Conor McGregor eases concern ahead of UFC 303 amid party footage jaws are getting smashed

Amid concern from fans across social media for former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor ahead of his return to the Octagon at UFC 303 next month, the former gold holder claims “jaws are getting smashed” in his fierce clash with Michael Chandler.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight titleholder under the banner of the promotion, returns to the Octagon at the end of June, headlining UFC 303 in a welterweight tangle opposite veteran foe, Chandler.

Snapping a three-year hiatus in tandem with his return to the welterweight limit, McGregor has been sidelined since he fractured his left tibia and fibula in a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO defeat to common-foe, Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. 

However, over the course of the weekend, fans on social media expressed their concern for McGregor, who posted footage of himself partying into the early hours at his Black Forge Inn public house in Dublin, as well as appearing to reach into a female’s blouse.

And predicting a knockout victory over Chandler early in their clash at UFC 303, McGregor responded to fan outcry overnight, claiming he is built different than other fighters, and plans to smash both “jaws” and “records” during International Fight Week.

“Some a just built different,” Conor McGregor wrote on his official Instagram account. “I am only now coming into my own. June 29th, records and jaw’s (sic) are getting smashed. Onwards and upwards! #FightingIrish”

Sharing his thoughts on McGregor’s antics over the weekend, UFC bantamweight contender and fellow Irish star, Caolan Loughran criticized the Dubliner for his apparent lack of respect for the sport, blasting him for being “blind drunk” just weeks from his return.

However, former middleweight champion, Michael Bisping claimed that while McGregor is a less than ideal scenario to find himself partying so close to a fight – the veteran striker will likely be “fine” when it comes to sharing the Octagon with Chandler.

Furthermore, McGregor received mass criticizm from social media users, after posting footage of himself partying with the crowd at the venue, before appearing to grasp and reach into a woman’s blouse.

Sharing his thoughts on McGregor’s antics ahead of his fight with Chandler next month, the above-mentioned, Loughran – fresh from his own win against Angel Pacheco, called for the Dubliner to respect the sport more, and hit out at him for being “blind drunk” so close to his fight.

“Don’t like it,” Caolan Loughran posted on social media in relation to footage of Conor McGregor partying. “Respect the game.”

“I give him (Conor McGregor) all the respect and always have,” Caolan Loughran replied to a comment. “Man changed the game. I’m criticizing the fact he’s 6 weeks out from a fight blind drunk promoting it like it’s cool. What about the 15 year old in the gym looking in. What the f*ck are you on about promotional purposes?”

Dustin Poirier unsure on fourth clash with Conor McGregor

And claiming prior to his return in Newark how a fourth pairing with McGregor – whom he has twice defeated was likely off the cards, Poirier has now maintained that another clash could land in the Octagon, albeit unlikely.

“It could, if the stars align,” Dustin Poirier told ESPN Radio of a fourth fight with Conor McGregor. “But, it just feels [pointless] even talking abou tit. After going through the rivalry with him for so many years, and fighting him back-to-back in 2021. As I prepare to get ready for a fight week for the undisputed belt, and he’s fighting a guy whose last fight I choked him out.”

“It just feels so far removed, and so many things have to happen before then,” Dustin Poirier continued. “So, I’ll just focus on right now, and that’s Islam Makhachev.”
