UFC President Dana White revealed he isn’t much of a fan of his Middleweight champ Israel Adesanya dancing his way to the octagon on fight nights.

Adesanya had a spectacular theatrical entrance with his walkout at UFC 243 when he fought Robert Whittaker for the middleweight title. While most fighters tend to just walk into the octagon, Adesanya has promoted himself and shown to be a flashy character before his fight, with fans and media absolutely loving it. White, however, is not a fan of what Adesanya does before he enters into the UFC cage.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, White explained why he’s not a big fan of Adesanya’s dance moves.

“Well he’s an interesting guy anyways, but yeah, I don’t love it. (Laughs) I don’t love it. I battle with him every time we do it, you know? I keep it as minimal as possible. I like guys that just walk right into the Octagon, they’re serious, they’re all business,” White said.

Although the UFC president says he would prefer if Adesanya just walked out to the Octagon normally, he admits that at least Adesanya can actually dance, which is more than what White says he can say about a lot of the other fighters on the roster.

Adesanya certainly will continue to dance his way as long as he’s winning, and with more of that comes more promoting his brand and more money. Hopefully for White’s sake he can keep it the minimum.

Do you agree with Dana White? Should Israel Adesanya be more serious on fight night?

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has made history by becoming the first MMA fighter to be sponsored by the athletic apparel company Puma.

‘Stylebender’ has quickly become one of the biggest stars in MMA since capturing UFC gold by knocking out Robert Whittaker inside two rounds at UFC 243 in October 2019.

Earlier this year he was named one of two UFC 4 cover athletes along side Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal. Next weekend he is set to make the second defence of his 185lb title against heavy-handed number one contender Paulo Costa. The pair will top a stacked UFC 253 card on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi on September 26.

Adesanya took to social media yesterday to reveal his Puma partnership with  a promo video captioned with the following message: “Whoever said the sky is the limit, doesn’t know about the universe!” Hyped and honored to partner up with a BEAST in the game @puma.”

Ariel Helwani was able to shed a little more light on the Adesanya-Puma deal. The veteran MMA reporter told his Twitter followers that ‘Stylebender’ had signed a multi-year deal to become the face of Puma in Oceania.

“Israel Adesanya has signed a multi-year deal with Puma. He will be the face of their Oceania division but will also be a part of their global marketing plans, as well. It is an apparel and shoe sponsorship. He is the first MMA fighter to ever be sponsored by Puma,” Helwani wrote.

Adesanya joins a long list of high-profile athletes who have penned deals with the company. Just last week Puma announced the signing of soccer star Neymar who left his deal with Nike to put pen to paper on a lucrative long-term deal with Puma.

Do you think other MMA stars will join Israel Adesanya in signing major sponsorship deals with brands like Puma?

Israel Adesanya still wants to fight Jon Jones even though “Bones” has moved up to heavyweight.

For months now, Adesanya and Jones have traded shots at one another and the middleweight champ had the plan of fighting Jones in the summer of 2021. Yet, with Jones vacating the belt and looking to move up to heavyweight many thought that fight wouldn’t happen. But, the middleweight champion says he still wants that fight.

“I still have that in mind, it’s still part of my plan,” Adesanya said at virtual media day (via MMAFighting). “But let me ask you this, how many years has Jon Jones been in the UFC? And he only just moved up in weight, right?

“So why would he or anyone else expect me to move up in weight, when I just got the belt, rather than defend my belt like he has and create a legacy before jumping up in weight. So I’m sticking to my plan. I’m never going to let anyone make me fold, or make me make a move ahead of schedule. I’m sticking to my plan.”

Before any of that can happen, Israel Adesanya will need to beat Paulo Costa at UFC 253. It is no doubt a dangerous fight, but for Adesanya he doesn’t think the Brazilian is as good of a striker than any of his past opponents.

“Even in kickboxing, he’s not one of the best,” Adesanya said. “I’ve faced way better strikers. That’s not even close. He’s definitely not the best fighter. I think [Anderson] Silva is a better striker than him, [Robert] Whittaker is a different striker than him, but can be better.

“Yeah, he’s not the best striker I’ve fought, but he’s dangerous, though. That’s one thing you have to remember. But he has to remember, so am I.”
