the ring.

John Gotti III is actually an MMA fighter and holds a record of 5-1 in the octagon. His last two fights have been boxing exhibition matches, and he’s gone 2-0.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is obviously a legendary boxer. 50-0 in the squared circle, ‘Money’ has faced the greatest boxers of this generation and came out the victor. While many criticize his heavily defensive style coupled with his seemingly-arrogant persona, Mayweather is actually a very beloved figure in the boxing scene.

While many would have loved to see the legend fully retire, ‘Money’ still does what he does best: box for absurd amounts of money. His last five boxing bouts have been exhibition matches against the likes of Logan Paul, Deji, and more.

Floyd Mayweather lines up another boxing exhibition for big money against John Gotti III

While no exact date has been announced for the fight, it is rumored the event will take place in Florida. The fight is supposed to be in dedication to the memory of Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, his longtime friend and assistant, who sadly passed away in April of 2023.

On Instagram, Mayweather shared his plans for 2023 and announced he would be participating in five exhibitions this year. The exhibitions will take place all over the world, including the USA, Australia, Japan and more.

“This is what my 2023 looks like so far…” Floyd Mayweather began. “5 exhibitions in 5 countries in 9 months, and if any of these exhibitions don’t happen, I still get paid. I’m the most active hustler in boxing. My money is guaranteed.”

Are you going to watch any of the Floyd Mayweather exhibition fights this year?

Amid calls for Jake Paul to box YouTuber and musician, KSI, Nate Diaz has been offered a fight with former UFC light heavyweight champion and heavyweight tournament victor, Vitor Belfort – with the Brazilian labelling the former a “real fighter”.

Diaz, an alum of the UFC, is currently wanted by the New Orleans Police Department after an arrest warrant was issued earlier this week, with the Stockton native facing a charge of second-degree battery.

Involved in a street fight on Bourbon Street in New Orleans following a Misfits boxing event over the weekend, footage emerged of Diaz kneeing TikTok influencer, Rodney Petersen in the body during a clinch exchange, before choking him unconscious with a front choke, and dropping him on the concrete pavement, allegedly causing a grisly laceration on Petersen’s head.

Casting doubt on his own scheduled August boxing match against Ohio native, Paul, Diaz urged the 6-1 puncher to fight the above-mentioned, KSi – claiming he would himself search for a “real fighter” for his long-awaited professional boxing debut.

And it appears the former UFC lightweight title challenger may have a willing dance partner in the form of Brazilian veteran, Belfort, who offered to share the squared circle with him in August.

“@NateDiaz209 you are a real fighter, I don’t know why u giving him (Jake Paul) the pleasure to fight you,” Vitor Belfort tweeted. “I would love to boxe (sic) you. Making his return to professional boxing at the beginning of this month, Vitor Belfort rematched former UFC opponent and compatriot, Jacare Souza in Milwaukee, landing a unanimous decision victory over the former Strikeforce champion. Back in September 2021, Belfort handed veteran former world champion, Evander Holyfield with a brutal first round knockout in the pair’s exhibition boxing clash.

UFC alum, Nate Diaz has thrown his expected August professional boxing match with Jake Paul into jeopardy on social media overnight, as he breaks his silence for the first time since an arrest warrant was issued by the New Orleans Police Department for the former, who is facing a second-degree battery charge in relation to his part in a street fight on Bourbon Street in New Orleans over the weekend.

Diaz, a former UFC lightweight title challenger, and welterweight title challenger, was involved in a mass-brawl on Bourbon Street in Louisiana over the course of last weekend following a Misfits boxing event.

With footage emerging across social media, Stockton native, Nate Diaz appears to engage in a fight with a TikTok influencer, Rodney Petersen, landing a knee strike to his body during a clinch, before choking the man unconscious with a front choke before dropping him on the ground.

Nate Diaz has yet to be taken into police custody

Showing off a grisly head injury and laceration, apparently caused by Diaz, a spokesperson for the New Orleans Police Department confirmed that an arrest warrant for the Californian had been issued, and he is currently awaited in police custody following his part in the brawl in the French Quarter.

Reacting to the above-mentioned, Paul’s offer to YouTuber and musician, KSI to serve as backup for their scheduled August middleweight boxing match in Dallas, Texas – Diaz urged the duo to fight each other, casting doubt on his own fight with Paul.

“Lol why don’t u to (sic) scared p*ssys just fight each other August,” Nate Diaz tweeted. “I’ll fight someone who can really fight.”

Exiting the UFC following the completion of his contractual obligations with the promotion back in November of last year, Diaz headlined UFC 279 back in September of last year against former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson – scoring a fourth round guillotine choke submission triumph.
