UFC welterweight title contender Colby Covington just went off on two of the UFC’s biggest stars. “Chaos” is known for his trash talk and decided to go after UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, as well as Conor McGregor.

UFC president Dana White has already stated Covington’s next fight will be UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman’s first official title defense. As of this writing, there’s no official date or location for the bout yet.

While doing a recent interview with BJPenn.com, Covington took issue with Jones and the former UFC “Champ Champ” for not making more of an effort to give back to their communities. This comes after Covington recently paid a visit to the men and women in uniform aboard the USS New York:

“What’s [Jon Jones] doing for the f**ing people as a champion of the UFC? What’s he out there going to do? He ain’t doing shit man,” Covington said. “He ain’t fucking giving back. He’s doing all this fake s**t. ‘Oh, I’m going to donate to kids.’

“Oh yeah, is that another tax write off? Tell the people the real reason why you’re doing that. So, you can get tax exemptions for you, you motherf**ker. You’re not a real real champion like me. I’m spending my money as a UFC champion out of my pocket.

“I’m going up to fleet week in New York, I’m gonna go hang out with the Marines, hang out with the Navy for a full week, dedicate my time schedule, go bring them my UFC title, hang out with them, show my support.

“Show my appreciation for everything they do for affording the opportunities that we have, for serving our country. What the f**k has Jon Jones ever done for the people?”

Jones is set to make his next title defense against surging contender Thiago Santos in the main event of July 6’s UFC 239 pay-per-view (PPV). On the flip side, McGregor has not fought since his submission loss to undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

Covington continued by bringing up McGregor’s past issues with the law, which include smashing a phone of a fan and the infamous bus attack prior to UFC 223:

“What’s Conor McGregor done? Smash the f**ing fans phone, threw a dolly through a bus. No. None of these motherf**kers are like me,” Colby Covington concluded. “I’m different from everybody. All these motherf**kers, they want to copy me now.”

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has yet to make his first title defense after defeating Tyron Woodley for the gold this past March.

“The Nigerian Nightmare” has been dealing with a string of injuries; as he recently underwent surgery for a double hernia, and is currently rehabbing an injured knee that was aggravated during his fight with Woodley.

As he tells MMA Fighting, however, Usman plans to be back in action before the end of the year (via MMA Mania):

“First of all, the most important thing is my health,” Usman said. “I had a pretty significant surgery after my last fight so I want to get back to the point where I can be in the gym and start training. Then I can become the active and dominant champ that I want to be.

“We’re talking some contracts that need to be worked out, we’re talking about logistics of where the fight can take place, and the most important is my injury. By the end of the year, I should be fighting again, for sure.”

No fight for Usman has officially been announced as of this writing. However, UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Colby Covington will be Usman’s first challenger.

There is plenty of bad blood between Covington and the champion, which should make for good fun in the build-up to the bout.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is itching to get back into training and defend his title for the first time.

Usman became the new 170-pound champion after he outclassed Tyron Woodley over five rounds at UFC 235 in March.

However, injuries have piled up as “The Nigerian Nightmare” is currently recovering from a damaged knee and fractured foot. He does, however, expect to return to action by the end of the year.

“It’s killing me, not training,” he said at a recent scrum (via BJ Penn). “I’m a guy who likes to train, I like to stay active. That’s the most important thing, to get back to where I’m healthy.. Then I can become the active and dominant champ that I want to be.”

Usman’s First Title Defense

Usman is expected to defend his title against longtime rival Colby Covington next. The only question for him, though, is whether Covington will actually accept the fight.

“I wanted Colby because I’ve wanted Colby for three years now,” he added. “They’ve offered me that fight at least 4-5 times, and I’ve accepted it each and every time. He’s the guy who has turned down the fight. I hope he’s man enough now to man up and take the fight.”

Even if Covington is not his first title defense, Usman is ready for just about anyone else in the top ranks of the division. That includes another rival in Ben Askren.

“Ben Askren was never an issue for me…I’m glad everyone is talking about him, that’s just another guy for me,” Usman explained. “After I get the next opponent, that’s another guy that’s waiting for me that I can go and defend against… but he’s got to fight Jorge Masvidal [first] and Masvidal’s no easy guy. Any one of those guys, I’m ready and I’m prepared for all of them.”

Colby Covington: ‘Little B*tch’ Nate Diaz Is Different Off Camera

Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington believes Nate Diaz’s behavior with him proves he doesn’t want to face him.

Diaz will return to action when he takes on Anthony Pettis in a welterweight bout at UFC 241 on August 17 in Anaheim, California.

Covington rates the contest as an exciting matchup, but ultimately believes both Diaz and Pettis are too old to compete with the very top of the 170-pound division.

“Two lightweights coming up to welterweight because they’re on these doughboy diets,” Covington told BJPenn.com Radio. “They can’t make their limit of 155 anymore. It’s an exciting matchup for the fans. It’s two guys that are way past their time that are just going to come in slobber knocker and we’ll see what happens. Who is going to get their hand raised. No one knows. Is it going to be Pettis? Is it going to be Diaz?

“I don’t think either one of them wants to come fight for a title at welterweight. These are guys that are at the top of the division that are in their prime right now are good everywhere. They can fight. They’re not just strikers, they’re not just wrestlers. They’re not just jiujitsu guys. They can do it all.”

Covington vs. Diaz?

Of course, if Diaz wins a couple of fights at 170 pounds and Covington defeats Kamaru Usman to become the welterweight champion, the two could collide in the future. It would also represent a money fight given Diaz’s popularity.

But “Chaos” believes Diaz doesn’t want to face him deep down, and thinks it’s evident from the Stockton native’s behavior on and off camera.

“Nate Diaz, his energy, he’s not the same guy as on cameras as he is off the camera,” Covington added. “I’ve seen him off camera, he’s all, ‘Colby, hey bro, much respect. You’re so tough, man.’ This and that, but on camera, he tries flipping me off. He tries to act like a hard a*s.

“So, he doesn’t want any of this. Deep down inside he knows he has no chance against me. He got mopped up by Dong Hyun Kim. I retired Dong Hyun Kim. He got mopped up by RDA. I beat the f*cking living brakes off RDA, left him for dead. Nate Diaz is a little b*tch. He knows who runs the West Coast. That’s Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.”

Covington is seemingly referring to when Diaz flipped him off during the UFC 235 event in March. Regardless, is this a matchup you would like to see in the future?
