Israel Adesanya conspiracy theory Abu Dhabi played part in Islam Makhachev win UFC 284

Undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has shed light on a conspiracy theory which has surfaced, claiming that lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev was awared a victory over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 back in February, due to the organization’s growing relationship with Abu Dhabi and the Middle East.

Adesanya, the current undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, most recently featured at UFC 287 back in April of this year, successfully reclaiming divisional gold with a stunning second round KO win over arch-rival, Alex Pereira.

Yet to book his first attempted title defense as part of his second title reign, Israel Adesanya has been earmarked to return to the Octagon – potentially in September of this year, taking on the victor of an official title-eliminator between former champion, Robert Whittaker, and the surging Dricus du Plessis – who meet at UFC 290 next month during International Fight Week.

As for Makhachev, controversy initially surrounded his Perth, Australia win over Volkanovski back in February – with lightweight challenger, Dan Hooker accusing him of using an illegal IV to rehydrate following weigh-ins.

Israel Adesanya reveals conspiracy theory regarding UFC 284 back in February

And according to Adesanya, a conspiracy theory is doing the rounds, suggesting that it was in the best interest of the UFC for Makhachev to defeat Volkanovski ‘Down Under’, due to their growing relationship with Abu Dhabi and officials in the United Arab Emirates.

“There’s a conspiracy that Chance – my boy, Chance kind of put me on to,” Israel Adesanya said during an appearance on FLAGRANT. “Cause Volk (Alexander Volkanovski) – I was in Perth, I was right there – he’s a great fighter, you know from that side, [the] Dagestanis, they’re f*cking awesome at their wrestling and whatnot. But this guy has a myth, and Alex f*cked him up – I didn’t say this, Chance said this – I’m just paraphrasing.”

“He said like, ‘Look at the movement right now with ‘Fight Island’, Abu Dhabi, the stake that they have in the UFC, it pays them to have a champ that’s from that side of the world.’” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Israel Adesanya slams UFC for poor treatment of Francis Ngannou: ‘They f*cked him for a long time’

Ngannou

Israel Adesanya does not believe we have seen the last of Francis Ngannou inside the Octagon.

‘The Predator’ walked away from the UFC in January after nearly two years of failed negotiations. Last month, the former heavyweight champion revealed that he had signed a ground-breaking deal with the Professional Fighters League, scoring himself a big bag of cash and the role of chairman for the PFL’s expansion into Africa.

Following the announcement, Dana White was very critical of both Ngannou and the PFL. “Based on what I know about the deal, which is not much, it makes no sense to me,” White said at a post-fight press event. “You’re going to pay a guy not to fight for a year, and it’s already been like [14] months. He’s fought three times in the last three years.” White has also insisted on more than one occasion that Francis Ngannou will never see inside the Octagon again after the promotion courted him for months to no avail.

“We negotiated with him for years,” White said when asked if a Ngannou return was possible. “It’s over, that’s over. He’ll never be in the UFC again. … I never say never, but I’ll give you a never on that one. We tried.”

‘Stylebender’ Says We Haven’t Seen the Last of Francis Ngannou Inside the Octagon

Israel Adesanya isn’t buying it.

Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Last Stylebender’ insisted that the story between Ngannou and the UFC is far from over and believes ‘The Predator’ will return to the Octagon one day despite White’s insistence.

“I’m proud of him because his story is very unique, even before he was in the UFC,” Adesanya said of Ngannou. “The story’s not over yet, everybody needs to chill and just watch…everyone wants to be first…this isn’t a guy that just quits. Dana’s said some stuff in the past [about women never fighting in the UFC]…look where we are now! I think he’ll do what he does and come back, and then they’ll pay him what he deserves, what he’s earned, because they f***ed him for a long time” (h/t MMA News).

There is rarely an instance where Dana White has said no to something and stuck to his guns with the exception of Paul Daley. He stayed true to his word on that subject, but Daley is no Ngannou. Should ‘The Predator’ go and make some massive waves in the PFL, it’s likely that the UFC will circle back around when it’s contract time and offer Ngannou a massive payday for the fight everyone in the world wants to see.

Reigning UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya will be hoping that Dricus Du Plessis comes through his bout against Robert Whittaker so he can give the South African a beating himself.

Du Plessis is set to take on Whittaker on the main card of UFC 290 in just under a months time. The winner is slated to challenge Adesanya for his 185lb title in headlining slot of the UFC 293 card in Sydney, Australia.

Whittaker has already faced ‘Stylebender’ twice, falling short on both occasions and on paper, will likely face him for a third time with ‘The Reaper’ being a sizeable favrioute. However, Adesanya is looking for fresh blood and following a bitter back-and-forth with Du Plessis, the champion want to get his hands on the rising contender.

Israel Adesanya to ‘manifest’ du Plessis victory

Adesanya and Du Plessis have recently been involved in a feud, which took an ugly turn towards race, identity and background. Adesanya has seemed to take this beef personally, labelling du Plessis as a ‘cracker’ and now seems desperate to fight him.

Talking to TheMMAHour, Adesanya explained that he would be ‘manifesting’ a Du Plessis victory in order to face him later this year

“I’m going to manifest [Du Plessis] winning this fight in the first round, and when he does, I’m going to be right there in the cage so he can turn around in September,” Adesanya said. “No bulls**t, no ‘I’m hurt,’ this and that, nope. We’re going to fight in Sydney in September. Because Rob is Rob, whatever, I’ve already got a plan for Rob if it’s Rob. But I really, really, really hope it’s DDP, because I will show him who the f**k I am.”

Adesanya would continue, doubling down on the comments, but acknowledged how much of a test Whittaker will present.

“It’s going to be first round, Dricus, f**ks him up, somehow, by some magic, some juju,” said Adesanya. “We’ll make it happen. It’s a hard ask, but again, Player 1, you can make things happen. Really, I’ll pray on this and make it happen.” (H/T MMAFighting)

Israel Adesanya has claimed that he believes his longstanding “story” with fellow UFC champion, Jon Jones is far from over – noting the personal issues both men appear to have with each other.

Adesanya, a two-time and current middleweight champion, most recently headlined UFC 287 back in April of this year, reclaiming the division crown with a spectacular second round KO win over Alex Pereira

As for Jones, the Endicott native returned to the Octagon for the first time in over three years back in March, claiming the vacant heavyweight title with a stunning opening round guillotine choke win over former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Jones is also a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion to boot.

Linked with a prior light heavyweight title showdown with Jones during the former Jackson-Wink MMA staple’s second reign as champion, Adesanya instead fought Polish veteran, Jan Blachowicz for divisional spoils – suffering a unanimous decision defeat in his sole outing at the light heavyweight limit.

Israel Adesanya tipped to weigh up future fight with Jon Jones to boot

Discussing his issues with Jones, amid claims from his co-manager, Ash Belcastro that a fight between Adesanya and the former would always be on the table – the City Kickboxing staple made his feelings toward the heavyweight champion known.

“I’ve never had a conversation with this guy [Jon Jones], ever,” Israel Adesanya said during an appearance on The MMA Hour. “So, how am i going to have a friendship, or buddy-dom with someone I’ve never talked to ? We’ve beefed, I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me, but we respect each other’s skills.”

“I was a fan before I was even in the UFC; youngest UFC champion, did a lot of great things for his career,” Israel Adesanya explained. “Then he called me out and I was like, ‘The f*ck did I do to you?’, so I went back at him.”

Maintaining he has now settled the score with Brazilian rival, Alex Pereira off the back of his April knockout win, UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya admits that he will likely never share a combat sports setting with the former again – unless the former lands light heavyweight spoils.

Adesanya, the current and two-time middleweight champion, headlined UFC 287 back in April in Miami, Florida against Sao Paulo native, Pereira, scoring a stunning second round KO win over the former GLORY Kickboxing gold holder.

The knockout win returned Adesanya to the winner’s enclosure for the first time in his middleweight career in mixed martial arts, following a UFC 281 standing TKO loss to Pereira in their title showdown.

Israel Adesanya plays down a potential rematch with Alex Pereira

And despite boasting a 1-3 record against Brazilian knockout artist, Pereira over the course of their four-fight professional series, Adesanya, who claims that his score with the former is settled, also denied a possible fight with the Brazilian in the future again.

“If (Alex Pereira) wins the 205 [pound] belt, maybe,” Israel Adesanya said of another fight with Alex Pereira during an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “If – if he wins the 205 pound belt.”

“If I wanna bet money on it, no,” Israel Adesanya explained. “‘Cause 205 – I’ve been there, it’s hard. It’s no easy task. But, yeah, if he wins the 205 pound belt though – and they [the UFC] might give him a fast track, like they did with me. And then they’re gonna have a magic, crazy, f*cking epic fight with me and him. Then that’ll be us for the fifth time – ain’t that wild?”

Yet to be booked since reclaiming gold, Adesanya has been earmarked to headline a September pay-per-view card against either former champion, Robert Whittaker, or the surging, Dricus du Plessis.

As for Pereira, the fan-favorite finisher has been booked to co-headline UFC 291 next month in Salt Lake City, Utah – taking on soon-to-be common-foe, former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz
