Gross Video of the Day: NASTIEST. ELBOW. EVER.

Well, there’s one way to deal with cauliflower ear. Today’s video comes to us courtesy of Fight Lab 20: MMA Cage Fights @ Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte, North Carolina. Making his professional debut, Kenneth Crowder took on 1-1 Shane Tyner in a bantamweight contest that provided more than its fair share of highlights, but we’re going to focus on one in particular. After completing a takedown midway through the second round, Crowder unleashed an elbow that shall forever be known as “The Nastiest Elbow Ever Thrown By Anyone Ever.” Trust us on this one.

With the surgical accuracy of a laser in a James Bond movie, Crowder’s elbow sent a piece of Tyner’s ear flying across the ring like an ejected mouthpiece. And as it turns out, this would only be the beginning of this poor bastard’s suffering. Yes, despite having half of his ear sliced clean off, Tyner would go on to lose the fight BY UNANIMOUS DECISION. No word yet on whether or not the referee for this match was John Kramer, but let’s just assume it was for the time being. We have a feeling the money Tyner walked away with for his fearless efforts will not be enough to cover the hospital bill that inevitably followed, so everyone raise a glass and order a bucket of baby clams for lunch in this man’s honor. It’s the least we can do.

Word has it that after the fight, one of Tyner’s cornerman attempted to communicate with him through the missing piece of ear to mixed results.

Video Roundup: Jon Jones Gets Mauled, Behind-the-Scenes of the Rousey/Tate Promo, & More

We’re not exactly sure where the correlation between mixed martial arts fighters and police dog demonstrations started, but man if it isn’t glorious every time. Released by the Network of Champions, this video is the first in a series that features current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones going through the Birmingham Sheriff Department’s training routine. Jones was also allowed to partake in some EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operation Control) training, some simulated gun play, and even got to hip toss a fool who decided to get fresh with him. Don’t worry officer, it could have been worse.

As you may or may not know, Jones received a degree in criminal justice from Iowa Central Community College back in 2005, so perhaps he was a little more prepared to take a mauling than the average UFC fighter. Bones attests that the dog was racist, and history tells us that he was probably right.

Join us after the jump for a behind the scenes look at the awesome Rousey/Tate promo Strikeforce managed to muster up and more.

Behind the Scenes with Meisha Tate and Ronda Rousey

Showtime Sports recently released a behind the scenes look at that, let’s call it “intriguing” promo they managed to put together for the upcoming women’s Bantamweight title fight between challenger Ronda Rousey and champion Meisha Tate. In it, both women talk about their affection for getting “all girly,” a sentiment that Rousey can’t even say without coming across like a foul, yet beautiful mouthed trucker. God, the sexual tension between these two is killing me.

Pat Barry Gets Blazered

Video number seven in UFC Heavyweight Pat Barry‘s “I Hate” series takes us to the dreaded eye doctor, where he appears to be getting a retinal scan of some sort. As a guy with roughly 20/60 vision, I have received these kinds of “exams” before, and let me tell you, the pain in Barry’s face doesn’t even BEGIN to describe how mind-numbingly awful this experience is. More often than not, your eyes are actually dilated before they shine the light of the Covenant into them. I’m pretty sure a tattoo on your cornea would hurt less.

And finally, check out this look back at “Judo” Gene Lebell’s 1963 match against Milo Savage, which was widely considered to be the first mixed rules combat match ever held, compliments of TheFightNerd.com.

11 GIFs of Diego Sanchez Being Diego Sanchez

(Remind me to ask Diego for a small loan during fight week.)

Love him or hate him, Diego Sanchez is an exciting fighter who brings it each and every time he’s in the cage. What is most polarizing about him is that most fans think that he’s a really strange dude. From his stevia experimentation,”Yes!” mantra, cartwheels and his denial that he may have lost a fight to his recent call-out of his teammate Carlos Condit, it’s an understatement to say that the TUF winner marches to the beat of a different drummer, but that’s part of his appeal.

The fighter formerly known as “The Nightmare” (sorry, I’m not calling him “The Dream”) takes on Jake Ellenberger tonight at UFC on FUEL 1, so we figured we’d take a look back at some of his GIF-worthy moments the past few years.

Check out the other 10 after the jump.

A Note to All Comedians: If You Let Jon Jones Choke You, Don’t Bother Tapping [VIDEO]

Hey, at least he checked on him afterward.

Today’s video comes to us courtesy, as always, of The Opie & Anthony Show, the hosts of which apparently have some sort of sick fetish involving stand up comics being mangled and choked within an inch of their lives. Can’t they just watch good old fashioned porn like the rest of us?

Anyway, Jon Jones was the most recent guest on the show’s regular lineup of MMA stars, and the poor comedian this time around was Robert Kelly. Perhaps Mr. Kelly made a pass at Jones’ wife beforehand, or perhaps Bones was just having a bad morning, because in either case, it turned out Kelly’s frantic tapping had little bearing on when the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion decided to release the choke, all to the delight of Weenie and the Butt, or whoever the fuck these annoying DJ’s claim to be. We were going to rant about this being a dick move by Jones, but Babalu informed us that the champ was just teaching Kelly some respect, and who are we to disagree?

Jones is set to take on Rashad Evans at UFC 145 in Atlanta on April 21st. As long as he doesn’t get busted for harboring any more criminals, that is.

MMA Video/Gif Tribute: The Flying Mouthpiece

Over the past few weeks, we’ve taken a look at several unique knockouts in the world of mixed martial arts, and as Nick Diaz will tell you, now that we’re hooked, there’s no turning back. So today, we pay tribute to yet another aspect of the fight game, specifically, one that only happens on the rarest of occasions, like Halley’s Comet or Bob Sapp showing up to win. We’re talking, of course, about the moment in combat sports when a fighter delivers a shot with such force that it is able to dislodge the airtight mouthpiece from the opponent’s…mouth. It’s embarrassing, often causes a stop in the action, and doesn’t always end in a knockout, but it’s also hilarious, and that’s what we’re all about anyway. So with that in mind, here are some of the finest instances of the flying mouthpiece in MMA.

Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz – UFC 106

Go Figure, Nick Diaz Will Not Be Fired for His Botched UFC 143 Drug Test

(I may not know how to buy a house, but if you give me fifteen minutes I WILL make a four percolator bong out of this.)

Man, the UFC marketing department intern in charge of Lorenzo Fertitta’s Twitter account must be working overtime these past few days. Aside from announcing the Mir/Velasquez, Griffin/Ortiz, and Overeem/JDS fights last night, “Lorenzo” recently held a Twitter Q & A session to set the record straight on this whole Nick Diaz/Puff the Magic Dragon thing. And even if Diaz is planning to retire, his contract with the UFC will remain. You know, just in case he gets the sudden desire to fight B.J. Penn, Karo Parisyan, or Joe Riggs again in some small promotion somewhere.

When asked about Diaz’s Zuffa future, Fertitta was quick to respond, “[I] really like the kid [he] just needs to get it together. I’m a sap for real fighters.” We know, Lorenzo.

We don’t want you to argue about whether or not marijuana should be considered a banned substance, or illegal for that matter, because we already have. Needless to say, if anyone out there actually thinks weed enhances anything but zombie mode on Call of Duty and the enjoyment of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, then they are clearly unfamiliar with the term “enhance.” What we are interested in is what kind of punishment you think Diaz should receive for violating a rule, as silly as it may be. Three months? Six months? A year? Well, barring a successful appeal, which, come on, it’s looking like it will be a year or more before we see Diaz in the octagon, if at all.

Perhaps even more hilarious than the predicament Diaz has put himself in was how the MMA community responded to his failed drug test. Check out some of the best tweets, compiled by MMAFighting.com, after the jump.

@TimKennedyMMA: Nick Diaz was the aggressor of the fight while he was high as a kite is a testament to how good he really is and how much pot he can smoke.

@malkikawa: I was positive after 143…. Very positive, condit won… Lol

@FilthyTomLawlor: Telling me that the top fighters in MMA smoke pot regularly is like saying that @ryanbader and @Kingsbu suck at beerpong: FACT

@Schindiggity: Nick Diaz tests+ for weed, so Fkn what!! He should be praised for doing so well hi! Plus he has a medical marijuana license! Wtf

@ForrestGriffin: I don’t do drugs…. I suck naturally.

@MieshaTate: “@Michael_Pugh: @mayhemmiller and @MieshaTate What are your thoughts about Diaz’s test failure?” #stupid

@mayhemmiller: They shouldn’t test for it but they do.

@DUANEBANGCOM: “@spilledbagofice: Nick should just say there was some THC in a supplement he got from GNC. #blameGNC” everyone else does. Haha

@lastcall155: @KCBanditMMA The @DiazBrothers209 R 2 of the realist doods I’ve met in this sport! Ive got nuthin but good things 2 say about em. #Realtalk

@joerogan: To make you feel slightly better after the shit news of Nick Diaz testing positive, I offer the black keys.
