Making his professional combat sports debut over the course of last weekend in Dubai, social media star, The Iranian Hulk, real name, Sajad Gharibi, suffered a one-sided first round TKO loss to his Kazakhstan Titan counterpart, real name, Almat Bakhytovich.

The Iranian Hulk, who garnered much attention over the course of the last 18 months to two years, was initially scheduled to fight against British powerlifter and strongman, Martyn Ford under the KSW banner, however, the matchup was infamously cancelled.

Lacking any real technical striking over the course of the single round affair, the Iranian Hulk was largely out-struck by the Kazakh Titan in the first frame, before the officiating referee called a halt to proceedings.

Turning his back and shied away from the offense he was receiving, the Iranian Hulk was offered and utilized a bizarre one minute timeout in order to collect himself, before he was eventually dropped by the Kazakh Titan, with the referee eventually then calling a permanent halt to the bizarre bout.

Many have speculated the Iranian Hulk’s physique has been heavily edited on social media

Discouraged from ever competing in professional combat sports again off the back of his loss to the Kazakh Titan, the Iranian Hulk was backed to fight the aforenoted, Ford on multiple occasions, however, the latter consistently questioned the condition of his would-be opponent. And speculated that the Iranian Hulk would fall into a negative mental state off the back of their proposed matchup.

This latest freakshow sort of combat sport outing comes off the back of a notable influx of these types of fights over the course of the last year, which also includes a slew of one-on-two, or intergender mixed martial arts fights and boxing affairs held under the banners of Polish and Russian-based promotions.

British bodybuilder, Martyn Ford has confirmed that he plans to pursue a run in professional mixed martial arts under the banner of European promotion, KSW – after a scheduled boxing match against fellow bodybuilder, Sajad Gharibi, otherwise known as the ‘Iranian Hulk’ was shelved recently.

Ford, a native of Minworth, who turns 40 years of age later this month, was scheduled to fight Gharibi in a boxing matchup, with the two engaging in a face-off prior to the bout, which included in a pre-fight scuffle – before the planned pairing was ultimately cancelled.

Martyn Ford plans a professional mixed martial arts birth in October

Prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ford intended to embark on a professional mixed martial arts run with KSW – and is still hoping to land a fight under the Polish-based banner, later this year, in fact.

“One hundred per cent I am planning on getting involved in MMA,” Martyn Ford told Mirror Fighting during a recent interview. “I am already speaking to KSW. This is something that was set pre-COVID. I have still been doing pieces of Jiu-Jitsu and stuff. They (KSW) are looking at coming to London in October, and that is an event I would love to get involved with.”

As far as potential opponents are concerned, Ford insisted that any potential fight would have to come against the right calibre of fighter for him.

“It just needs to be the right person and right time, my feelers have been put out there to try and get this set up as soon as possible,” Martyn Ford said. “I understand the frustration from people about not yet seeing me fight. I am still training, (the) only thing I am not doing is active sparring. I have switched back into its resistance and explosive power.”

“If something does happen which I am hoping I can sign up too soon, I have been training and dedicating so much time and effort to it,” Martyn Ford said. “I need to do it for my own mental state, to be honest, anyone will understand the frustration I am going through at the moment.”

If their faceoff was any indication, it could be a short grudge match between strongmen Martyn Ford and Iranian Hulk on April 2.

Hulk, whose real identity is Sajad Gharibi, faced off with Ford in Dubai for a Thursday morning promotional staredown. The two of them will square off in a boxing match at The O2 Arena in London in what is being tabbed as the ‘Heaviest Boxing Match In History’.

The two rivals didn’t take long to become hostile as officials attempted to organize the faceoff. Hulk went for a takedown across the ring on Ford after Ford initiated a forceful push.

Ford and Hulk were planned to meet during Ford’s time in leading Polish MMA promotion KSW, but the fight never materialized.

Ford holds a substantial height difference over Hulk, standing at 6’8″ while Hulk is measured at 6’2″. Ford has been training with the likes of British boxing star Dillian Whyte and others ahead of the grudge match.

Hulk will enter the boxing ring with no previous combat sports experience, while Ford has trained in MMA. This will be Ford’s boxing debut.

Bare Knuckle FC continue to add names to their roster but the latest one may be the biggest one yet in Sajad Gharibi. Literally.

Following the BKFC 9 prelim broadcast on Saturday, the promotion ran a promo announcing the debut of Gharibi — otherwise known as “Iranian Hulk.” Gharibi, a bodybuilder, has made a name for himself due to his absurd and giant physique.

He has become a social media sensation as a result with over 450,000 followers on Instagram.

You can see one of his posts below:

The promo had no details on a debut date or an opponent but did include phrases such as “World War III” and “USA vs. Iran” for 2020.

BKFC president David Feldman expanded on the promo later on.

“This guy’s going to make his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut in early 2020,” he said (via MMA Fighting). “We’re going to do a show entitled ‘USA vs. Iran: World War III.’ He’s literally our biggest signing we’ve ever had.

“But he’s going to make his way over to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, he’s gonna make a home here, and we expect really, really big things from ‘The Iranian Hulk.’”

What do you think of this signing? Do you think it’ll be a success or a disaster?
