According to reports this Monday evening, an arrest warrant has been issued by the New Orleans Police Department for former UFC fighter, Nate Diaz, who is being sought on a charge of second-degree battery in relation to a fight which took place over the weekend on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of the state.
Diaz, 38, a former lightweight title challenger and welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, attended a Misfits boxing event in the state over the course of last weekend, in support of his teammate, UFC and Bellator alum, Chris Avila.
And as per an initial report from MMA Fighting reporter, Steven Marrocco this Monday evening, the New Orleans Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Stockton native, Nate Diaz, in relation to the incident.
“BREAKING: The New Orleans Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Nate Diaz on a charge of second-degree battery stemming from Bourbon Street fight.”
A statement from the New Orlenas Police Department spokesperson, Karen A. Boudrie confirmed that Diaz has been charged with second-degree battery, however, was not in police custody currently.
“There has been an arrest warrant issued — he (Nate Diaz) is not in custody,” Boudrie confirmed.
In the state of Louisiana, second-degree battery charges can result in punishment by up to a period of eight years in prions “with or without hard labor,” a $2,000 fine or both.
Seeing his contractual obligations with the UFC coming to an end in November of last year, Diaz has since been booked to make his professional boxing debut in a middleweight fight over the course of eight round against the 6-1 puncher, Jake Paul at an event in Dallas, Texas in August of this year.

Former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor spoke with professional boxing prodigy, Ryan Garcia following his seventh round KO loss to the undefeated, Gervonta Davis last night – advising the 24-year-old to pursue a rematch against the world champion, sans a rehydration clause.
McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined from active competition since 2021, suffering a fractured left tibia and fibula in a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss against Dustin Poirier.
Competing once in professional boxing, McGregor headlined a pay-per-view event against former world champion, Floyd Mayweather back in 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena, suffering a tenth round standing TKO loss to the Michigan native.

“He’s (Gervonta Davis) 1-0 on you,” Conor McGregor told Ryan Garcia backstage following the main event. “Youse are the two biggest names in the division, I wanna see it again. I wanna see it again now – and I wanna see it with not rehydration clause. I’m serious, you know what I mean? You were crafty too, you tried to crack him with the lead hook.”

Surging UFC bantamweight contender, Sean O’Malley has welcomed the possibility of fighting WBA lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis off the back of the Baltimore native’s seventh round KO over Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, Nevada last night – claiming he would “piece” up the undefeated puncher.
Countering an aggressive Garcia in the second round of their highly-anticipated headlining clash, Davis dropped the former interim WBC lightweight champion with a counter left hook, sending him to the canvas.
And in the seventh round, having laid into the body of Garcia throughout the bout, Davis landed a picture-perfect straight shot to the body of the former, sending him backwards and eventually to a knee – missing the 10 count as Davis improved his undefeated professional record to 29-0.
Sean O’Malley calls for fight against Gervonta Davis next
Receiving plaudits aplenty following his knockout victory over the 24-year-old Garcia, Davis was once more the topic of conversation for Montana native, Sean O’Malley – who remains confident he outstrikes the knockout puncher.
“Walk out was hard,” Sean O’Malley tweeted. “Still feel like I piece him (Gervonta Davis) low key.”
The current #2 ranked bantamweight contender, O’Malley – who boasts a 16-1(1) professional mixed martial arts record to boot, most recently featured in the co-main event of UFC 280 back in October of last year, securing a close, decision win over former undisputed champion, Petr Yan in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
A product of Dana White’s Contender Series – O’Malley claims he has been guaranteed a shot at bantamweight gold next, as he lays in anticipation of next month’s bantamweight title fight between champion, Aljamain Sterling, and former two-weight champion, Henry Cejudo at UFC 288.

Footage has emerged of former UFC welterweight contender and one-time lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz involved in a street fight overnight in New Orleans, where he chokes out a civilian during a skirmish, dropping him on the street.
Diaz, a one-time lightweight contender under the UFC banners and one of the bigger stars in the sport of mixed martial arts, attended a MisFits x DAZN boxing event in New Orleans last night, taking in fights including a bout which featured his teammate and training partner, UFC and Bellator alum, Chris Avila.
Involved in an altercation at the event, Diaz, who was sitting front row, launched a full water bottle at boxer, Chase DeMoor, who was disqualified from his bout earlier in the night having punched his opponent multiple times despite him being grounded after a knockdown.

And following the event, a scuffle involving Nate Diaz and numerous bystanders poured out onto the streets of New Orleans, with video footage catching the Stockton native choking a man unconscious before walking away from the fight.
Diaz, 38, can be seen engaging in a physical altercation with the man in question, before grabbing onto a front choke after kneeing the man in the body from a clinch position, and eventually choking the man unconscious, before dropping his now-limp body on the street.
Footage also emerged of UFC president, Dana White reacting to Nate Diaz’s altercation whilst playing poker at a casino, questioning if the man in question who was on the receiving end of the choke was WWE superstar and YouTuber, Logan Paul.

Mayweather Promotions CEO, Leonard Ellerbe has confirmed his interest in potentially hosting another boxing clash between his client, former boxing world champion, Floyd Mayweather, and former undisputed UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor.
Retiring from professional boxing following his stoppage victory over the former duel-weight UFC champion, Mayweather has, however, taken multiple exhibition boxing matches in the time since, against the likes of YouTuber and professional wrestling star, Logan Paul, and former Geordie Shore reality television feature, Aaron Chalmers to name a few.
Leonard Ellerbe welcomes Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor rematch
Linked with a potential rematch against McGregor, 34, in the future – Mayweather’s handler, Ellerbe confirmed that he would love to pit the two together again inside the squared circle.
“I would love it [a rematch],” Leonard Ellerbe told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I’ve got nothing but love for the UFC and Conor McGregor.
