Undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya is picking current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling to retain his title tonight in the main event of UFC 288, noting a stern dislike for former duel-weight champion and incoming challenger, Henry Cejudo.

Adesanya, a two-time and current undisputed middleweight champion, managed to regain the throne himself back in April at UFC 287, stopping arch-rival, Alex Pereira with a second round knockout to win undisputed spoils in Miami, Florida.

As for Cejudo, the Los Angeles-born challenger makes his first Octagon walk in over three years tonight at the Prudential Center, having called time on his illustrious career off the back of a 2020 knockout win against former champion, Dominick Cruz.

Israel Adesanya hits out at Henry Cejudo ahead of UFC 288 comeback

Offering his thoughts and breakdown on tonight’s undisputed bantamweight title fight, Adesanya picked Uniondale native, Sterling to leave Newark, New Jersey with his title in tow – blasting Cejudo in the process, however.

“I’m gonna pick ‘Aljo’ because I don’t like Henry (Cejudo),” Israel Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “See, I don’t have to make no bullsh*t up and try to justify it. I’ll just say I don’t like the munchkin, I don’t like Henry Cejudo, Yeah, I said your name, Little f*cking b*tch.”

“For me, it’s like, for such a smart man he lets his emotions cloud his judgment and he starts to get real hater vibes because he thinks that me being great takes away from his greatness,” Israel Adesanya explained. “I’m like, nah. You’re great in your own lane. You do your f*cking thing. You can do your f*cking thing, king – cringe king.”

Expected to return later this year, City Kickboxing mainstay, Adesanya has been earmarked to defend his middleweight throne in a title outing against either Robert Whittaker, or Dricus du Plessis in Syndey, Australia.

Demetrious Johnson

Israel Adesanya congratulated Demetrious Johnson for his successful defense of the ONE flyweight world championship Friday night at ONE Fight Night 10.

‘Mighty Mouse’ returned to the ONE Circle for a highly anticipated trilogy bout with division rival and eight-time titleholder Adriano Moraes. After 25-minutes of action, Johnson was announced as the winner via unanimous decision. While the contest didn’t deliver the highlight reel knockouts that made their first two meetings so iconic, Johnson’s skills were on full display en route to a decisive world title defense.

Following Demetrious Johnson’s win, ‘The Last Stylebender’ took to Twitter, congratulating the multi-time world champion while simultaneously taking a friendly jab at the general consensus flyweight GOAT.

“A true master of the arts,” Adesanya tweeted. “Blessed to have witnessed him from the blue cage to the big stage!! Closing the show in spectacular fashion…or not lol. The All Mighty Mouse!!”

Will Demetrious Johnson Walk Away After His ONE Fight Night 10 Title Defense?

Demetrious Johnson scored his 25th career win with the victory over Adriano Moraes. Traded from the UFC in exchange for former ONE world champion Ben Askren in 2018, ‘Mighty Mouse’ has amassed a 6-1 record inside the ONE Circle, his only loss coming against Moraes in their ONE on TNT 1 meeting in 2021.

Going into the bout, speculation ran rampant that it could be Johnson’s final fight before hanging up his gloves for good. Speaking with ONE commentator Mitch Chilson following the match, ‘Mighty Mouse’ was non-committal one way or another regarding his retirement, saying that he would need to discuss things with his wife before making any rash decisions.

Following his win, Johnson engaged in a face off with Kairat Akhmetov, the No. 2 ranked flyweight contender in ONE Championship. Earlier in the evening, Akhmetov earned a dominant unanimous decision victory over Australian striker Reece McLaren to solidify his spot at the next man in line for DJ’s 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold.

Israel Adesanya labelled sore winner following UFC 287 knockout win over Alex Pereira

Undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has been branded a “sore winner” by former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier, in the wake of the former’s title reclamation at UFC 287 last month in a rematch against Alex Pereira.

Adesanya, now a two-time undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, headlined UFC 287 last month in Miami, Florida against Brazilian rival and then-champion, Pereira.

Avenging a prior November knockout loss to Pereira at Madison Square Garden last year, Adesanya managed to land a stunning counter right hand knockout of the Sao Paulo striker at the Octagon fence last month, landing the middleweight title for the second time during his tenure under the banner of the UFC.

Relishing in his victory in the aftermath of UFC 287, Israel Adesanya has been blasted for taking aim at Pereira’s teenage son, Alessandro Pereira following his knockout win in ‘The Sunshine State’ – also calling to receive a Fighter of the Year award this summer at a ceremony during International Fight Week in July.

Israel Adesanya has been branded a “sore winner” following his UFC 287 win

Reflecting on City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya’s title win at UFC 287, former undisputed light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, Cormier described the Nigerian-Kiwi as a “sore winner” following the pay-per-view event.

“It’s (Israel) Adesanya knocking out (Alex) Pereira in Miami, Florida,” Daniel Cormier said on an episode of DC & RC. “Bro, to say that in their fourth fight, Izzy said it was going to be violent. Izzy told you what he was going to do. Izzy delivered and not only did he knock him out, he put him out cold. So, to do that after a guy knocked you out, it goes to ‘The Last Stylebender’.”

“… He’s (Israel Adesanya) still going [celebrating],” Cormier laughed. “He is a sore winner. He’s a sore winner bad, ain’t he.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Urged by arch-rival, Pereira to grant him an immediate title rubber match trilogy off the back of UFC 287, Adesanya has been pegged by promotional president, Dana White to fight either Robert Whittaker or Dricus du Plessis next in Sydney, Australia before the close of this year.

Jon Jones scoffs at fight with Israel Adesanya UFC our careers are really incomparable

UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has made his intentions to retire from the sport of mixed martial arts following his end-of-year title defense against Stipe Miocic – turning down talk of a potential grudge match with middleweight kingpin, Israel Adesanya.

Jones, the recently minted undisputed heavyweight champion under the UFC banner, managed to clinch his second Octagon title back in March with a truly dominant first round submission win over Ciryl Gane – stopping the Frenchman with a opening frame guillotine choke.

However, during his time atop the light heavyweight throne, Jones appeared to be on a definite collision course with Adesanya – who held middleweight gold at the same time as the former’s second reign at 205lbs.

Jon Jones uninterested in grudge match against Israel Adesanya in the future

Failing to share the Octagon in what appeared to be the next big grudge match under the promotion’s banner, Jones, who confirmed his intentions to call time on his decorated career following an expected title defense against Miocic later this year, scoffed at similarities between his and Adesanya’s career.

“I feel like my legacy – my career has passed his (Israel Adesanya),” Jon Jones told Fox Sports Australia. “If this was an ‘Instagram following competition’, then yeah, we’d be neck and neck. But when it comes to our body of work, there’s no competition, and there is no reason for me to compare myself to him.”

“He’s done great things and people say, ‘There’s lots of room in the sky for many stars,’ And he is undoubtedly a star,” Jon Jones continued. “But, I feel like our careers are really incomparable. So, [that’s] not a fight that I need, no.”

Winning his second Octagon title back in April in the main event of UFC 287, Adesanya managed to reclaim his middleweight championship with a second round knockout win over Brazilian striker, Alex Pereira in Miami, Florida.

Alex Pereira urges Israel Adesanya to accept UFC rubber match let's show who's better in MMA

Continuing to trade verbal barbs with career rival, Israel Adesanya following his UFC 287 middleweight title loss last month, Brazilian knockout artist, Alex Pereira has called for the City Kickboxing mainstay to accept a trilogy rubber match with him in order to determine who is the better mixed martial arts fighter.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, managed to snatch Adesanya’s title back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden, landing a fifth round standing TKO victory at UFC 281.

However, last month, Adesanya would score his first victory over Alex Pereira in their four-fight series, stopping the Sao Paulo knockout ace with a thunderous second round KO in the main event of UFC 287 in Miami, Florida.

Despite many backing Pereira’s 3-1 combined winning record over Adesanya throughout their kickboxing and mixed martial arts fighting series, the latter claimed that the quality of his knockout win over the former last month, should gazump any of his prior losses to Pereira.

Alex Pereira urges Israel Adesanya to fight him in UFC title trilogy fight

Taking umbrage with Adesanya’s theory, Pereira, who is set to make his light heavyweight division debut in his next Octagon walk, urged the Nigerian-Kiwi to meet him in a third mixed martial arts contest.

“In kickboxing it’s impossuble now to be better than me,” Alex Pereira tweeted in response to Israel Adesanya. “In MMA it’s 1:1. Be real with your fans and let’s show the world who is better in MMA.”

Yet to book an opponent for his expected light heavyweight climb, Pereira, a former two-weight champion under the GLORY Kickboxing banner, has weighed up potential 205lbs landings against the likes of former title challenger, Magomed Ankalaev, former champion, Jan Blachowicz, as well as current division kingpin, Jamahal Hill of note

Robert Whittaker touts ability to beat Israel Adesanya I'm threat to his reign UFC

Despite suffering two professional losses against current UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, former undisputed division kingpin, Robert Whittaker maintains he still poses the biggest threat to the title reign of the Nigerian-Kiwi.

Holding the current #2 rank in the official middleweight division, Whittaker, a former undisputed middleweight champion to boot under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined since co-headlining UFC Fight Night Paris back in September, handing a one-sided decision win over Marvin Vettori.

The former gold holder has since been booked to feature at UFC 290 in July during International Fight Week against the surging South African contender, Dricus du Plessis in an official title-eliminator.

Robert Whittaker touts ability to defeat Israel Adesanya in third fight

Touting his ability to finally crack his win-less skid against Adesanya in a third title fight against the City Kickboxing staple, Whittaker or du Plessis will tackle the former in a return to Sydney, Australia for the UFC later this annum.

“He doesn’t want to fight me,” Robert Whittaker said during an interview with Fox Sports Australia. “I’m the hardest fight in the division for him. That first one, not so good for me. The second one, nearly. This third one though, I have a really good feeling.”

“I’ve been evolving every fight, you can see it,” Robert Whittaker explained. “If you watch back my fights, every fight I’ve been getting better. I think I’m the biggest threat to him and his reign at the present moment. So, of course he wants him (Dricus du Plessis) to win. It’s a much easier fight, but it doesn’t bother me.”

First winning interim middleweight gold back in July 2017, Whittaker defeated common-foe, Yoel Romero with a unanimous decision victory, before he was then later promoted to undisputed champion, ahead of a successful title rematch with Cuban veteran, Romero.
