Rafael Dos Anjos calls out former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor for a fight.

There is some history between these two fighters. Dos Anjos and McGregor were supposed to fight back at UFC 196 in a lightweight bout. However, “RDA” had to pull out of the fight with a foot injury on short notice.

This led to Nate Diaz stepping up to the plate and fighting McGregor at the event on just eight days notice. McGregor would end up losing that fight when he was choked out.

Also, it would lead to Eddie Alvarez getting the title from Dos Anjos and McGregor later beat him for the strap at UFC 205.

The former lightweight champion made it known that he is willing to fight McGregor at any weight class. He issued the following challenge to Conor with this post on his official Twitter account:

“We have unfinished business, we got close to get it done twice. You pick the weightclass #RDA #Brasil #JesusFirst.”

Conor McGregor didn’t spend a lot of time talking about the MMA award he had won, but took a moment to fire some shots at UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum…

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is on fire right now. Having destroyed his bitter rival Jose Aldo at UFC 194 after a year long rivalry, he now moves up to lightweight to take on the king of the 155-pound division Rafael dos Anjos. He didn’t waste any time in throwing out some crazy statements about his new Brazilian foe, going as far as accusing RDA of being a traitor to his country, and saying he would behead the lightweight boss at UFC 196 (originally 197).

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, training partner of dos Anjos at Kings MMA in Brazil, didn’t take too kindly to McGregor’s brash behaviour at the event’s presser. He reacted by saying he would slap ‘The Notorious One’ if he behaved that way in his presence, and a new rivalry with another Brazilian champion was born, then came the injuries.

It seems every interview or moment in the limelight is big news when Conor McGregor is involved, and even ‘Vai Cavalo’ who is 110 pounds heavier is drawn in to beef with the Irishman. Even though they’ll likely never fight, it hasn’t stopped the rivalry between the two champions growing. After Werdum and Velasquez both pulled out of their title rematch set for today (February 6, 2016) and the entire UFC schedule was pulled back one number, McGregor had a classic response for the stricken champ of the heavys.

Check out the full list of current UFC champions and how they came to conquer their divisions. Who is your favorite UFC champ right now?

The current crop of UFC champions is an interesting scene. There’s been new marquee divisions emerge over the recent years, and also the heaviest and lightest divisions continue to struggle in their own respects. We’ve seen a changing of the guard unlike ever before, as all but the flyweight title have changed hands in the last year. It’s crazy when you think about it, as it appears to be getting even harder to be what’s considered a ‘long reigning’ champion.

In honor of the UFC champions that are in place as of today (2/5/2016), we’ve compiled a list of current UFC title holders and how they won their belts. Enjoy.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk wasn't that impressed with Carla Esparza's ...

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk holds all the records at the lowest weight class right now. She is one of the most dominant fighters ever to cross over from the world of Muay Thai, is unbeaten at 11-0 in her mixed martial arts career, and arguably has the best striking in the sport today.

Facing Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in March 2015, a night where two titles changed hands, Joanna ‘Champion’ scored a brutal TKO over a bewildered Esparza.

Demetrious Johnson

Mighty Mouse

Demetrious Johnson is the dominant champion of the UFC flyweight division, but is highly unheralded in his pursuit. Currently riding a nine fight unbeaten streak, seven as champion, he’s rumoured to face Henry Cejudo next time out.

He is the only ever UFC flyweight champ, having won the belt after a tournament in 2012, defeating Joseph Benavidez by decision. As that’s 25 minutes of action though, we’ll show you the rematch, where he blasted ‘J-Bo’ with a stunning first round knockout:

DominickCruzWins

Dominick Cruz

The original UFC bantamweight champion was forced to vacate his belt after years of career threatening injuries to his lower body, making his most recent win so much more special. A brief comeback against Takeya Mizugaki in 2014 showed ‘The Dominator’ was still very motivated, and it sparked a rivalry with the champ of the time, TJ Dillashaw.

The rivalry was settled at UFC Fight Night 81, where Cruz edged his rival on the judge’s scorecards with his incredible footwork.

Rafael Dos Anjos: Conor McGregor Called Irish Fans ‘Traitors,’ They Should Abandon Him

It may have seemed that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor couldn’t get any more brash or outspoken in his instant-classic media quips, but heading into his historic bid to become the first simultaneous two-division champion when he faces Rafael dos Anjos at March’s 5 UFC 197, just that is actually transpiring.

As usual, ‘Notorious’ ramped up the promotion for the blockbuster affair as only he can do at a press conference this week, promising to ‘dust dos Anjos’ in one minute and go on to win the welterweight crown, but he also may have crossed a line when he brought race into the equation by calling ‘RDA’ a traitor to his Brazilian country men due to him moving his family and camp to California.

McGregor has, of course, brought Brazil into the mix before his highly hyped promotion for his 13-second of Jose Aldo at last December 12’s UFC 194, but this time it’s gotten personal. Dos Anjos understandably isn’t too pleased with the accusations, and he lashed out at McGregor at the event.
