By now, Conor McGregor’s actions that took place last Thursday following UFC 223 media day at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York have been highly publicized and many have been highly critical of the Irish star, who ended up spending a night in jail late last week.

One of those people happens to be longtime UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, who recently spoke with TMZ on McGregor’s bizarre rampage:

“Never think anything like this could ever happen,” Buffer said. “In my 22-plus years of being in the UFC and doing everything I can in my life to build this great brand and to support this fantastic sport … it’s like you sh*t on all of us – with that one move. That’s not what we’re about. Perception is reality out there. I don’t understand how anybody could condone that kind of behavior, and if they do, then obviously they will be willing to do that kind of behavior.”

Essentially, it’s assumed that McGregor arrived in New York to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov, who had gotten into a bit of an altercation with Artem Lobov, a close friend and training partner of McGregor’s, earlier in the week.

And while some have praised McGregor for defending Lobov, Buffer sees no justification for the “Notorious” one’s actions:

“As a whole, everyone has their own personal reaction, but I think it’s total disgust,” Buffer said.

“I don’t care who they are. Anybody that justifies that has a problem,” he added. “I could say something else right now, and I want to say it, but I’m telling you right now: They have a problem. I’m being very polite.

“We’ll see how it all pans out,” Buffer said. “There’s no excuse for it. It’s an insult. It’s disgusting. I mean, that’s not what we’re about. … This is something that occurred with one individual. It’s separate from who we are.”

As far as what happens next, McGregor will have to appear in court in June with his fighting future currently unclear.

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor has broken his silence on social media.

Not only has the MMA community been talking about his latest antics but the mainstream has been as well.

McGregor and several members of his entourage decided to fly from Ireland to Brooklyn, New York last Thursday to get revenge on current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

If you recall, Khabib got into a verbal altercation with Artem Lobov, who is a training partner of McGregor’s, at the hotel where all of the fighters who were competing at the UFC 223 pay-per-view event.

McGregor didn’t appreciate the situation and wanted revenge on the newly crowned champ.

Thus, he and his group made there way down to where the buses were at the arena that had fighters on it.

This was when all heck broke loose as McGregor started throwing trash cans, chairs, barricades and other items at the buses.

McGregor turned himself into the NYPD following his destruction late Thursday night.

As a result, he was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

On Friday, Dillon Danis posted McGregor’s $50,000 bond and the former champ was released from custody. McGregor is due another court appearance on June 14th.

On Tuesday (April 10, 2018), McGregor posted for the first time on any social media platform that he has by posting a photo and a praying emoji. You can see it here:

Last week, Conor McGregor took over the mixed martial arts world when he arrived in Brooklyn and stormed a media day prior to this past weekend’s (April 7, 2018) UFC 223.

Ultimately, it’s assumed that McGregor was looking for the event’s headliner, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Earlier in the week, “The Eagle” had a run-in with a teammate of McGregor’s, Artem Lobov, which didn’t seem to sit well with the Irishman.

When all was said and done, McGregor was arrested in New York before being released on bail and presumably flying back to Ireland.

Following the events that took place, many have blasted the “Notorious” one for his actions, but former middleweight champion Michael Bisping actually gave McGregor a bit of praise, although admitting like many others that he did indeed make a mistake:

“There are no gangs in MMA,” Bisping told TMZ. “There are gangs in England. There are gangs in Dublin. There’s gangs all over the world just like right here. There are no gangs in MMA. Conor is not trying to be a gangster. Conor is just trying to look after his boys, right? Which you got to applaud him for. He made a mistake. That’s all it is.”

As far as McGregor goes, it’s currently unclear when he’ll fight again given that he now has more issues to sort out, although it would make sense for him to meet Nurmagomedov inside the Octagon when and if a return does come to fruition.

Bisping, meanwhile, is coming off of a brutal loss to Kelvin Gastelum this past November and is expected to fight once more before retiring.

Do you agree with “The Count’s” comments?
