Muhammad Mokaev has gotten his wish.

Mokaev, a highly-touted prospect, signed with the UFC just a few weeks ago and after Cody Durden said he was sending Aoriqileng back to China, Mokaev took to social media saying he wanted to fight the “racist” and smash him in his UFC debut.

Now, according to MMAJunkie, Mokaev vs. Durden is set to take place on March 19 which is targeted to be a UFC London card. Mokaev has since confirmed the fight on social media.

Muhammad Mokaev (5-0 and one No Contest) is just 21-years-old and coming off a second-round submission win over Blaine O’Driscoll at BRAVE CF 54 in September. He’s the former IMAAF bantamweight champion and also holds a notable win over Abdul Hussein. Mokaev was born in Dagestan but trains in England now, so this will also be a homecoming fight for him.

Cody Durden (12-3-1) picked up his first UFC win back at UFC Vegas 43 where he edged out a close decision over Aoriqileng. After the win, the comments he made were not well received as several fighters called him out for being racist, along with Daniel Cormier ending the post-fight interview. In the UFC, he was submitted by Jimmy Flick and in his debut, he fought Chris Gutierrez to a draw.

With the addition of Mokaev vs. Durden at flyweight, the March 19 card is as follows:

  • Francisco Figueiredo vs. Jake Hadley
  • Luana Carolina vs. Molly McCann
  • Cody Durden vs. Muhammad Mokaev

Who do you think will win, Muhammad Mokaev vs. Cody Durden?

Aoriqileng Brands Cody Durden A Coward After “Back to China” Comment

Aoriqileng, Cody Durden

UFC flyweight Aoriqileng has responded to the controversial comment aimed at him by opponent Cody Durden following their fight this past weekend.

Aoriqileng and Durden squared off inside the Octagon in the third bout of UFC Vegas 43 on Saturday. In a contest where neither man impressed, the American emerged victorious on the judges’ scorecards, a decision which many disagreed with. But the real talking point came in the immediate aftermath of the result.

During his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Durden first called on fans to follow him on Instagram. He then appeared to kill any chance he had of building some support by admitting he wanted to send Aoriqileng “back to China.”

Aoriqileng Fires Back After “Disgusting” Remark

The comment received an immediate gasp from the small crowd in attendance at the Apex, and was subject to a rightfully large dose of scrutiny over social media, with fans and fighters alike describing Durden as racist and xenophobic. The 30-year-old’s response did little to convince people otherwise.

Durden essentially put his comment down to the fact he believed Aoriqileng had been “disrespectful” by not shaking his hand at the weigh-ins. Now days out from the controversial incident, “The Mongolian Murderer” has fired back at his flyweight peer. Taking to Instagram, the 28-year-old claimed he was the true victor and slammed Durden for his “disgusting” words.

“I destroyed this coward in the cage, but the judges gave him a chance to say something disgusting through his disgusting mouth. He can do nothing in the fight, and I saw fear through his eyes. He is a coward.”

While the likes of Din Thomas, UFC women’s flyweight Casey O’Neill, and welterweight contender Belal Muhammad made their disdain for Durden known, some expressed their willingness to teach the Georgia native a lesson inside the cage.

After being called out by Durden prior to the controversial comment, Jeff Molina described the 30-year-old as a “POS (piece of shit)” and said he’d be more than happy to punch him in the face. New UFC signing Muhammad Mokaev also expressed his desire to make himself known to UFC fans by giving a beating to Durden in his Octagon debut.

What did you make of Cody Durden’s comment and his subsequent non-apology?

UFC flyweight Aoriqileng wasn’t happy when he heard Cody Durden telling him to ‘go back to China’ during his UFC Vegas 43 post-fight interview.

Durden defeated Aoriqileng in a back-and-forth bout at UFC Vegas 43. It was the first win of Durden’s young UFC career, and Aoriqileng’s second straight loss in the Octagon.

But support for Durden quickly turned to hostile backlash after he said he had to ‘send [Aoriqileng] back to China’ when asked about his approach to the fight. UFC commentator Daniel Cormier quickly ended the post-fight interview and the UFC community roasted Durden on social media and at the UFC Apex.

Aoriqileng had been relatively quiet since the fight and post-fight comments, but he addressed Durden’s racially-charged remarks via an Instagram post.

“I destroyed this forward in the cage, but the judges gave him a chance to say something disgusting through his disgusting mouth,” Aoriqileng said. “He couldn’t do nothing in the fight, and I saw fear through his eyes. He is a coward.”

Aoriqileng Responded To Cody Durden’s ‘Go Back To China’ Post-Fight Comments

Entering his fight with Durden, Aoriqileng desperately needed a win after falling in his UFC debut to Jeff Molina at UFC 261. He has yet to pick up his first UFC win after the loss to Durden.

Before signing with the UFC, he competed in brief stints with WLF and KFWC.

In his additional post-fight media availability, Durden told reporters that he saw nothing wrong with his comments. A few hours later, he posted on his Twitter an apology to Aoriqileng and clarified that his words weren’t racially motivated.

That didn’t stop the UFC fanbase from blasting Durden for his post-fight interview. It’s unclear if he’ll receive punishment from the UFC brass and Dana White for the incident.

Do you agree with Aoriqileng on Cody Durden’s comments?

UFC flyweight Cody Durden has responded to the swift and heavy backlash for saying he sent his defeated opponent “back to China.”

Yesterday on the UFC Vegas 43 preliminary card, Cody Durden defeated Chinese opponent Qileng Aori via unanimous decision. This was Durden’s first victory in the UFC, which means that it called for his first post-fight interview. And boy, did he make it a memorable one.

“I knew he was going to be tough, but I had to send him back to China where he came from,” Durden told a speechless Daniel Cormier after the fight.

It should come as little surprise that the post-fight interview ended there. And it should come as even less surprise that this comment was met with some major backlash. Here’s a quick glimpse at some fighters’ reactions on Twitter:

A Fired-Up Cody Durden

After emotions cooled down some on his end, Durden took to Twitter himself to explain his post-fight remark and respond to the criticism it incited.

“Listen, the guy was disrespectful, and wouldn’t shake my hand at the weigh ins. After beating him, I simply meant he could go home wherever that may have been. I apologize if I offended anyone, that certainly was not my intention!! I love you all! See you at the top,” Durden tweeted.

During a post-fight media scrum, Durden went on to express that if anyone truly has a problem with his words, they can do something about it inside the Octagon.

“No, man, if they don’t like it, do somethin’. Sign the contract,” Durden said. “It doesn’t matter to me. I said what I said, and it is what it is. And yeah, emotions were high. It’s the fight business, you know? He was punching me in the face and I was punching him in the face. It’s his family or mine. And tonight, my family eats.”

UFC President Dana White

Durden’s comments are consistent with that of Dana White’s stance on how to handle controversial remarks, which is, essentially, to just fight it out. One recent example of this came when Israel’s Oron Kahlon called Afghanistan’s Javid Basharat a “terrorist” prior to their Contender Series bout last month. After Basharat defeated Kahlon, White considered it “justice served” and further exemplification that the UFC is the place to settle all scores.

In this case, Durden was the victor, so White may have to amend his UFC “justice system,” if you will. In any event, there are, in fact, people wanting to fight Durden, but one of them wanted to fight him even before his viral post-fight interview, that being Jeff Molina.

Molina was among those who reacted to Durden’s post-fight interview, as you can see below:

“Dudes a real POS, I’ll gladly punch him in the face!!”

Durden also called out Molina in the post-fight interview prior to his “go back to China” comment. He later doubled down on this selection when speaking to reporters after the fight.

“Yeah, Jeff Molina. I’ve called out a lot of guys on Instagram, a lot of guys on Twitter, and most of them don’t respond, man,” Durden said. “They don’t say anything back. But props to El Jeffy. He said he’s gonna put his nuts on my head as I nose dive for a takedown, and I’m holding him to it. Let’s run it.”

Both men are in, so now it’s up to the UFC to make it official. Or perhaps Dana White will seek out a Chinese flyweight, either currently signed or unsigned, to attempt to exact “justice” on Durden instead.

What do you think? Was Durden’s comments out of bounds? Or are people overreacting and/or taking it out of context?

Cody Durden has apologized for a comment he made during his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier at UFC Vegas 43.

The flyweight fighter went all three rounds with his Chinese opponent Aori Qileng before ultimately taking home a unanimous decision win, but it was Durden’s post-fight speech and not his fighting that has garnered attention.

Former dual-weight champion, Cormier, entered the cage post-fight and asked Durden if the fight had played out as expected.

“I knew he was gonna be tough, but I had to send him back to China where he came from,” Durden replied.

The comment was met by a few boos from the mostly silent crowd.

Things got awkward when the UFC broadcast was tossed back to Brendan Fitzgerald.

“All right, Cody Durden, um, statement made I guess?” Fitzgerald said. “Victory in the octagon most importantly for this flyweight from Georgia.”

Cormier didn’t bother asking any follow-up questions and explained why to his fellow commentator when he returned to the desk.

“Fitzy, I was watching the highlights as he said that, so you know, you say that, I take the microphone, Fitzy,” Cormier said. “I have nothing else to do there.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)
