Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, has recently released a video showing off his MMA ability following on from an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.

As someone who is in control of one of the largest social media companies, it comes as no surprise that the billionaire like many of us needs a release away from the office. A follower of the sport and someone who praises the skills of these athletes Mark Zuckerberg put his techniques on display for the world to see.

Speaking to Joe Rogan, Zuckerberg reveals how his interest in the sport came about during the pandemic.

“How did I not know about it till right now?”

“Since COVID, I got super into surfing and foiling, and then really into MMA. I know a lot of people who do it. There’s actually this really interesting connection between people who surf and do jiu-jitsu.”

Mark Zuckerberg reveals his regret for not starting to train sooner in his life

Having competed within a sporting setting throughout his childhood but never anything like this Zuckerberg told Joe Rogan how he wished he had become involved from a younger age and how now he spends his time trying to convince his friends to come and join his within training at MMA gyms.

Zuckerberg has been training under BJJ/Judo black belt Dave Camarillo at his gym, Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu. Camarillo himself spent time mastering his trade under the watchful eye of Ralph Gracie and has since been passing on his knowledge to his students for over 20 years.

“My mom made me do three varsity sports and my life took a wrong turn when I chose to do fencing competitively instead of wrestling in high school or something,” he said. “There’s something so primal about it, I don’t know.”

“Since then, I’ve just introduced a bunch of my friends to it—we train together, and we like, wrestle together, and there’s a certain intensity to it that I like.”

Having felt the benefits, himself Zuckerberg implemented these sessions into his workplace offering all employees the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of grappling for free along with giving out free customized gis to entice them even further.

“There’s a lot of good parallels for philosophy of life and, like foiling and surfing, jiu-jitsu, MMA, I think it sort of teaches you about the flow and momentum of things.”(Transcribed by bloodyelbow)

Whether Mark Zuckerberg will opt to take a step further and begin competing remains to be seen. Although if he did one man who may be willing to trade blows with him is none other than UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett who called out the social media giant owner after he was banned from Instagram.

Alex Pereira

In what will be the third meeting of Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya in a combat setting, the Brazilian recalled the moment his son entered the ring mimicking Adesanya after he was on the receiving end of a devastating knockout.

Pereira has bested Adesanya twice in both meetings in the first instance beating the current middleweight champion via decision before unleashing a furious head kick which stopped ‘The Last Stylebender dead in his tracks the second time around. This was the only time in Adesanya’s professional career that he had been defeated by knockout also.

Now looking ahead to the third meeting of these two men taking place in the main event of UFC 281 where middleweight gold will be up for grabs, Pereira went onto social media to highlight the moment his son Alessandro entered the kickboxing ring to mimic the impact left upon Adesanya by his father.

“I told them before not to let him in the ring (laughing emoji) (my son Alessandro after I knocked Adesanya out)” Pereira said on his social media.

Israel Adesanya promises revenge in UFC 281 title defence against Alex Pereira

In what appears to be Adesanya’s toughest test to date not only physically but mentally the champion will be looking to exact revenge on Alex Pereira and continue his dominance in the middleweight division. Undefeated in the 185-pound weight class the current champion’s only loss inside an MMA cage came when he dared to be great and challenged then light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz for his title.

‘Polish Power’ was able to get the better of Adesanya using a well-structured approach with his striking and grounding Adesanya to the matt using the physical advantages he held at UFC at UFC 259.

Since Alex Pereira’s introduction into the UFC, Adesanya has successfully defended his title on another two occasions. Firstly, he was able to best ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 in their rematch beating the Australian via decision. He would then go on to defend his title at UFC 276 where he shared the card with his next opponent. Adesanya was able to emerge victorious over Jared Cannonier whilst Pereira blasted his way into title contention with a violent knockout of Sean Strickland on the same night.

Before this Pereira introduced himself to the UFC fanbase with a TKO victory over Andreas Michailidis and UFC 268 before releasing a relentless bombardment on Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Ankalaev which saw him beat his fellow Brazilian via unanimous decision.

UFC 281 will be redemption territory for the current middleweight champion as his opponent will look to emerge 3-0 against the city-kickboxing title holder.

Will Israel Adesanya obtain the revenge he desires or will be looking at the new middleweight champion, Alex Pereira, at the end of the matchup?

Making his awaited BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) debut this Saturday evening at BKFC: Thailand 3 – decorated Muay Thai star and sport icon, Buakaw Banchamek turned in a relatively straightforward performance against Erkan Varol, scoring a first round body shot knockout win.

Buakaw Banchamek, who linked up with the David Feldman-led BKFC banner earlier this summer, was also recently joined on the promotion’s roster ahead of a return to Thailand by fellow Thai striking sensation, Saenchai Saepong, made his debut under the promotion at an event tonight in his home country.

Drawing the Turkey native, Varol at the 155lb limit at the Rajadamnern Stadium, Buakaw Banchamek patiently led the former around the ring through the opening round, before springing with a body shot – immediately garnering a response and grimace from Varol.

Marching forward and keeping pressure afoot, Banchamek landed a series of follow-up body shots on Varol in a quick flurry of striking expertise, dropping the Turk on this occasion. With the knockdown count commencing, Buakaw looked on as Varol failed to return to his feet in the first round – scoring the Thai legend a first round knockout victory in his official BKFC bow.

Buakaw is regarded as one of the most decorated strikers in Muay Thai history

A decorated Muay Thai striker, the Phuket phenom has landed an array of world championships and Lumpinee stadium titles, including K-1 World Max championships in both 2004 and 2006.

Jake Paul

YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul has referred to Dana White as acting ‘like an ex’ following the quick dismissal of any questions surrounding Paul during a UFC press conference.

During a UFC media day, Dana White was quick to shut down a reporter who wanted to ask him a question relating to Jake Paul. The pair have often made comments relating to each other, with White previously taking shots at Paul for being unable to provide pay-per-view level entertainment which he believed ultimately led to the cancellation of Paul’s most recent scheduled boxing bout.

Jake Paul himself has been extremely vocal to the media regarding issues such as fighter pay and showing concern for the welfare of the athletes within the sport claiming that Dana White simply doesn’t care about the people inside his promotion.

Jake Paul questions Dana White’s response to a statement relating to the boxer: “Why so angry?”

During the clip, you can see White shut down the reporter before going on to ask all members of the media to stop asking him questions surrounding ‘The Problem Child’ as he simply “doesn’t want to talk about him anymore.”

Unfortunately for White the same cannot be said for Jake Paul who claimed the UFC boss was disrespectful to members of the media and welcomed any questions they may have for him.

“Sounds like an ex who still isn’t able to get over you. Why so angry? Turning red.

To all MMA media…you can ask me anything you want. That’s your job and I respect it.”

The UFC boss will have bigger things to be concerned about currently as the promotion hosts its first event in France this weekend headlined by title contenders Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa. Although Paul was focused on the comments White made, his attention may soon turn to one of the UFC’s former champions as it is rumored for his next boxing match he will be taking on former middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Despite White’s disinterest in Jake Paul and his involvement in combat sports, it seems unlikely that this will be the last time the pair take verbal shots at each other.
