Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub says he knew beforehand that YouTuber turned Boxer Jake Paul was planning on crashing his interview with Dillon Danis last year on his Food Truck Diaries show.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Schaub said that although he wasn’t part of Paul’s water-balloon attack and troll job on Danis, he and Danis knew something was going to happen with Paul during the filming together in Los Angeles.
“I had no idea what they’re gonna do. We were doing the interview,” Schaub said. “Logan was on the week before, and one of my staff goes, ‘Oh yeah, we have Dillon on next week.’ He goes, ‘Oh, I should have Jake stop by. It’ll be fun, it’ll build the fight up…’ And I said, ‘But I have to let Dillon know.’”
“So Dillon gets in town and the night before, he stayed in Santa Monica. I go, ‘Hey dude, just so you know, Jake and Logan might stop by to do their YouTube thing and build the fight.’ And I go, ‘But I can’t have you getting set up, but I want you to know the plan, so get your mind right.’”
Schaub also said that he’s thankful that tensions didn’t escalate after Paul threw water balloons at Danis and the film crew.
Danis and Paul have been at odds for a little over a year now and have talked about fighting in a boxing match in the near future. While Paul’s next opponent following his first-round knockout of Ben Askren remains unclear, there’s no denying that the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is in the running for a shot at him in the ring.
Paul has made plenty of enemies in the MMA community; including Danis, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, to name a few.
Paul’s interview crash of Danis is one of the tensest moments during Schaub’s time hosting Food Truck Diaries. While the moment was certainly entertaining for fans of both sides to watch, it’s fortunate that no one ended up seriously injured and that legal issues didn’t surface from it.
What are your thoughts on Brendan Schaub and Dillon Danis knowing about Jake Paul’s water-balloon attack before their interview?Do you think Danis and Paul will ever compete in a boxing match?

If Jake Paul is to be believed, there are talks in motion for him to box a UFC fighter, and he has strongly hinted that this fighter may be Kamaru Usman. The idea of Jake Paul boxing Kamaru Usman is hard to believe for many reasons. Firstly, Kamaru Usman is still obviously under UFC contract, meaning […]

YouTuber turned Boxer Jake Paul acknowledges that he may need to build some sort of business relationship with UFC president Dana White if he wants to book the fights he desires.
In a recent appearance on former UFC star Chael Sonnen’s You’re Welcome podcast, Paul spoke about the possibility of working with White in the future in order to book crossover fights with the promotion’s fighters; including Conor McGregor, Tyron Woodley, and Kamaru Usman.
“A hundred percent, I’m down for all the smoke,” Paul said. “It just sucks to see these young kids, these young boxers, these young UFC champions get tied up into these contracts where they’re owned by the promoter. They’re owned by Dana White and they’re not getting fair pay, they’re not getting the fights they want. I believe Kamaru’s manager is already in talks with Dana and I think that’s all I can say.”
Paul and White have been at odds in recent weeks through the media, and White took aim at Triller Fight Club and Paul during his post-fight press conference at UFC 262. This all stems from White’s dismissal of Paul leading up to his first-round knockout of Ben Askren just weeks ago.
Since his win over Askren, Paul has remained in the headlines and has gone back-and-forth with some of the UFC’s biggest stars. Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier got into a heated altercation with Paul at UFC 261 and was also booed by the crowd from the moment he entered the arena.
If Paul wants to fight former and current UFC stars, he’ll more than likely need to build some sort of mutual respect with White. But, that might be easier said than done.
“Don’t ask me about these idiots, who gives a shit?” White said at his UFC 262 press conference. “Do your thing, leave me alone, and go do whatever it is you’re doing. I have no interest in talking to any of those idiots.”
It was already reported this past weekend that the UFC and White had shut down a potential boxing match between Georges St-Pierre and Oscar De La Hoya. It could be a tough hill to climb at the negotiating table for Paul and the drama might just be getting started between the two sides.
Do you think Jake Paul and Dana White should work together in the future? How do you think Paul would perform in a boxing match against Kamaru Usman, Conor McGregor, and Tyron Woodley?

Jake Paul didn’t expect a brawl to break out when he stole Floyd Mayweather’s hat.
The YouTuber was in attendance when his brother, Logan Paul, squared off against Mayweather for the first time ahead of their Showtime pay-per-view fight on June 6.
Jake Paul and ‘Money’ began talking about a future fight. Amid the back-and-forth, Paul plucked Mayweather’s hat from his head and tried to run away. Unfortunately, for the 24-year-old he didn’t get away and a brawl broke out.
“It was sort of sensory overload with everything that was going on,” Paul said. “There was like eight guys around me, all grabbing me, some hitting me in the leg. I’m holding onto (Mayweather’s) hat; I was holding onto his hat for dear life. I was like, ‘No! I’m not letting go!’ That was the main thing that they were concerned about. They were like, ‘Give us the f*cking hat! Give the hat!’ And I was like, ‘Nooooooo!’ And then finally they got the hat. And then, yeah, I just see this angry Floyd Mayweather. I couldn’t believe it. One of his security guards had my shirt wrapped around his hand, and so I couldn’t get away. He just comes running at me, and he’s throwing punches over the security guard, and I’m literally just like, ‘Oh, wow, this is crazy.’ The funny thing about it was that none of the punches were even coming close to me, and he actually punched his own security guard in the side of the head. But, yeah, (it was an) absurd moment, hilarious.”
Paul explained how he imagined stealing Mayweather’s hat would play out.
“Hey, it’s show business,” Paul said. “I didn’t think it was gonna go that viral. I thought it was gonna be like, ‘This is funny, Jake Paul is an immature little kid’ – which, by the way, that’s what I was going for.
