Daniel Rodriguez has confirmed his removal from a scheduled return to the Octagon at Noche UFC next month against Santiago Ponzinibbio, after revealing he failed a in-competiton drug test administed by anti-doping agency, USADA, for the banned substance, ostarine.

Rodriguez, a welterweight staple, most recently featured at UFC Nashville back in April, suffering a devastating first round high kick and strikes TKO loss to incoming UFC 292 main card festure, Ian Machado Garry.

Daniel Rodriguez confirms removal from Noche UFC

Seeing his matchup with Ponzinibbio now shelved for next month’s Noche UFC event, Rodriguez confirmed his positive drug test finding in a post on his official social media.

Following a communication from USADA today, I wanted to clarify the current situation to the media, my supporters, and everybody involved in the sport of mixed martial arts,” Daniel Rodriguez posted on his official Instagram account

“Today I was notified that an out-of-competition sample that I provided to USADA was positive for an extremely low level of Ostarine. First and foremost, I want to clarify I did not intentionally use Ostarine, nor have I ever knowingly used any prohibited substance in my career. I rarely take any form of supplements and have always strived to care for my body in the most natural ways.”

“I strongly believe that a supplement contaminant is the reason for my low-level positive, and am actively working with my manager, USADA, and The UFC on reviewing and testing the supplements I took prior to my test,” Daniel Rodriguez explained. “While I am extremely disappointed in this development and am now unable to fight on September 16th, I am looking forward to finding a definitive explanation for my low-level positive test and am ready to fully cooperate with the USADA.”

Noche UFC is currently scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 16., with an undisputed flyweight title rematch between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko slated to take main event honors.

Undefeated welterweight striker, Ian Machado Garry has been showered in praise following his stunning opening round win over Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Fight Night Charlotte last night, with social media users claiming the Dubliner is in pure form, what lightweigh prospect, Paddy Pimblett believes he is.

Garry, 25, is likely set to enter the welterweight top-15 rankings come Tuesday next week, stopping the current placeholder, Rodriguez with a stunning first round high-kick and ground strikes knockout in the opening round of their main card clash last night in North Carolina.

The victory came as Ian Machado Garry, a former Cage Warriors titleholder, fifth on the bounce in the promotion, improving him to 12-0 as a professional to boot off the back of triumphs against Jordan Williams, Darian Weeks, Gabe Green, and Kenan Song to boot.

Earning a Performance of the Night bonus for his stunning efforts to become the first to dispatch Californian kickboxer, Rodriguez with strikes last night, Ian Machado Garry called for a showdown with perennial division contender, Neil Magny following his first round stoppage win.

Receiving a slew of props off the back of his first round win last night, Ian Machado Garry – who had predicted a high kick stoppage win over Rodriguez six weeks out from their showdown, saw his performance described as flawless, while others noted how he is, in fact, what polarizing prospect, Pimblett believes he is.

“Ian Garry is what Paddy Pimblett thinks he is,” DovySimuMMA tweeted

“Wow! Very impressive performance for Garry to take out someone as tough as Rodriguez,” Alan Jouban tweeted

Ian Machado Garry lays out six-fight plan to earn UFC title fight

Following his stunning win, Garry revealed he had spoken with UFC brass, including Dana White, Sean Shelby, and Hunter Campbell backstage – where he informed them of his intentions to run through contenders en route to a title siege.

“I was in a little meeting, should we say, with the big boys,” Ian Garry told Megan Olivi. “With Dana, Hunter, and Sean Shelby. And we just spoke about – I said to them, ‘Hey, if you heard about my six fight plan?’ And they said no. I said, ‘I fight two guys in top 15, two guys in top 10, two guys in top 5.’ And I said, ‘Do you wanna know why?’ And he goes, ‘Why?’ ‘It’s because I never want any question marks on my career. So, I am going to grab that. I am going to earn everything and it my way. He said, ‘I love it.”

Ian Garry earned his twelfth straight win on Saturday at UFC Charlotte, securing a first-round technical knockout against No. 15 ranked welterweight contender Daniel Rodriguez.

It was another spectacular showing from the budding Irish contender as Garry faced his toughest test inside the Octagon. With 2:15 left in the first round, Garry unleashed a head kick that connected, rocking ‘D-Rod’ in the process. With his opponent stumbling backward, Garry pursued throwing a series of strikes that sent his opponent to the canvas. Smelling blood in the water, ‘The Future’ turned up the heat and unloaded on Rodriguez with a hearty helping of ground-and-pound strikes forcing the referee to step in and call for the stoppage.

With the victory, Ian Garry made it 12-in-a-row and five straight inside the Octagon. He will likely have a number next to his name come Monday. Daniel Rodriguez has now lost back-to-back bouts, falling to 7-3 under the UFC banner and 17-4 overall.

Official Results: Ian Garry def. Daniel Rodriguez via TKO (strikes) at 2:57 of Round 1.

Undefeated Irish prospect Ian Garry may be partially responsible for Daniel Rodriguez’s struggle to make weight for their scheduled scrap on Saturday.

The UFC will head to Charlotte, NC for a Fight Night event headlined by a heavyweight clash between top-ten-ranked contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik and streaking Brazilian standout Jailton Almeida. Before stepping inside the Octagon, all 22 fighters stepped on the scale for their respective bouts. When it came time for ‘D-Rod’ to weigh in, the California native came in a half-pound overweight, putting their main card matchup in jeopardy and Ian Garry may have been partially to blame.

In a video shared on social media, ‘The Future’ decided to deliver temptation right to Rodriguez’s door the night before weigh-ins. In the clip, which you can see below, Garry is observed leaving a pizza and some weed for his UFC on ABC 4 opponent.

Daniel Rodriguez Made Weight on His Second Attempt Despite Ian Garry’s Prank Pizza

Ian Garry’s prank may have been a little too effective. Fortunately, Rodriguez was able to make weight on his second attempt, keeping their fight from cancelation. Upon hearing Rodriguez’s initial weight, fans immediately began speculating if Garry’s harmless caper actually sabotaged his own fight.

With ‘D-Rod’ now on weight, he will now look to get back into the win column after seeing his four-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Neil Magny in November. That will be no easy task as he’s matched up with Ian Garry. ‘The Future’ has lived up to his moniker thus far, earning 11 straight wins, four under the UFC banner. Garry has scored decision victories over Darian Weeks and Gabe Green inside the Octagon while adding two highlight-reel-worthy knockouts against Jordan Williams and Gabe Green.

If Ian Garry can make it 12-0 on Saturday night, he will likely take Daniel Rodriguez’s No. 15 spot in the welterweight rankings.

A welterweight clash between Daniel Rodriguez and Gunnar Nelson appears set for UFC 286 in London

Gunnar Nelson has become a staple of UFC London cards as of late. The Icelandic submission specialist competed on UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall and UFC on ESPN+ 5: Till vs. Masvidal, picking up a win over Takeshi Sato and dropping a split decision loss to Leon Edwards respectively.

Daniel Rodriguez has made a name for himself with a fan-friendly style, and a consistently active fight schedule. ‘D-Rod’ signed for the UFC in 2020, and has already competed 9 times, amassing a record of 7-2 inside the promotion.

The news of this fight was shared by Rodriguez on an Instagram story, where he stated the following:

“Bout agreement signed. March 18 vs. Gunnar Nelson. UFC London.”

Daniel Rodriguez vs. Gunnar Nelson will be added to the growing London card that Dana White previously claimed would be the ‘most bad a**’ card the UK had ever seen. However, whilst there are some fun fights on the card, there aren’t any ‘superstar’ matchups just yet.

Right now, the highest profile bout on UFC 286 is the middleweight clash between former title challenger Marvin Vettori and surging contender Roman Dolidze. An entertaining featherweight scrap between two brits also features, as Lerone Murphy takes on Nathaniel Wood.

Former Cage Warriors champions Jai Herbert and Jake Hadley look set to compete in front of their home crowds, taking on ?udovít Klein and Malcolm Gordon respectively. Joanne Wood is back, facing off against Luana Carolina, whilst a top 15 women’s bantamweight bout between Casey O’Neil and Jennifer Maia also features.
