Former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor has labelled undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul a “flop” and a “nobody” – as well as questioning the polarizing puncher’s drawing power, amid links to a potential boxing match in the future.

McGregor, a former undisputed featherweight and lightweight champion under the UFC’s banner, has been sidelined since July of last year, headlining UFC 264 against three-time foe and former interim lightweight titleholder, Dustin Poirier.

Suffering a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss, McGregor fractured his left tibia at the end of the opening round against the Louisiana native, and is yet to return to the Octagon since.

UFC president, Dana White recently revealed that the 33-year-old is targeting his return to the promotion either at the end of this year, if not the beginning of the 2023 schedule.

Confirming his plans to return to mixed martial arts competition first and foremost, McGregor has been constantly linked to a slew of boxing matches during his time on the sidelines, including a fight with undefeated YouTuber, Paul.

Conor McGregor questions the pulling power of Jake Paul

Predicting a payday in the region of $75,000,000 to $100,000,000 for a professional clash with McGregor, Paul received the wrath of the Crumlin native, who referred to him as a “flop”.

“(Laughing face emoji) You’ve 2 fights (sic) and done 70k buys,” Conor McGregor tweeted at Jake Paul.

“You are a flop, kid,” Conor McGregor tweeted. “A nobody.”

Last time out, Paul, the younger brother of fellow content creator, Logan Paul – rematched former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley – defeating the St. Louis veteran with a crushing December knockout.

Following another failed matchup with Tommy Fury, Paul is expected to share the squared circle with Hasim Rahman Jr. – the son of former heavyweight champion, Hasim Rahman, at an August 6. event at Madison Square Garden.

Ahead of his August 6. professional boxing return against Hasim Rahman Jr. at Madison Square Garden, unbeaten puncher, Jake Paul had double-downed on calls for a fight against UFC welterweight veteran, Nate Diaz when the latter completes his contractual obligations with the organization.

Paul, undefeated as a professional boxer boasting a 5-0 record, managed to land a huge knockout win against former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley back in December of last year.

The 25-year-old had previously handed the St. Louis native a close, split decision defeat in August of last year, off the back of a stunning first round knockout success against Ben Askren in April.

Expected to initially return against his fellow undefeated, Tommy Fury at an August 6. MSG event, Paul has since landed a main event bout against the aforenoted, Rahman Jr. – the son of former heavyweight boxing champion, Hasim Rahman.

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz have been continually linked with a potential fight

Continually eyeing a fight with the disgruntled UFC veteran, Diaz, Paul insists that a fight with the Stockton fan-favorite is on his mind next, first and foremost, claiming that the duo have unfinished business.

“I think Nate Diaz is first and foremost,” Jake Paul told TMZ Sports. “That’s the one that everyone’s been warning. Everyone knows he (Nate Diaz) only has one or two fights left with the UFC.”

“So, hopefully, when he’s done with that, we can run it back because there’s some unsettled sh*t talk there,” Jake Paul continued.

Calling for his continued release from his contract with the UFC, Diaz has also recently called for a fight at UFC 277 on July 30. at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Last time out, the one-time lightweight title challenger suffered a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 263 back in June of last year in a five round defeat.

Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury Is Off, Paul Will Now Face Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6

The fight between Jake  Paul and Tommy Fury is reportedly off, with ‘The Problem Child’ now set to face Hasim Rahman Jr.

Last week, shortly after the official announcement had been made that the fight between Jake Paul and Fury was finally going to take place on August 8, Fury was denied entry to the US.

Before even getting on the plane at Heathrow airport, Homeland Security told Fury that his ESTA had been denied, this probably being due to the Fury’s links to Daniel Kinahan. Kinahan is allegedly the boss of an international multi-billion-dollar drug cartel based out of Ireland.

In April the US government introduced sanctions on the Kinahan’s and their associates, also putting a 5 million dollar reward for information that would leave to the arrest of either Kinahan, his brother Christy Kinahan Jr. and his father Kristy Kinahan Sr.

Although it seemed that Fury’s denied entrance was a bump in the road, it was assumed that somehow the situation would be remedied and the event would go ahead. However, it now seems that we will not see the fight between Fury and Paul take place, as ‘The Problem Child’ has since found a replacement for the August 6 date.

Hasim Rahman Jr. Steps In Against Jake Paul

Jake Paul is now set to take on one of his former training partners and heavyweight boxer, Hasim Rahman Jr.

Rahman is the son of heavyweight legend Hasim Rahman Sr., who had his best years in the late 90s to the early 00s, having famously knocked Lennox Lewis out to capture the heavyweight title.

Although not quite on the same level as his father, Rahman has carved out a solid professional record for himself of 12-1, with half those wins coming by stoppage. Rahman’s most recent outing would see him be TKO’d by James McKenzie Morrison, who is the son of former heavyweight world champion, Tommy Morrison.

Although this may seem a big step up in class for Paul, and is a better opponent than Tyron Woodley, it is not as daunting as it may seem. Rahman does not hold a win over a fighter with a positive record (more wins than loses) and when he did take a step up in class against Morrison, he was thoroughly beaten, with all judges awarding every round to Morrison before Rahman was knocked out.

Paul has spent time sparring with Rahman, and he and his team obviously see something that they feel they can take advantage of.

What do you think of Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr.?

Former UFC champion, Bas Rutten has offered to train Tommy Fury for his boxing match against social media star, Jake Paul.

It was recently announced that after one bout cancellation and months of social media back and forths, Tommy Fury and Jake Paul were finally slated to fight on August 6. Even with Fury recently being denied access to the United States, potentially due to his brother’s association with alleged cartel leader, Daniel Kinahan, it still seems inevitable that the pair will meet at some point in the future.

It was also reported that Fury was set to appoint Shane McGuigan, who has trained the likes of Carl Frampton, David Haye, and Josh Taylor, as his head coach, replacing his father, John Fury.

Even with this news, former UFC heavyweight champion and MMA pioneer, Bas Rutten, says that he would offer to train Fury for Paul fight.

“I would love to train Tommy Fury, are you kidding?” Rutten said to Karate Combat. “S**t, for the Fury family; I love Tyson. Major fan of this guy and I think [that] we can do some damage.”

“Yeah, it would be great. I’ll be in the corner. Yeah, at least he has a cornerman.” (H/T) GiveMeSport)

Rutten added that he felt he knew the style to defeat Paul, saying that if to Fury was to change up his stance it would give him a greater chance of success.

“I have a different style, it’s more of an open stance,” Rutten said. “And I think a lot of people are really not reactive to it. Tyson used to fight like that and was very effective with it. It gives you almost equal power in both left and right hands.”

Do you think Bas Rutten should train Tommy Fury?
