Shavkat Rakhmonov thinks Jack Della Maddalena should be careful what he wishes for.

The Aussie standout made it 17 in a row on Saturday night, scoring a sensational come-from-behind victory over perennial contender Gilbert Burns at UFC 299. Immediately following his seventh win inside the Octagon, JDM called for a fight with one of the scariest dudes in the division.

“There’s some scary people in this division, and I’m the f*cking scariest,” Della Maddalena said during his post-fight interview. “Shavkat Rakhmonov, I think me and you could make a hell of a title eliminator. One of the best in the business, let’s go!”

Getting wind of Della Maddalena’s callout, the undefeated ‘Nomad’ commended his confidence, but cautioned JDM for biting off a bit more than he can chew.

“I respect your courage and confidence Jack, but you will face the same fate as my previous opponents,” Rakhmonov wrote on X.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Jack Della Maddalena Makes a lot of sense

Thus far, Shavkat Rakhmonov is undefeated in his mixed martial arts career, dispatching all 18 of his opponents inside the distance with 10 submissions and eight knockouts. Through his last three appearances, ‘Nomad’ has worked his way through a slew of welterweight gatekeepers, including Neil Magny, Geoff Neal, and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. As a result, Rakhmonov currently sits as the No. 3 ranked contender in the division.

Before UFC 299, Jack Della Maddalena was sitting in the No. 11 slot, but after his performance against Gilbert Burns, JDM will likely find himself firmly placed in the top five, making a clash with Rakhmonov the next logical step for both men.

Aussie standout Jack Della Maddalena has his sights set on a welterweight title eliminator with the undefeated ‘Nomad’ Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Returning to the Octagon on March 9 at UFC 299, Della Maddalena will seek his seventh-straight win as he readies himself to take on the division’s No. 4 ranked contender Gilbert Burns. With a decisive victory, JDM will likely find himself sitting comfortably in the top five and potentially one win away from scoring his first UFC title opportunity.

In Perth to attend the WWE Elimination Chamber event on Saturday, February 24, Della Maddalena revealed that a fight with Kazakhstan’s Rakhmonov is one of his top priorities.

“Yeah, to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov in Perth would be my five-rounder for the title, or for the title eliminator… I think he’s the toughest fighter in the division outside of myself, JDM said in an interview with Submission Radio. “I think that’s where the big challenge lies. Of course, Gilbert, I’m looking at that 100%, but if I think of the next toughest guy, then yeah, Shavkat Rakhmonov.”

Of course, JDM is by no means looking past Gilbert Burns, who will be his toughest test to date. Thus far, Della Maddalena has secured victories over Pete Rodriguez, Ramazan Emeev, Danny Roberts, Randy Brown, Bassil Hafez, and Kevin Holland.

Like JDM, Shavkat Rakhmonov is 6-0 inside the Octagon with his most recent appearance coming against two-time title challenger Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson at UFC 296 in December. Nomad’ scored a rear-naked choke submission in the closing seconds of the second round, moving to an impressive 18-0 in his mixed martial arts career and keeping his 100% finish rate intact.

Is Jack Della Maddalena vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov the fight to make if JDM can get past perennial contender Gilbert Burns in Miami?

Amid links to an eventual clash with undefeated welterweight finishing ace, Shavkat Rakhmonov – Jack Della Maddalena has been suggested as the ideal opponent to welcome the Uzbekistan native back to the Octagon, after the Australian previously claimed he believed he could beat the former.

Rakhmonov, the current number six ranked welterweight contender, has been sidelined from active competition since he stopped Geoff Neal with a third round standing rear-naked choke back in March at UFC 295 – improving his stunning professional record to 17-0, retaining his blistering 100 per cent finishing rate to boot.

And expected to return at Noche UFC over the course of the weekend, the highly-touted, Shavkat Rakhmonov saw a pivotal clash with former interim middleweight title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum fall to the wayside amid an injury during sparring for the latter.

Shavkat Rakhmonov teases return at either UFC 294 or UFC 295

Not receiving a re-worked pairing for the Mexican Independence Day card, Rakhmonov appeared to be tuning in to watch the above-mentioned, Della Maddalena’s split decision win over Kevin Holland, posting “I’m still available for UFC 294 or UFC 295.” on his official X account

In the midst of a stunning five fight winning spree, Rakhmonov, who has been widely tipped to contender for Octagon spoils in the future, has landed consecutive wins over Alex Oliveira, Michel Prazeres, Carlston Harris, Neil Magny, and the above-mentioned, Neal during his brief Octagon tenure.

And fans have immediately linked Rakhmonov to a potential comeback in November at Madison Square Garden against Australian talent, Della Maddalena – particularly after recent claims from the Aussie that he had the beating of the former.

“I think Shavkat (Rakhmonov) would be a good fight,” Jack Della Maddalena said. “I would like to test myself against him. I think I can beat him.” (H/T Essentially Sports)

Kevin Holland blasts media why are you so worried about the belt Noche UFC

Ahead of his Noche UFC return this weekend, fan-favorite welterweight contender, Kevin Holland has claimed he has no real interest in winning a championship during his Octagon tenure, questioning the media’s apparent interest in the constant revolving door of a title’s location and holder.

Holland, the current number thirteen ranked welterweight contender, is slated to make his third Octagon walk of the year, taking on surging Australian contender, Jack Della Maddalena in a high-profile co-main event clash at Noche UFC.

Riding a two-fight winning run into his return, Riverside striker, Holland turned in a stunning third round KO win over Argentine veteran, Santiago Ponzinibbio back in April, before finishing the returning, Michael Chiesa with a first round D’Arce choke submission win in dominant fashion at UFC 291 back in July.

Kevin Holland claims he’s not “worried” about winning a UFC championship

And whilst once in the midst of an impressive run at middleweight, which led him to a title-eliminator with Marvin Vettori – which he ultimately lost, Holland remained coy on the possibility of him eventually winning Octagon spoils ahead of Noche UFC, questioning an apparent media obsession with the championship.

“Why are you guys so focused on the f*cking belt all the time?” Kevin Holland asked assembled media ahead of his Noche UFC return. “Excuse my language, but why are you so focused on the belt? I just told you I’m not worried about the belt then you go back and repeat ask me about the belt.”

“I’m not worried about the belt,” Kevin Holland explained. “Why are you so worried about the belt? You don’t even fight for a living, why are you so worried about the belt? That’s the ultimate answer you need. Maybe I’m getting pay-per-view points. You don’t know, right?”
