Fresh off his shocking second-round knockout of Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292, Sean O’Malley has his sights set on another world champion.

On Saturday night, O’Malley stunned fans and oddsmakers around the world when he delivered a perfectly-timed counter right that sent the ‘Funk Master’ crashing to the canvas inside Boston’s iconic TD Garden. As the new king of the bantamweight division, O’Malley has a heap of options available for his first title defense, but ‘Sugar’ seems to have already gravitated toward a rematch with the only man to defeat him inside the Octagon, Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.

“I thought I’d shoot a promo, but we’ll see,” O’Malley said at the UFC 292 post-fight press conference. “Just the way [Vera] acts, he’s so annoying. He’s not funny, he tries to be. He’s so ugly. He dresses like an idiot. It’s like, ‘God, do I really have to give this guy an opportunity?’ I’ll probably just go out there and whoop his ass, make a lot of money, so I could. So that could be it.”

Sean O’Malley also hopes to one day have the opportunity to step inside the squared circle with one of the best lightweight boxers in the history of the sport.

“I also wouldn’t mind knocking out Gervonta Davis, and I know people are going to go, ‘Ooh, you’re a wannabe Conor.’ I’m telling you, that fight is going to happen” (h/t MMA Fighting).

Sean O’Malley Believes the UFC Could Make His Dream Fight with ‘Tank’ Davis Happen

Though there is a lot of work to do before a crossover fight of that magnitude can happen, the UFC has shown a willingness to put its top stars against some of the world’s best boxers.

In 2017, Irish megastar Conor McGregor stepped inside the ring with legendary pugilist Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and most recently, the promotion was in talks with Tyson Fury before ‘The Gypsy King’ ultimately signed on for a clash with former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

“I feel like it could happen sooner than later,” O’Malley said. “But I also know, OK, UFC is down to get behind stuff like that if it’s big enough. With that performance, we’re getting close, but maybe I have to go out there, win a couple more fights, win another belt, I don’t know if he’s even considered a big enough star for the UFC to let that happen. It’ll happen.

“I said [winning the UFC title] was going to happen years ago, and I got so much sh*t saying I was going to be the champ, I’m going to be the next big star, I’m going to be this, I’m going to be that. I got so much hate and sh*t for it, but look at me now.”

‘Tank’ Davis currently carries an undefeated record of 29-0 with 27 of his victories coming by way of knockout. Most recently, Davis scored a seventh-round knockout against Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in April.

“I don’t really follow boxing, but I’ve heard of Gervonta Davis,” O’Malley said. “I think he’s undefeated. I want to have crazy, massive fights. That sh*t gets me excited. I love that stuff. There’s no stars in the bantamweight division. Gervonta, you can consider him almost a star, and that’s what gets me excited. Me vs. Gervonta would be f*cking massive.”

Boxing star, Gervonta Davis claims he would stop Terence Crawford inside six round if the pair fought at the welterweight limit.

While boxing can be an extremely frustrating sport at times, it has produced some incredible moments over the past few months. The most meaningful of which took place this past weekend, when Crawford put his 147lb WBO title up against Errol Spence’s WBA, WBC and IBF titles in a undisputed clash for the ages.

Crawford, who was previously undisputed a super-lightweight, dominated the formerly unbeaten and pound-for-pound rated Spence. Dropping ‘The Truth’ three times, Crawford completely shut down Spence’s game landing accurate and spiteful shots before ultimately stopping his brave counterpart in the ninth round.

With the win, Crawford has gained the elite name that his undefeated record was needing and with such a brilliant performance, has proved himself as the man to beat.

Gervonta Davis convinced he would beat Terence Crawford

Another elite American talent, Davis, also earned the biggest win of his career when stopping Ryan Garcia in March. The 28-year-old seems to be beginning to hit the heights which many predicted for him, and he is absolutely brimming with confidence.

In fact, Davis is so confident that he evemn backs himself to not only beat, but stop the much bigger and moere experienced Crawford.

Talking on a Twitter space, when asked what a matchup between he and Crawford would looking like at welterweight, he did not hold back.

“147?”, Davis asked. “If I tap that chin, you know he going to sleep. He ain’t go not chance.

“I got round six.”

It is highly unlikely that this matchup will be made soon, if ever. Davis is still developing and it’s doubtful that his management/promotional teams would let him fight Crawford who would have a big size advantage.

How would a matchup between Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford go?

Gervonta Davis avoids jail time hit and run 2020 sentenced to house detention boxing

Gervonta Davis won’t see jail time in relation to a 2020 hit-and-run incident which saw four people unfortunately walk away injured, Baltimore Banner has accumulated that Instead, he’ll serve two hundred hours community service, in addition to ninety days of home detention and three years probation for the incident.

Davis, who is 28-years-of-age had previously seen a plea deal which involved two months home detention, rejected by the court. That left the possibility of jail time looming during the recent sentencing. As opposed to jail time, Baltimore Judge Althea Handy has authorised that in addition to the 90 days and community service, he completes programmes on the impact of drunk driving. Where he will also serve the sentence at the home of his trainer, Calvin Ford who has since helped elevate the level that Gervonta is at. (H/T The Guardian)

The sentence means that Gervonta Davis, coming off of a career-defining knockout win over Ryan Garcia, probably won’t see any major disruption or distraction to his career, but as far as his next fight, it’ll all be up in the air considering what boxing typically entails negotiation-wise. But in terms of his own preparation, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anybody if we saw tank ready to fight again before the year closes out.

This case is not Davis’ only run in Davis has had with the law. He was charged with misdemeanour battery after a 911 call details a woman telling police that Davis had attacked her. She has since retracted those claims, but the case is still open and pending, with Davis set to be back in court on the 26th of May this year.

Gervonta Davis showed dominance beating Ryan Garcia earlier this month

Despite multiple legal cases and accusations this past year, Gervonta Davis has also made it into the ring on two occasions showing his level both times.

In January, days after being accused of domestic violence, Davis dispatched of Hector Garcia by TKO to defend his WBA (Regular) lightweight title.

Additionally, Last month Tank defeated Ryan Garcia, by 7th round KO, in what will go down as the most notorious fight of his career to date showing what boxing could be if the best fought the best or the best prospects fought one another.
