Gina Carano claims to have never felt more liberated since being canceled in the world of Hollywood.

Carano stirred up quite a bit of controversy after opening up more about her political ideals, as well as expressing concern with the COVID-19 vaccine.

After some controversial comments that connected the holocaust to political views, Carano was essentially “canceled” when she was let go from her job on Disney’s “The Mandalorian” Star Wars project, in which she was a prominent character.

Since, Carano has signed with The Daily Wire, a conservative-based news publication, and their new production studios, starring in several of their films. Carano recently spoke to The New York Post to reflect on her current situation in the world of Hollywood.

In regards to being cancelled, Carano said it would have happened eventually, if not 10 times over since it actually happened with Disney. Now, she’s never felt more liberated.

“I would have been canceled anyways, 10 times from when I was canceled, so I’m actually happy it happened because my heart is free,” Carano said. “I’m not hiding. I’m honest, I’m out here. And I’m a very flawed human being. I don’t have everything figured out. But I know one thing is I’m attracting people that I absolutely like— I’m finding a tribe.”

Prior to joining the world of acting, Carano made a name for herself as a pioneer of women’s mixed martial arts (MMA). In fact, Carano made headlines earlier this week when another legend of women’s mixed martial arts, Ronda Rousey, stated that a fight against Carano is the only thing that could bring her back to the sport.

Carano was one of the first big female stars in MMA, starting off her career undefeated with a record of 7-0. However, she suffered the first loss of her career against Cris Cyborg in 2009, being finished in the first round via TKO. Carano hasn’t fought since and has remained focused on her acting career.

Cerrano’s latest project, a modern Western film titled Terror on the Prairie, premiered earlier this week. UFC legend Donald Cerrone is also on the cast.

What do you make of Gina Carano’s “liberation?”

Sonnen Theorizes Why Rousey Expressed Interest In Carano Fight

Chael Sonnen believes there’s more to Ronda Rousey’s recent comments about Gina Carano than she’s letting on. Recently, “The Rowdy One” suggested that she’d only ever return to mixed martial arts (MMA) competition for one opponent. That opponent being Carano, a fellow pioneer in women’s MMA.

However, taking to his podcast recently, Sonnen speculated that Rousey’s comments might be laying the groundwork for an encounter with Carano inside the professional wrestling ring.

“What’s Ronda really up to? Did she just make a comment? Was she just speaking from the heart and that’s the one person that would bring her back. I wouldn’t begrudge her if it did. But a great worker like Ronda, I think that she’s after something, possibly it’s a match with Gina Carano.

“Like, if anybody could make that it would be Vince McMahon. I don’t know that that would go anywhere. And I actually disagree with the booking. If you’re gonna bring Gina in opposite Ronda, you bring Gina in [as] muscle to protect Ronda.”

Currently, Rousey reigns as the WWE SmackDown Live Women’s Champion. Now full-time with WWE, and Carano working in the acting world, a meeting between the pair in WWE seems far more likely than in MMA.

Rousey hasn’t fought since her 2016 defeat to Amanda Nunes. She exited MMA on a two-fight losing streak – the only two defeats of her career. As for Carano, she also exited the sport after suffering the first loss of her MMA career.

Carano was finished by Cris Cyborg in the first round of their 2009 meeting. Carano has not fought since.

Ronda Rousey

Former undisputed UFC and Strikeforce bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey has claimed that a potential future showdown with long-time rumored opponent, Gina Carano would likely draw her from her 2016 mixed martial arts retirement.

Ronda Rousey, who has since turned her hand to professional wrestling with the Vince McMahon-led, WWE – ended her professional mixed martial arts career back in 2016 following a UFC 207 knockout loss to former two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes.

Ending her professional run boasting a 12-2 record, Rousey, one of the most recognisable figures in the sport’s mainstream and a true pioneer amongst her weight class and peers, suffered consecutive losses to end her career following a span of 12 consecutive victories.

Entering the UFC back in February 2013 after her promotion to undisputed bantamweight champion following Strikeforce spoils, Ronda Rousey would defeat Liz Carmouche in her Octagon debut – before going on to secure five consecutive, successful defenses of the bantamweight throne to boot.

In the time since her pair of brutal knockout losses to former division champions, Holly Holm, and Amanda Nunes, Rousey has been linked with a rematch against the former, as well as a trilogy matchup with Miesha Tate – a long-rumored bout with the decorated, Cris Cyborg, and a pairing opposite undisputed bantamweight best, Julianna Pena.

Ronda Rousey heaps praise on fellow sport pioneer, Gina Carano

However, floating a potential return to professional mixed martial arts in the future, the 35-year-old, Rousey named fellow Strikeforce alum and pioneer, Carano as a opponent who could coax her from her retirement.

“I mean, I’ve said it a million times,” Ronda Rousey said on The Kurt Angle Podcast. “It’s not like it’s something new, but, for Gina, man. Gina Carano. She’s the reason why I got into fighting, she’s the reason why i knew it was a possibility. I will always be forever grateful… and if she ever was like, ‘Ronda, I wanna fight you tomorrow at 205lbs,’ like, whatever the hell she’d want – I’m not saying she’s 205lbs – if she wanted to come into my backyard and do the ‘Rocky’ thing or, you know ding, ding and we just do it in the backyard, I don’t care.”

“I will fight Gina wherever she wants and if she doesn’t want to forever, leave (that there),” Ronda Rousey explained. “It’s a respect thing, not like a, ‘F*ck you, I’m coming to get you.’ It’s just like, ‘Hey, if you ever wanna pull that card out, it’s there.’ I love her. Thank you, Gina, for everything you’ve done.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Over the course of her career, Rousey has defeated the likes of Julia Budd, Miesha Tate, Sarah Kaufman, Sara McMann, Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia.

As for Carano, the 40-year-old ender her professional career with a 7-1 record, suffering a knockout loss to the aforenoted, Cyborg at a Strikeforce event in 2009.

Regarded as one the sport’s pioneers in the modern era, Carano, an alum of EliteXC, defeated the likes of Rosi Sexton, Julie Kedzie, Tonya Evinger, and Kaitlin Young during her four year career in mixed martial arts.

Ronda Rousey Reveals The Only Opponent She’d Return To MMA For

UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey has suggested she’d be willing to fight again, but only for one specific matchup. “Rowdy” hasn’t competed in MMA since losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in 2016. “Rowdy” hasn’t competed in MMA since losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in 2016. The 35-year-old has recently enjoyed considerable success as a professional wrestler and is currently the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.

It’s no surprise that the former UFC bantamweight queen still gets questions about a return to the cage, and on a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Rousey claimed she’d only return for a fight with women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano.

“I mean, I’ve said it a million times,” Rousey answered when asked about fighting again. “It’s not like it’s something new, but, for Gina, man. Gina Carano, she’s the reason why I got into fighting, she’s the reason why I knew it was a possibility. I will always be forever grateful…and if she ever was like, ‘Ronda, I wanna fight you tomorrow at 205 pounds,’ like whatever the hell she’d want – I’m not saying she’s 205 pounds – if she wanted to come into my backyard and do the Rocky thing or, you know, ding, ding and we just do it in the backyard, I don’t care.” (via postwrestling.com)

Gina Carano (left) was one of the first stars of women’s MMA.

Gina Carano hasn’t fought since losing to Cris Cyborg in a bout for the Strikeforce women’s featherweight title in 2009. That fight was the only loss of her career, and Carano is widely considered to be the first true star of women’s MMA. The 40-year-old has moved on to have a successful career as an actress in her post-fighting life.

Rousey was known for being an intense competitor during her reign as UFC champion, but she says her desire for a matchup with Carano is purely out of respect.

“I will fight Gina wherever she wants and if she doesn’t want to forever, leave [that there].

“It’s a respect thing, not like a, ‘F*ck you. I’m not coming to get you.’ It’s just like hey, if you ever wanna pull that card out, it’s there. I love her. Thank you, Gina, for everything you’ve done.”

Ronda Rousey was crowned the UFC’s inaugural women’s bantamweight champion in 2013 following the UFC’s purchase of Strikeforce. She successfully defended her title 6 times before losing to Holly Holm in 2015. She returned to face Amanda Nunes the following year, but was stopped in under a minute.

“Rowdy” was instrumental in opening the door for women’s divisions in the UFC and was one of the biggest stars in the promotion’s history.

What do you think of Rousey’s claim that she’d only return to MMA to fight Gina Carano?
