Cris Cyborg blasts Amanda Nunes as in her eyes she sees her as a traitor and explained her beliefs in a recent interview to promote their fight.

The UFC women’s featherweight champion will take on the UFC women’s bantamweight champion at the UFC 232 pay-per-view event. This bout will serve as the main event.

As seen in the main event of the UFC 222 event on pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cyborg successfully retained her title against newcomer Yana Kunitskaya. The finish of the fight saw her pick up a TKO win in the first round. This marked her latest bout with the promotion.

Cris Cyborg Blasts

Cyborg recently stated in a recent interview with FanSided.com that she believes Nunes doesn’t represent her home country and therefore, it’s an embarrassment that she is the first female Brazilian champion.

“‘Creonte’ is a Brazilian word that means traitor. I think it’s embarrassing that the UFC made Amanda the first female Brazilian champion and instead of representing Brazil when she fights, she calls herself American Top Team. She disrespects Brazilian MMA fans every time she walks into the cage as a part of American Top Team. This is the same gym as Colby Covington. He disrespected Brazil so badly that the UFC was worried they didn’t have enough security to keep him safe and had to move his fight against [Rafael dos Anjos] to the USA instead of Brazil.”

“Yet Nunes goes into the gym every day to train alongside Colby Covington and even shares the same coaches. Where I’m from in Brazil this would never happen. Imagine Chael Sonnen walking into Chute Boxe and training with Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, or any of the coaches. Do you think they would have let him train after all the things he said about Brazil? No. They would have defended Brazil’s honor. Amanda doesn’t have that same respect for Brazil.”

Fight Date

The UFC 232 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

Amanda Nunes Says Win Over Cris Cyborg Would Make Her Women’s GOAT

Nunes has high expectations for her super fight with Cyborg.

Amanda Nunes says win over Cris Cyborg would make her the goat of women’s fighting if she is victorious at the UFC 232 pay-per-view event. This fight is actually going to happen after months of talking about it in interviews and social media.

Nunes (16-4) is fresh off a successful women’s bantamweight title defense over Raquel Pennington in May which was her seventh in a row to go along with her list of wins over some of the biggest names in the sport including Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, and Valentina Shevchenko.

The UFC women’s featherweight champion will take on the UFC women’s bantamweight champion with the featherweight strap being on the line. Nunes spoke with MMA Fighting where she noted that she thinks she should be considered the greatest female fighter of all-time with a win over Cyborg. She also shed some light on what made her change her mind about accepting this fight.

“For sure. That’s the reason why I made this decision to move up a division. I want fans to remember me like that. Winning on December 29, I won’t ever leave fans’ heads, that’s for sure. Achieving that, being the only Brazilian woman to become two-division champion… The only woman, the only Brazilian, will be a huge achievement. It’s a big fight, a fight that will make history, and I will come out victorious one more time.”

“The desire to challenge myself. We got a point in my division… I was chatting to my coaches, Nina (Ansaroff) was there as well, and this idea came up. Din Thomas told me, ‘You have to do something different, you have to make history,’ something like that, and I said he was right. Some time after, Din Thomas said in an interview, ‘Amanda will fight Cris.’ I was like, ‘You know what, man, that conversation happened for a reason.’ It’s happened at the right time because my division is still moving and still needs some fights to really decide the next top contender for me. Cris’ division has nothing happening as well, there’s no one in that division, and the UFC kind of has its hands tied with that division. There are no big fights, too. I think it makes sense for the 135-pound champion to fight the 145-pound champion. There’s a lot of expectations around this fight. There’s no problem — it’s not about seeing who’s more Brazilian or who’s more patriotic, it’s about continuing to make history.”

Jessica Andrade wants to knock out Rose Namajunas to end 2018.

No matter the division Jessica Andrade is a threat to the title. The Andrade that was on display at UFC 228 exhibited a level of aggression that has yet to be seen in the 115-pound division. “Bate Estaca” only needed two minutes to absolutely sleep Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the co-main event of UFC 228.

The MMA universe now wonders if Andrade can do the same to strawweight champion Rose Namajunas.

”I got the knockout and that devastating win,” Andrade said during the post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “Which I’m sure leaves no doubt that I can be next to fight for the belt.”

Andrade now holds a victory over Kowalkiewicz who beat Namajunas via split decision back in 2016. However, “Bate Estaca” doesn’t put too much stock in MMA math.

“Rose is a very versatile athlete,” she continued. “She’s got good striking, she’s evolved a lot since she fought Karolina. But I believe I have great chances of winning and becoming champion, both in the striking and on the ground.”

“I’ve improved a lot. I think after tonight’s knockout, for sure it got me one step closer to being able to fight for this belt and show people that I can be a great striker, a great jiu-jitsu fighter and that I’m going to be a lot of work for these girls in the division.”

Andrade would love nothing more than to end 2018 strawweight champion. Her plan is to fight Namajunas for the title at the big year-end end PPV card that already features a super fight between featherweight champ Cris Cyborg and bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes.

“Who doesn’t want to fight in the last UFC event of the year?” Andrade said (apparently cutting weight during Christmas isn’t a big concern to her). “I asked for this fight for Dec. 29. We’ll see what Dana and the UFC have planned for me. But this fight has to happen. I just want it to happen.”
