Much has been made about who UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be fighting next.

The two standout candidates are Dominick Reyes and Corey Anderson. Earlier today (Thurs. November 7, 2019), Jones took to Twitter to announce he chooses to fight Reyes next, calling him the more “dangerous” of the pair.

“Just finished a coaches meeting studying Dominick and Cory‘s careers. Established Dominicks definitely the more dangerous fighter. Beating his ass next”

It didn’t take too long for Anderson to respond to Jones’ comments. He Tweeted the following:

Ha. Okay bones. I wouldn’t wanna fight me either. @JonnyBones

Anderson comes off of a big first-round TKO victory over Johnny Walker in the featured UFC 244 preliminary bout over the weekend. As for Reyes, he knocked out former UFC middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman in the first round of their UFC Boston headliner last month.

Both men would certainly present interesting challenges for “Bones,” but it’s sounding like Reyes will get the nod first. Even UFC president Dana White recently noted that Jones vs. Reyes is the fight to make next.

“I mean, the fight that makes sense right now for Jon Jones is Dominick Reyes,” White said. “Just came off an impressive win over Weidman, and a lot of people saw it. Pulled good ratings on TV. It’s the fight to make.”

What do you think about Jones opting to face Reyes next instead of Anderson?

It looks like everyone is in agreement that Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes is the next fight to make in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.

As Jones prepares for the next defense of his 205-pound title, “Bones” took to Twitter to reveal that he has looked at film of both top contenders Reyes and Corey Anderson. He has decided that Reyes is “definitely” the more dangerous fighter, and will be fighting him next.

“Just finished a coaches meeting studying Dominick and Cory‘s careers. Established Dominicks definitely the more dangerous fighter. Beating his ass next”

Jones comes off of a split decision victory over Thiago Santos this past summer to defend his title. It was the first split decision of his career. As for Reyes, he is riding a ton of momentum after knocking out former 185-pound kingpin Chris Weidman, as Weidman attempted to make a run at Jones himself by jumping up to light heavyweight.

Even UFC president Dana White recently noted that Reyes’ knockout of Weidman solidified him as the next logical move for Jones.

“I mean, the fight that makes sense right now for Jon Jones is Dominick Reyes,” White said. “Just came off an impressive win over Weidman, and a lot of people saw it. Pulled good ratings on TV. It’s the fight to make.”

UFC light heavyweight contender Corey Anderson has seemed a bit disgruntled with his current position within the promotion.

Anderson comes off an upset TKO win over promising contender Johnny Walker. After the win, Anderson was quoted as saying that he wants a title shot against Jon Jones next, or he wants to be released.

However, speaking to MMA Fighting recently, Anderson decided to clear those reports up. Anderson said he’s more than willing to wait and fight the winner of a potential fight between Jones and Dominick Reyes.

“I have to clear that up,” Anderson said. “Media’s known for click-baiting and I think I know what reporter said that but he didn’t say the whole interview. The interview in the back they said ‘what do you want next?’ and I said I want a title fight. I want Jon Jones my next fight.

“Then they mentioned Dominick Reyes and I said 100 percent, Dominick Reyes has been doing his work, he’s put in his time. I wanted to fight him but he’s earned this fight, too. I’m in no rush to fight for the title right now. If Jon Jones wants to fight Dominick Reyes in December or January, that’s completely fine. I will take the winner of that.

“Then it went onto ‘but what if they try to take one of these new guys and bump them up in the rankings and put them in front of you — what if after Dominick Reyes, they push you to the back of the line again, what would you do?’. That’s when I said, if they’re going to do that to me, then release me.”

Anderson, 30, is currently on a four-fight win streak. Those wins include three decision victories over the likes of Patrick Cummins, Glover Teixeira, and Ilir Latifi. Following his victory over Latifi, Anderson put Walker away at UFC 244 this past Saturday.

What do you think about Anderson willing to wait and fight the winner of Jones vs. Reyes?

One of the biggest questions surrounding UFC matchmaking at the moment is who is next for light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Jones comes off a split decision win over Thiago Santos this past summer and awaits the next challenger at 205 pounds. There are plenty of candidates to consider, but according to UFC president Dana White, who spoke to TMZ recently, Dominick Reyes is the fight that makes sense for “Bones” at the moment.

“I mean, the fight that makes sense right now for Jon Jones is Dominick Reyes,” White said. “Just came off an impressive win over Weidman, and a lot of people saw it. Pulled good ratings on TV. It’s the fight to make.”

Reyes comes off a big first-round knockout win over ex-middleweight king Chris Weidman. With the victory, Reyes believes he’s the most deserving contender for a shot at Jones’ title out of the 205-pound bunch. Jones has established himself as, arguably, the most dominant UFC champion of all time.

With a long list of impressive challengers who have failed to dethrone Jones over the years, it will be interesting to see how Reyes fares inside the Octagon against the future UFC Hall Of Famer.

What do you make of White confirming Reyes is next for Jones?
