Former NFL running back Frank Gore made his professional boxing debut over the weekend and walked away with the KO victory.

The 39-year old Gore celebrated his birthday by landing a right hand in the fourth round that sent opponent Yaya Olorunsola falling face first to the canvas at Gamebred Boxing 1 in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The former NFL standout previously appeared in an exhibition boxing match against former NBA All-Star Deron Williams, losing a four-round split-decision. That bout was contested as part of the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley 2 fight card last December.

Gore’s opponent Yaya Olorunsola was also making his pro boxing debut in this matchup. The 28-year old Olorunsola previously competed in a bare knuckle MMA bout at Gamebred Fighting Championship 1 in June 2021, losing the fight by first-round knockout.

Frank Gore played sixteen seasons in the NFL for five different teams. Best-known for his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Gore was selected for the NFL’s Pro Bowl five times and retired with the third-most rushing yards in NFL history.

What’s your reaction to Frank Gore picking up his first win as a professional boxer?

Jorge Masvidal is excited to get his new bare-knuckle MMA organization underway.

The BMF title holder announced last month that he would be starting his own bare-knuckle MMA promotion, Gamebred Fighting Championship. While we’ve seen public interest in bare-knuckle fighting grow in the past few years with promotions like BKFC, we haven’t seen any bare-knuckle MMA organizations gain traction. Masvidal is hoping that having a promotion with his name attached to it will help the sport rise to prominence.

After the headlining bout for the inaugural event was announced earlier this week, Masvidal took to his Instagram account to share the good news with his fans.

“Breaking News Gamebred Fighting Championship 1 will be on Friday, June 18th in Biloxi, Mississippi,” Masvidal wrote. “Our first ever Professional Bare Knuckle MMA event will be headlined by Jason ‘The Kid’ Knight vs ‘Felony’ Charles Bennett. Watch it live and exclusively on the BKTV App!”

Jason Knight had a 9-fight run with the UFC and Charles Bennett is a former PRIDE star. Masvidal is hoping that having recognizable names at the top of the card will draw in more viewers. While this is Masvidal’s first time officially promoting a show, he has 20 years in the fight business and was a protégé of Kimbo Slice when he was running his underground fight ring.

What’s next for Masvidal inside the cage is yet to be seen. He is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Kamaru Usman in the main event of last month’s UFC 261. While his main focus right now is obviously making sure the June 18 event goes off without a hitch, it will be interesting to see if he is able to rebound off the high profile defeat.

Gamebred Fighting Championships, a bareknuckle mixed martial arts promotion headed up by two-time UFC welterweight champion and BMF championship holder, Jorge Masvidal has booked it’s main event for its inaugural showcase.

On June 18. in Biloxi, Mississippi, UFC featherweight alum, Jason ‘The Kid’ Knight will headline the event opposite the storied veteran, Charles ‘Felony’ Bennett in a featherweight main event.

Both Knight and Bennett have featured under the banner of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, led by David Feldman, and the event will air exclusively on BKTVAPP.com

Prior to his UFC 261 headliner against reigning welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman back in April in Jacksonville, Florida, Masvidal confirmed plans to launch his own bareknuckle mixed martial arts promotion, and the organization will have its premier event on June 18.

A two-fight alum of BKFC in his opening foray into bareknuckle combat sports, Knight clashes in two high-profile pairings against fellow UFC featherweight alum, Artem Lobov. Landing a 1-1 record against the Straight Blast Gym mainstay, Knight suffered a unanimous decision in the opening meeting of the two back in April of 2019 — before scoring a TKO win in the rematch in November of that year.

In the time since, the 28-year-old Mississippi native, commonly known as ‘Hick Diaz‘ has competed once in mixed martial arts competition, in the form of an appearance at iKON Fighting Federation 5 in March where he scored a rear-naked choke win over Cliff Wright.

Prior to his four-fight losing skid under the UFC’s banner, Knight had bested Jim Alers, Dan Hooker, Alex Caceres, and Chas Skelly during his promotional tenure.

Himself competing on three separate occasions under the BKFC banner, Bennett didn’t perform as well as Knight, dropping each of his trio of outings. A pair of hand injuries hampered his results against both Michael McDonald and Johnny Bedford, before he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Tyler Goodjohn in December last.
