In round two, Ismagulov took the advantage on the feet, but Kutateladze also had success. And in round three, the fight was controversially stopped briefly after Kutateladze apparently kneed Ismagulov in the head while he was down. Catch the decision below.

Joaquin Buckley def. Albert Duraev

Joaquin Buckley earned a dominant TKO victory over Albert Duraev in this middleweight bout. Round one saw Buckley push the pace and rock Duraev several times, but the Russian also had success on the feet.

In round two, Buckley dominated on the feet, landing some heavy shots that rocked Duraev and left him unable to see out of one eye. And after the doctor deemed the swelling too great for the Russian to continue, Buckley was awarded the win. Catch the highlights below.

Kevin Holland def. Tim Means

In the co-main event of the evening, Kevin Holland looked sharp as he earned an impressive submission victory against Tim Means in their welterweight bout. In round one, Means dominated in the clinch and landed a few takedowns, however Holland rocked Means several times, landing some effective combinations.

Then in round two, Holland landed a huge right that wobbled Means, who then attempted a takedown that Holland used to his advantage, locking in a D’arce choke. Catch the highlights below.

Josh Emmett def. Calvin Kattar

In the main event of the evening, Josh Emmett extended his win streak to five with a split decision victory over Calvin Kattar. A cagey first round saw neither fighter take a clear advantage, but Emmett landed a heavy shot late in the round. It remained relatively even on the feet in round two, with both fighters having momentary success.

Round three saw more of the same, with Emmett landing the more powerful strikes. In round four, Kattar landed a series of heavy strikes, including an elbow that wobbled Emmett, before both fighters exploded into urgency, trading heavy strikes late in the round. And the fight remained competitive in the final round, with Kattar landing more significant strikes. Catch the highlights below.

Chris Curtis, Sean Strickland, Alex Pereira

Chris Curtis has backed his training partner Sean Strickland for his upcoming bout against Alex Pereira.

UFC Middleweight Chris Curtis is scheduled to take on Rodolfo Vieira on June 25 at UFC Vegas 57. Curtis will be looking to extend his winning run to three in the UFC after coming out victorious in his first two showings against Phil Hawes, by KO, and over Brendan Allen, by TKO.

He made his first appearance under the banner on Dana White‘s Contender Series in June 2018. ‘The Action Man’ would go on to the PFL for a brief stint that saw him drop three in a row before joining the UFC last November.

Sean Strickland will corner Chris Curtis at UFC Vegas 57

In an exclusive interview with James Lynch for LowKick MMA, Chris Curtis talked about his upcoming fight against Vieira and shared his thoughts on the promotion matching his training partner Sean Strickland up with Alex Pereira.

When asked by the interviewer about who will be in his corner against Vieira, Curtis shared that Strickland will be in attendance just a week before his own outing with Pereira.

“Nate Pettit, Eric Nicksick, and of course, Sean Strickland,” Curtis said. “It’s in Vegas though, he lives in Vegas. He’s not really doing me a huge favour of my shot but he’s also like five minutes from the PI (UFC Performance Institute). Bro, just show up it’s fine.”

Chris Curtis says it’s a risky gamble by the UFC

Talking about the upcoming showdown between Strickland and Pereira, the 34-year-old Ohio native stated that it’s a risky gamble for the UFC. Pereira is the only man to have knocked out Israel Adesanya but that was in another sport. Curtis backed Strickland’s chances of securing a win which would make the potential storyline between Pereira and Adesanya null and void.

“It’s weird. You know what’s happening, the fight they’re trying to make,” he said. “They need Pereira to have a legitimate win, like who has he beaten so far, Bruno Silva, there’s nothing, not Bruno Silva but he’s unranked completely. Then, I don’t know the first guy he fought.

“They’re really trying to get him a meaningful opponent but I think this was probably handled in the weirdest way. I’m guessing they hope that Strickland can’t knock him out because Strickland, you know, not a knockout puncher.

“But people also forget that Strickland’s a jiu-jitsu black belt and ever since the Usman fight, I’m telling you guys this dude has become one of the better wrestlers in the division.

“I think they kinda rolled dice on the wrong stats. We all see what they’re doing I just think it was a bad decision.”

Curtis shared his thoughts on Strickland being the underdog going into the bout.

“He beat Izzy so people are like, ‘oh he beat Izzy’ but once again this isn’t kickboxing. I think people get swept up in the storyline a little bit and it happens, we can see bias or anything else. I think this is a really risky bet on the UFC’s part because if he loses to Sean, what do you do with him?”

Chris Curtis will fight Rodolfo Vieira this June 25 at the UFC Apex, Las Vegas, at UFC on ESPN 38.

Cory Sandhagen

Former interim UFC bantamweight title challenger, Cory Sandhagen is set to return from an almost year away from the sport – with reports detailing how the Colorado native is currently targeted to headline a UFC Fight Night event on September 17. against the surging #9 ranked contender, Song Yadong.

Cory Sandhagen looks set to snap an almost year hiatus from the Octagon

As per an initial report from EuroSport reporter, Marcel Dorff, Cory Sandhagen, who co-headlined UFC 267 last October in Abu Dhabi, UAE – is currently targeted to headline a UFC Fight Night event on September 17. against Song Yadong – who has landed victories in each of his last three Octagon outings.

Featuring on ‘Fight Island’ in October, Sandhagen replaced former opponent and current undisputed champion, Aljamain Sterling against Petr Yan – suffering a unanimous decision loss to the Dudinka native over the course of five rounds.

As for Yadong, the Chinese upstart managed to land the most high-profile victory of his UFC tenure so far back in March at UFC Vegas 50 – stopping common-opponent, Marlon Moraes with a blistering first round knockout.

Prior to his loss against Yan, Sandhagen found himself on the wrong end of a close, back-and-forth split decision defeat against former two-time bantamweight best, T.J. Dillashaw in July.

Seeing his two–fight run of consecutive knockout victories halted, the highly-touted, Cory Sandhagen had stopped the aforenoted, Moraes with a thunderous second round spinning wheel kick in October 2020 on ‘Fight Island’.

Scoring another highlight-reel finish, Sandhagen handed former undisputed lightweight titleholder, Frankie Edgar a 28-second flying knee knockout defeat back in February of last year. Sandhagen also holds a judging win over recently minted ONE Championship bantamweight best, John Lineker.

8-1-1 from 10 professional walks, Yadong added the now-retired, Moraes to a run of victories over both Julio Arce, and Kyler Philips.

The 24-year-old uber-prospect also managed to land himself a hugely-close, decision win over the surging, Marlon Vera at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May 2020.

Peña: “I Don’t Have To Take My Clothes Off To Get People Invested”

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Peña believes that she’s marketed herself in a way that doesn’t require “half-naked” posts on Instagram.

In recent times, a number of prominent names in mixed martial arts have turned to exclusive content pages, whether through modeling aspirations or a simple income boost to go along with their fighting careers.

While women’s strawweight Kay Hansen, who exited the UFC following her latest loss at UFC 273, sells explicit images on the OnlyFans platform, former mixed martial artist-turned-bare-knuckle boxer and professional wrestler Paige VanZant offers similar content on her own exclusive site.

But Peña, who reached the top in the UFC with a championship-winning victory over Amanda Nunes last December, does things differently and, as she recently described it, in a “classy way.”

During an appearance on Barstool Chicago’s RebuildEd podcast, Peña discussed some of her physical insecurities, which she said has meant that she’ll never consider fighting in the same smaller gear as some other fighters.

But the bantamweight queen believes that’s benefitted her in the long run by forcing her to market herself in a manner that’s meant she doesn’t need to post explicit images to get people invested in her career.

While she made sure to clarify that she wasn’t looking down on those who do choose to enhance their social media presence in that way, Peña admitted that she wouldn’t want to set that example for her daughter.

“I think that it’s (physical insecurities) helped me in a way, because it’s easy to take your clothes off and sell something on Instagram, and be this sexy model, but I’m trying to do it in the classy way, where it’s like, I don’t have to take my clothes off to get people invested in what I do,” said Peña. “So, it’s almost like, a thing that’s benefited me in another way as well, because I’ve got a daughter and I want to set a great example for her. I don’t want her to, years from now, be on Instagram and see her mom being half-naked.

“I’m not trying to knock anybody for doing that, you know, get your paper boo-boo, do what you gotta do. But for me, it’s put me in a situation where I have to market myself in a different way that’s not about taking my clothes off and trying to be a ‘sex sells’ kind of person,” concluded Peña.

“The Venezuelan Vixen” will be looking to put a different form of ‘class’ on show at UFC 277 when she returns to the Octagon for the first defense of her title, which will come against a Nunes who is in search of redemption.

Another victory over the “Lioness” will certainly increase her notoriety even further, potentially opening more doors for when her time in the Octagon comes to an end. Peña has somewhat left the door open to a professional wrestling transition in the past, so perhaps she’ll eventually join VanZant in-between the ropes.

Although judging by her latest remarks, we can’t see her agreeing to a modern edition of the defunct ‘bra and panties match’…

What do you make of Julianna Peña’s comments?

The UFC makes the trip to Austin this weekend with one of the most stacked Fight Night cards of the year.

Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett promises to be stacks of featherweight fun, whilst a co-main event between Joe Lauzon and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is one for the long-time fans of the sport.

Mix in bouts featuring the likes of Kevin Holland, Adrian Yanez, and Joaquin Buckley, and this should truly be a Fight Night to remember. Join LowKick MMA as we break down our top 3 bets for this weekend’s event.

Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett

In the main event of the night, Calvin Kattar takes on Josh Emmett in a featherweight bout that will see the victor cement themself in the top five of the division.

Emmett is a solid fighter with two very strong weapons in his arsenal. Those being solid wrestling and one-punch KO power. However, unfortunately for him, Calvin Kattar is not only excellent at defending takedowns but is also incredibly durable.

Emmett may well have some success early on, but watch for Kattar to begin asserting dominance as the fight goes on. His striking is clinical and brutally effective, to the point where it would not be a surprise to see him finish the fight in the later rounds.

Kattar’s ML is currently at 1.44 on Betway, which is priced relatively accurately. If you feel confident about Kattar’s chances of finishing the fight, then his KO line is at a rather appealing 3.10. However, we will parlay his ML with one of the bigger favorites on the card, such as Jasmine Jasdavicious or Ricardo Ramos.

Pick: Calvin Kattar ML parlayed with Jasdavicious ML.

Joe Lauzon vs. Donald Cerrone

A bout between two fan-favorite MMA veterans takes the co-main event slot of UFC Vegas 57. After the bout was initially canceled due to ‘Cowboy’ suffering food poisoning, fans will finally be able to see Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon throw down this weekend.

There are a number of intriguing caveats to this fight that may sway bettors to one side or the other. We will be backing the underdog, Joe Lauzon. Cerrone has remained the more active fighter, but he is winless in his past six octagon appearances. In four of these performances, ‘Cowboy’ was finished inside the distance.

Lauzon admittedly has not competed since 2019 but is coming off a win, having knocked out Jonathan Pearce in the first round. We will be banking on Lauzon’s finishing ability, as well as the diminishing durability of Cerrone.

Lauzon’s ML can be found at 2.40 on Betway, which is the line we will take. However, it may also be worth taking a stab at Lauzon to win in Rnd 1, priced at 6.50.

Pick: Joe Lauzon ML.

Adrian Yanez vs. Tony Kelly & Cody Stamann vs. Eddie Wineland

For our final bet, we will put together a parlay from two UFC bantamweight prelims bouts.

Adrian Yanez is one of the division’s biggest prospects, and should be facing a higher level of opposition at this point. Not to say that Tony Kelly isn’t a talented fighter, he clearly is, as shown in his recent win over Randy Costa. However, Yanez has that something special, and this will be yet another opportunity to display exactly why so many MMA hardcore fans are hyped about him.

Cody Stamann is a solid fighter in the prime of his career, having already defeated the likes of Brian Kelleher, and Alejandro Perez. He takes on a veteran of the game in the form of Eddie Wineland. With his debut taking place in 2003, Wineland is one of the most experienced fighters on the entire UFC roster. However, bantamweight is not a division that is kind to fighters in the twilight of their careers. Wineland is coming off back-to-back KO losses and has not won in the UFC since 2019.

Parlaying Yanez and Stamann’s Money Lines gives us 1.56 odds on Betway.

Pick: Adrian Yanez & Cody Stamann ML.

Alternate UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Emmett Bets:

Joaquin Buckley ML – 3.00.

Adrian Yanez by KO/TKO – 2.62.

Gregory Rodrigues by Submission – 5.00.
