Henry Cejudo has backed Alex Pereira to beat Israel Adesanya in their upcoming match.

The reigning UFC middleweight champion is set to clash with Pereira in the headlining bout of UFC 281 on Nov. 12 in the promotion’s grand return to Madison Square Garden in New York. He’s coming off a lackluster yet dominant win over Jared Cannonier in his last outing in July at UFC 276, on the same card as Pereira’s latest contest against Sean Strickland.

Henry Cejudo backs Alex Pereira to defeat Israel Adesanya at UFC 281

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, former two-division champion Henry Cejudo shared his break down of the highly-anticipated fight between Adesanya and Pereira. Cejudo extended his support for ‘Poatan’ to replicate his previous performances against ‘Stylebender.’

“I think Alex is gonna get it,” Cejudo said on his YouTube channel (h/t Drake Riggs of MMA Fighting). “This is why it’s so important that as a mixed martial artist that you become well-rounded. That you’re not just a striker with good defense. Because what happens when you get that other good striker that has better striking than you then you can’t take him down? Cause that’s kinda where we’re at now with Pereira and Adesanya.

“As good as Israel is, Alexander just still has better striking. He knocked him out the last time they fought, he beat him the first time. If this fight goes on its feet, I just gotta go with Pereira.”

Cejudo likened the fight to Jose Aldo vs Max Holloway

“Triple C” referenced Max Holloway’s incredible win over legendary mixed martial artist Jose Aldo to make his case for Pereira.

Jose Aldo was the same thing,” he added. “Really good on his feet and great defense. But what happens when you get a better striker like Max Holloway? He put him out. He literally put Jose Aldo out. He put him out because there was nothing else that Jose Aldo had that was a trick in the bag for Max Holloway.

“That’s kind of how I see it in this position with Israel Adesanya and Pereira. I got Pereira by knockout. I think he’s got more diversity and things of that nature. Stop me when I lie.”

Former UFC champion, Henry Cejudo has praised Conor McGregor for his performance against Khabib Nurmagomedov in their 2018 mega-fight.

The saga between Conor McGregor and arch-rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most historic in MMA history.

The feud had been brewing for some time before the bout took place, the build-up was ugly and at times uncomfortable; resulting in one of the UFC’s most infamous moments when McGregor would throw a dolly through the fighter bus window.

The fight was more than just a fight, it was a deeply personal affair and a loss would follow either man for the rest of their career.

Ultimately, Nurmagomedov would prove too much for McGregor, submitting the Irishman in the fourth round of their fight, something which McGregor is still reminded of and criticized for often.

Although many like to remind McGregor of his loss, former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion, Henry Cejudo, took the time to praise McGregor for doing ‘an amazing job’ against Nurmagomedov.

“He did a really good job,” Henry Cejudo said via his YouTube. “A little far shot a little too far away. That just tells you he really respected Conor’s defense. Conor could have got out but he played the distance a little. When it comes to top control and dominant wrestling right now, I believe Khabib is one of the greatest of all time.”

When it comes to dominating his position, so that fight with Conor McGregor, he did an amazing job of being a competitor in the beginning of the round in catching his distance. He was still able to exhaust McGregor, make him think of a lot of things you know looking down to eventually come up with that right hand. This was the best Khabib did in his career especially against a guy like Conor McGregor.”(H/T Mirror)

It is unsure when McGregor will return but the two-weight UFC champion did post some recent sparring clips over a year on from his gruesome leg break.
