Donald Cerone and Conor McGregor faced off at the UFC 246 pre-fight press conference earlier this week. To our surprise the pair were friendly throughout and even shared compliments about each other’s clothes. The pair famous for their love of animal skins, joked about the repercussions they may face at the hands of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Cerrone said of his clothes. “I’m sure PETA might be here because I got rattlesnakes on and python.” To which McGregor responded. “They have a warrant out for me as well, PETA. They’re coming for me, too.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The UFC fighters weren’t wrong. PETA took to social media to slam the two men, calling them cowards for wearing animals’ skins. Speaking on Twitter the organisation said. “You’re right! We ARE here – to remind you that only COWARDS would brag about wearing an animal who was likely beaten & skinned alive. Why don’t you knock out your insecurities and only wear your own skin?”

Once he was made aware of the tweet from PETA, ‘Cowboy responded in epic
fashion when speaking with MMA media, he said.

“Man, I guess if killing humans was legal, I could probably wear a bad-ass human jacket. I got a white buffalo at home, PETA. And when she crokes, I’m going to wear a (expletive) (expletive)ass white buffalo cape one of these days. At the ranch I have a lot of animals: turkeys, goats, chickens, pigs. We kill them and butcher them, and we eat them all ourselves, man. We use every bit of them. So, it’s not like I don’t just go down to the store and buy beef. We raise it and kill it and eat it. So, if there’s something inhumane or unjust about killing beef for my own sake, PETA, you’re (expletive) up. Granted, I didn’t kill the snake or raise the snake to build a python jacket, but goddammit it was (expletive) cool, so I had to wear to it.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

UFC President Dana White is expecting the best Conor McGregor to turn up at UFC 246 this weekend. The Irishman will return to the octagon to face Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, after over a year out of action. Although ring rust may play a factor, White expects ‘Notorious’ to be in the best shape of his life. That’s if the UFC doctors are to be believed anyway. Speaking to TMZ Sports the UFC boss said.

“I’m hearing
that he’s in phenomenal shape right now. The UFC doctor is saying he thinks
Conor is in the best shape he’s ever seen him in. His head seems to be in the
right place. Ring rust is real. I believe in it, we’ll see how that goes. I
think the level of disrespect shown to ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone by the media, by a lot of
the fans and definitely the sports books in Las Vegas is insanity.”

This claim adds to what McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh has already said about the 31-year-old fighter. The SBG Ireland owner previously claimed his man was in peak condition, “the best I’ve seen him” heading into this return bout on Jan 18.

Speaking
about the UFC 246 main event, White believes its an interesting matchup for
various reasons.

“This fight
is interesting on a lot of different levels. Obviously Conors been out for a
while, Conor has fought two times at 170lbs. He’s got a win and a loss at 170lbs.
I believe in ring rust. ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has gone on these two fight skids
before and come back. ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is almost one of those guys that needs
something big to fight for. It’s more than just the money and all the things
that go along with it. This is the type of fight that ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is an
absolute spoiler in. This is his deal. These are the type of fights he likes to
be in.”

Donald Cerrone addresses what’s delaying his rumored fight against former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. This is a bout that has been speculated to take place on July 6th as part of International Fight week in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena.

Longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan revealed the problem comes down to the position of the card as he’s heard the UFC wanted to place them in the co-main event. He shared the news on his most recent podcast with former UFC star Brendan Schaub.

While doing a recent interview with with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Cerrone confirmed that part of the delay is due to McGregor not wanting to be in the co-headliner spot.

“Conor won’t fight unless it’s a main event,” Cerrone said. “I don’t know if it’s an ego thing or a status thing for him. I don’t give a sh*t. I’ll fight anyone, anywhere, and I stand by that all the time. I guess he’s a prima donna and only takes main event spots, I don’t know.”

“I’m more annoyed that he went radio silent after putting it out. I get it, you want to stay relevant by putting it out there, but then you can’t go radio silent. Sack up, bitch. Sign the f*cking paper.”

Joe Rogan offers a reason that he thinks a potential fight between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone may not happen. This has been a fight that many fans have expressed interest in seeing. While McGregor and Cerrone have hinted at it, UFC President Dana White has made it known that it’s not a done deal.

Just last month, the former lightweight title contender teased the possible dates in a recent photo shared on his Instagram account. He captioned it with, “April 13 or July 6th.” Then he would follow it up with July 6th as the likely confirmed date.

The longtime UFC color commentator talked about this fight between Cerrone and the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion. This talk came about on his most recent podcast with former UFC star Brendan Schaub.

According to Rogan, the problem come down to the position of the card as he’s heard the UFC wanted to place them in the co-main event.

“They were trying to do ‘Cowboy’ versus Conor and apparently the sticking point was that it was going to be a co-main event,” Rogan said (H/T to MMANews). “I think the idea is that they have to have world titles as a main event for pay-per-view.”

“I think he’s only interested in big fights,” Rogan said. “Like things that excite him now because he’s got so much money and so much success. It’s just one of those things.”

If this is true that the UFC wanted to put their biggest star and PPV draw in a co-headlining role is surprising. It’s also hard to believe. Time will tell whether this fight actually gets booked.

Donald Cerrone offers a bold prediction for a potential showdown against former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

The two stars are down for the fight as there was speculation late last year and then in January. It all started after they traded some words. This exchange is believed to be a sign that both fighters are willing to share the Octagon together.

Cerrone finished Alexander Hernandez in a lightweight bout in the second round by TKO at the UFC on ESPN+ 1 event. This show went down down on Saturday night (January 19, 2019) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Following the fight, Cerrone called him out and McGregor responded by stating that he would be willing to book the fight.

While doing a Q&A session with fans before the UFC 234 PPV event in Australia, Cerrone talked about this fight. This included a timeline for it and his prediction.

“It’s definitely going to be this year, this summer I think,” Cerrone said (H/T to MMAJunkie). “But hey, Irish, Australian, American – (expletive) root for whoever you want. I love it man. Boo, cheer.”

“I’m just going to go out there and fight my ass off. I really am. Definitely the standup – I’m going to stand and fight him. I’m not going to try to wrestle him, I’m going to (expletive) stand and give you all what you want to see. (My prediction is a) second-round head kick (knockout).
