UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN’s “Beadle and Shelburne Show” on Sunday evening and dropped a bombshell regarding the highly-anticipated Octagon return of Ronda Rousey.

According to White, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion who has been on the sidelines since losing the title to Holly Holm at UFC 193 last November in Australia, is “definitely part of the discussion” to fight on the UFC’s debut event at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 12th.

Not only did he drop that bombshell, he also announced that Rousey will likely be challenging for the title in her first fight back.

“[Rousey] is definitely part of the discussion [to fight on Nov. 12 in New York] and she will fight whoever has that belt,” White said. “I think Miesha, she’s fighting at [UFC 200], she might fight again before that. She wants to fight. We’ll see what happens. Miesha has been the No. 2 baddest woman in the world for years. For her to stay active right now, makes sense.

White continued, “What’s cool about that 135-pound division is that everybody is fighting right now. The only one not fighting is Holly. Miesha, depending on how she fights Nunes — who is very, very tough — if anything crazy happens and she comes out of that fight with a quick win, 100 percent healthy, she could turn around and fight again and then fight Ronda.”

Regarding Holm, White reiterated his belief that she “went out like a gangster” against Tate at UFC 196.

“She hung in there [against Tate],” White said. “For people who know a lot about jiu-jitsu, she did everything right to defend that choke. Miesha just wasn’t letting go of that neck, man. [Holm] went out like a gangster.”

UFC 205 is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

Ronda Rousey Wants To Return At Historic UFC 205 In NY

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (12-1)  has not fought since losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193 by second round knockout. Every fan and media member wants to know when she’ll fight again, and it seems like we’re beginning to find out. UFC President Dana White said after March’s UFC 196 that Rousey

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (12-1)  has not fought since losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193 by second round knockout. Every fan and media member wants to know when she’ll fight again, and it seems like we’re beginning to find out.

UFC President Dana White said after March’s UFC 196 that Rousey would return later this year in November or December, and the timng for that could be more than just right.

MMA is now finally legal in the state of New York and the UFC has already announced that the first event in the state would take place at Madison Square Garden in November, most likely the pay-per-view event of UFC 205.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the MMA bill on Thursday and UFC brass as well as some of their top fighters were present to promote the event. One of those stars was Rousey, and she was interviewed.  During the interview, Rousey explained that she would like to fight at the event due to the history of the event.

“It’s important because of the history,” she reasoned.

“I want a tie to a historical place like this, and I want to be remembered in a positive way. I’m from Los Angeles, where if something is 50 years old, they tear it down and build a new one. It’s not for my own vanity. It’s for a place in history. I don’t have a single picture of myself fighting in my house. I don’t have my belts, they’re hidden. I don’t like putting stuff out there, but I like fighting for a place in history.”

With fighting’s transcendent queen on an extended hiatus filming movies and getting her head right in order to compete in the Octagon once again, the biggest city in the U.S. could showcase the return of MMA’s biggest star.

And truth be told, is there any other superstar who could headline UFC’s MSG debut other than Rousey? Perhaps if Jon Jones finally battled Daniel Cormier in their long-awaited (and long-delayed) grudge match, yet even then Rousey may take top billing, whether in a trilogy match with current champion Miesha Tate or a score-settling rematch with Holm.

Cyborg: Ronda Rousey Knew It Was Impossible For Me To Make 135

Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino is finally set to make her UFC debut in a catchweight bout against Leslie Smith at May 14’s UFC 198 from Curitiba, Brazil.

Although it won’t be the long sought upon super fight with former bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey, it is a good sign to see the Brazilian slugger finally make her way over to the Octagon.

One thing to note, however, is that the UFC doesn’t have a featherweight division for female fighters. With that being said, Justino will likely have to continuously fight at catchweights, or find some way to cut down to the 135 pound limit.

While some fighters, including reigning UFC champion Miesha Tate, have expressed their willingness to fight “Cyborg” at a catchweight, Rousey has never seemed to budge.

Recently speaking on the matter, Justino admitted that a fighter can’t be pushed into a fight, although she is hopeful that Rousey will accept a bout at 140 pounds with her upon the “Rowdy” one’s return:

“You know, you can’t push a fighter into a fight, it’s better for them to compete because they want to challenge themselves. I like to challenge myself. I’m an MMA world champ, but I fought the Muay Thai world champ because I like to challenge myself. Maybe I’ll lose, maybe I’ll win, but I’ll be getting better.”

“I think when Ronda comes back to fight, all of the fans want to watch me fight her. She has talked about me in the past, she has pushed the idea of this fight, but after that said I had to make 135lbs to fight her, because she knew it was impossible for me. Now I’m in a 140lbs catchweight division, so if she wants to challenge herself and not just talk, we can make the fight happen.” Justino told Bloody Elbow.

As far as Tate and Holly Holm, another former UFC champion, go, “Cyborg” respects them all, but once again admits that she can’t make these highly intriguing bouts happen herself:

“I respect Holly Holm. She’s a great fighter and she has had big changes in her life now. She’s a good person. Miesha Tate is a good person too. I’m here to fight anyone, but fighters either want to challenge themselves or not, and I can’t change that. I can only control myself and challenge myself, so I just have to focus on May 14th, making 140lbs and fighting Leslie Smith.”

What do you expect from “Cyborg’s” future in the UFC?

When Ronda Rousey lost to Holly Holm via second-round knockout at UFC 193, the world nearly stopped.

In order to right the ship, the mixed martial arts (MMA) universe is now calling for the queen’s return. After all, she’s the biggest pioneer in women’s MMA history and easily one of the most popular fighters the UFC has ever had.

But Rousey is more than just a cage combatant. She’s a model, actress, entrepreneur, ambassador, and social savant. She has built a brand around perfection, yet still maintains her international allure on the heels of her first, and only, professional loss.

At the age of 29, it seems as if a return for “Rowdy” is imminent. Several questions are justifiably present if she’s still hungry and still motivated, but there’s no doubt she still owns one of the best ground games in the UFC women’s bantamweight division.

But just because the recipe is there doesn’t mean the cake is going to come out golden brown. Rousey may have everything needed to forge a momentous comeback, but maybe there are more important things to fall back on to escape a life of brutality and overwhelming sacrifice.

And with the former champion who was never out of the spotlight now gone into hiding, you have to wonder if she really wants to come back. If she doesn’t, obviously there’s no reason to risk further physical and mental damage.

Let’s take a closer look at five reasons why Rousey should never step back in the Octagon.

Two Fights To Absolutely Make For UFC NYC Event At Madison Square Garden

LAS VEGAS, NV - AUG 4: (L-R) UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and challenger Daniel Cormier are separated after facing off during the UFC 178 Ultimate Media Day at the MGM Grand Hotel/Casino on August 4, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC announced that it will hold its first ever event in New York City on November 12th at Madison Square Garden. Andrew Cuomo signed the MMA legalization bill into law and the UFC has moved forward with its plans to host events in the Empire state. Here are three fights the UFC should absolutely make for that show.

Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier 2: This one should be a no-brainer. Jon Jones is an upstate New York native and his two NFL brothers attended Syracuse University. Jones lives and breathes New York state. Should “Bones” get past Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197, it only makes sense to unify the light heavyweight belts at Madison Square Garden. Daniel Cormier is on the sidelines with a torn ligament in his knee and the timeline for November should give DC enough time to heal and train. The build up to this fight would be intense and be on of the most anticipated bouts in UFC history.

Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm 2: Putting Ronda Rousey on the MSG card would be a smart marketing move for the UFC. Rousey has tapped into an entirely new audience that the UFC could have only dreamed for. Despite Rousey’s title loss to Holm, she is still very popular among the mainstream audience. The UFC event in NYC is scheduled for November 12th, and the Olympic medalist stating she wants to return in November, the timing is perfect. Rousey has been itching for a rematch and with Holm losing her title defense to Miesha Tate, these two bantamweights could compete for a #1 contender shot.

Holly Holm Says It’s Possible UFC Is Going With Rousey-Holm II Next

While the fight she has wanted since UFC 196 ended last month was an immediate rematch against Miesha Tate for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Holly Holm might be sitting on the sidelines until mega star Ronda Rousey makes her UFC return, as it’s starting to look like Rousey-Holm II is the direction things are headed.

As noted, Tate will be defending her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title for the first time against highly regarded contender Amanda Nunes at the landmark UFC 200 event on July 9th.

On Monday, Holm spoke with Ariel Helwani on “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com and admitted that she might have to wait for Rousey’s return before she gets back into the Octagon.

“It’s very possible [they make me wait for Rousey]. I don’t know what their real thinking is, but they’re obviously a successful business for a reason. They’re a successful promotion. They usually have their reasons behind everything.”

According to Holm, if she does get a chance to fight the Tate-Nunes winner — and she openly admitted she is routing for Tate to win — she will be ready to take that opportunity.

“I’ll be ready either way,” Holm said. “If I rematch with Ronda, I’m gonna train my butt off. If I rematch with Tate, I’m gonna train my butt off. If they give me one of the other top girls in the meantime, I’m gonna train my butt off.

“I feel like at this point, not having the rematch, which is what I really wanted, I kind of just changed my train of thought to just be open to whatever. I don’t want to be so focused on that that if something else comes my way that I don’t take advantage of the opportunity.”
