The Golden State Warriors forward responded to a photo of McGregor in a Warriors jersey by writing on Instagram, “We rocking with Floyd bro not you…take that off bruh.”

McGregor responded to Green in the comments, saying of the No. 23 jersey: “That’s C.J Watson mate. I don’t know who the f–k you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school.”

He added: “Now ask yourself why I’m rocking C.J. when I don’t know or give a f–k about basketball. I dribble heads off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here kid.”

So why wear a Watson jersey? From USA Today‘s Martin Rogers:

“Back in January, back when the fight still seemed improbable, McGregor took aim at his opponent’s ugly domestic violence record. Mayweather spent time in prison for battering Josie Harris, mother to three of his children, in September 2010.

Having split with Harris, she says he entered her home in the middle of the night and was infuriated to find messages from NBA player C.J. Watson on her phone. Mayweather’s son, Koraun, then 10, told the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that he had seen his father on top of Harris—hitting and kicking her.”

McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are set to face off Aug. 26 in one of the more intriguing fights in recent memory. That’s due to McGregor’s background as an MMA fighter, not a boxer, and Mayweather’s perfect 49-0 record on the line.

The buildup to the fight has been controversial, however, with many decrying the amount of racial insensitivity on display.

As Khaled A. Beydoun of The Undefeated wrote:

“Boxing’s checkered history of capitalizing on racial and ethnic rivalries to sell bouts has taken a turn for the worse with this unprecedented megafight, with racist taunts and bigoted trash talk showcased, loudly and vividly, throughout the four-city press tour that concluded in London on July 14.”

Among other comments, McGregor told Mayweather to “dance for me, boy” during the press tour. Mayweather has hardly been an angel, however, using misogynistic and homophobic language during the lead-up to the fight.

It’s unclear if McGregor’s behavior during the press tour is the reason Green is pulling for Mayweather or if he is simply a fan of the undefeated boxer. But if two of the loudest men in sports, Green and McGregor, are about to exchange a war of words online, things could heat up quickly.

Following last weeks both controversial an exhausting world tour, August 26’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor is rapidly approaching from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

McGregor will attempt to do something no man has ever done, and that’s defeat the 49-0 Mayweather in a boxing ring. And the Irishman will do it without a true professional boxing fight to his credit, even if his trash talk and pre-fight hype has somehow placed him as roughly a +400 underdog on the quickly shrinking odds, a figure fall smaller than many of Mayweather’s recent opponents who were considered some of the best pugilists in the sport.

That’s a testament to “The Notorious’” sheer ability to promote a fight and get fans believing in him, and it’s obvious that Mayweather has partnered with SHOWTIME Sports to become the biggest name in boxing himself, even if he has been retired for two years. It all leads to a massive co-promotion with the UFC that could legitimately be the biggest combat sports fight of all-time.

With the date just over a month away, SHOWTIME released the official fight poster (not the announcement poster) on Twitter this weekend. Check it out:

Jose Aldo is set to engage in competition once again next week, but this time it won’t be inside the UFC Octagon.

The former 145-pound kingpin is coming off his second loss in over a decade as he was finished in the fourth round of his featherweight title unifier against Max Holloway last month (Sat. June 3, 2017). After seeming to control the opening rounds of the bout, the Hawaiian rocked “Scarface” with a nasty combo, and it was all downhill for the Brazilian from there.

Just over one month later, however, Aldo is set to feed his competitive drive once again as he is slated to take part in the  IBJJF’s Master International Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament runs through July 28th to the 30th. The federation made the following announcement yesterday (Thurs. July 20, 2017):

“We are very honored to have the great Jose Aldo Junior registered for the Master South America,” IBJJF said. “We can’t wait to see this MMA legend representing the Nova União team in the light division.”

Aldo will be competing in the lightweight division of the tournament, along with three-time world champion Celsinho Venicius. Aldo has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under longtime head-coach and manager Andre Pederneiras. He hasn’t competed in a jiu-jitsu rules tournament for over a decade.

He defeated the now-highly-decorated Rubens Charles “Cobrinha” as a brown belt back in 2004 before winning the CBJO gold, and then transitioned into mixed martial arts (MMA).

Aldo has only ever lost two fights in his UFC career – a 13-second knockout loss to Conor McGregor for the featherweight title back in December of 2015, and to Holloway last month.
