Surging UFC bantamweight contender, Sean O’Malley has welcomed the possibility of fighting WBA lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis off the back of the Baltimore native’s seventh round KO over Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, Nevada last night – claiming he would “piece” up the undefeated puncher.

Headlining a PBC event at the T-Mobile Arena in ‘Sin City’ last night, Davis recorded career victory number 29, handing Los Angeles native, Garcia an eventual KO loss after landing a brutal body shot knockout in the seventh round. 

Countering an aggressive Garcia in the second round of their highly-anticipated headlining clash, Davis dropped the former interim WBC lightweight champion with a counter left hook, sending him to the canvas. 

And in the seventh round, having laid into the body of Garcia throughout the bout, Davis landed a picture-perfect straight shot to the body of the former, sending him backwards and eventually to a knee – missing the 10 count as Davis improved his undefeated professional record to 29-0.

Receiving plaudits aplenty following his knockout victory over the 24-year-old Garcia, Davis was once more the topic of conversation for Montana native, Sean O’Malley – who remains confident he outstrikes the knockout puncher.

“Walk out was hard,” Sean O’Malley tweeted. “Still feel like I piece him (Gervonta Davis) low key.” 

The current #2 ranked bantamweight contender, O’Malley – who boasts a 16-1(1) professional mixed martial arts record to boot, most recently featured in the co-main event of UFC 280 back in October of last year, securing a close, decision win over former undisputed champion, Petr Yan in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

A product of Dana White’s Contender Series – O’Malley claims he has been guaranteed a shot at bantamweight gold next, as he lays in anticipation of next month’s bantamweight title fight between champion, Aljamain Sterling, and former two-weight champion, Henry Cejudo at UFC 288.

Two of boxing’s brightest stars, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, collided under the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip on Saturday night. With no world titles on the line, the two undefeated pugilists went toe-to-toe with nothing more than a whole lot of pride on the line after years of trash-talk between the two.

In the early going, Ryan Garcia was the much more active fighter as Davis continued his trend of starting off slow inside the squared circle. Action significantly picked up in the second with Garcia beginning to headhunt. Garcia ultimately paid for his overly aggressive approach as Davis landed a perfectly-placed left that dropped ‘The Flash’ with 45 seconds left in the round. Garcia answered the referee’s eight-count and the bout continued.

Things remained fairly competitive through the next few rounds with Davis likely in the lead thanks to his effective counter-striking. Fast forwarding to the seventh round, ‘Tank’ delivered a vicious body shot at the halfway point. Garcia appeared to absorb it, but seconds later, he took a knee and was unable to answer the ten-count, forcing the referee to call for the stoppage.

In terms of catchweight contests – this weekend’s heralded clash of undefeated phenoms, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia has earned massive attention as the former WBA and WBC lightweight titleholders finally share the squared circle in a highly-awaited showdown of North American punching talents.

28-0 boasting a whopping 26 professional knockout victories, Baltimore, Maryland native, Davis – a WBA (regular) lightweight champion, puts his undefeated record on the line in a clash with his fellow unbeaten, 23-0 former interim WBC lightweight gold holder, Garcia, over the course of 12 rounds. 

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the much-anticipated southpaw versus orthodox pairing of Davis, and Garcia – and despite the bout taking place in the fight captial of the world, ‘Sin City’ – markets have largely found themselves unable to separate the striking duo.

A rattling puncher on the feet, Davis, who most recently scored an eighth round stoppage of Hector Garcia in January of this year, is currently sat as a -250 betting favorite with BetWay to defeat Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday.

Sidelined since he stopped Javier Fortuna with a sixth round KO back in July of last year – sans warm-up fights for his catchweight clash with blistering puncher, Davis, Los Angeles youngster, Garcia has been placed as a short +200 underdog to defeat the Baltimore native over at BetWay currently. 

A seven-year professional, Garcia, 24, rose to prominence back in February 2020, stopping Francisco Fonseca with a thunderous first round KO to move to 20-0 as a professional in Anaheim, California.

Minting himself as the interim WBC lightweight crown holder in February of the following year in ‘The Lone Star State’, Garcia ripped to the body of Luke Campbell with a vicious shot, sending the English puncher to the canvas – as well as retirement ultimately in Dallas.

As for Davis, the long-time Floyd Mayweather-linked striker first landed WBA gold at the super featherweight limit with a win over Jason Cuellar back in 2018 – having also landed a victory over the above-mentioned, Fonseca en route to his first world championship. 

Minting himself as one of the most feared punchers in professional boxing today, Davis, 28 – aptly nicknamed ‘Tank’ – has landed massive triumphs over the likes of Yuriorkos Gamboa, Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios, and Rolly Romero during his run as WBA super lightweight and lightweight kingpin. 

Boasting a shocking 93% knockout rate over the course of his perfect 28-fight professional career, BetWay are currently offering Davis as a -137 betting favorite to hand Garcia his first professional defeat by way of TKO, KO or himself emerge victorious via disqualification. 

In contrast, for Garcia, BetWay are currently offering the Californian as a +300 betting underdog to hand Davis his first professional loss via KO, TKO, or himself land a victory over the Maryland striker via disqualification.

Undefeated boxing standout Ryan Garcia had nothing, but praise for reigning UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira.

Pereira shocked the world at UFC 281 in November, scoring a fifth-round knockout of Israel Adesanya to capture the 185-pound crown in just his fourth fight with the promotion. Holding three wins over ‘The Last Stylebender’ going back to their GLORY Kickboxing days, Adesanya will get one more opportunity to earn an ever-elusive win over the heavy-hitting Brazilian world champion at UFC 287 on April 8.

Appearing on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Ryan Garcia heaped praise on Alex Pereira and shared his thoughts on the UFC champion’s skills, even noting some similarities between the two.

“That’s (Pereira vs. Adesanya) gonna be huge,” Garcia said. “You know what’s crazy though? I’ve never seen somebody throw a hook like me, but Pereira does throw a hook like me. He throws it where you don’t really use your legs too much. You just, ‘Whack!’ That guy, he’s scary. I don’t even think I would even wanna be near this man. He’s just a destroyer… He fights like a terminator. It’s weird, bro. That dude, he’s something else,” Garcia added (h/t MMA News).

While Alex Pereria will be looking to replicate the results of his UFC 281 showdown with Israel Adesanya, Ryan Garcia hopes to hand knockout artist Gervonta Davis the first loss of his professional boxing career. Garcia, 23-0, last stepped inside the squared Circle in July, delivering a sixth-round knockout against Javier Fortuna. He’ll look to make it 24-straight, but that will be no easy task when he meets Davis who walks into the bout with an undefeated record of 28-0, and 26 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Davis has only had one fight go the distance in the last eight years.
