Jamahal Hill issues massive warning to Alex Pereira ahead of UFC 300 the man's in trouble

Sharing a rather cordial fight week ahead of their high-profile UFC 300 headliner this weekend, all pleasantries were firmly left outside the MGM Grand tonight ahead of the pre-fight press conference, with Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill sharing some verbal intensities prior to their huge clash.

Pereira, the current undisputed light heavyweight champion, returns to the Octagon this weekend in search of his first successful defense of the divisional crown – which he landed last November.

Turning in a second round win over fellow UFC 300 feature and another former champion, Jiri Prochazka, Sao Paulo knockout ace, Pereira welcomes Hill back to the sport for the first time since January of last year, where the Illinois native won himself vacant spoils.

And coming face-to-face tonight at the official pre-fight press conference, Hill sported a rather mocking necklace – consisting of a linked chain, and a water bottle attached via lanyard, of an Easter Island stature – which has been consistently utilized as a meme within the community when fans discuss Pereira.

With the stature sporting a swollen lip and bloodied nose, Hill claimed he would leave the Brazilian reminiscing the Easter Island figure come the end of their UFC 300 main event – which the former claimed would motivate him even more to defeat him, during his heralded pre-fight walk out.

Sharing an intense face-off, Pereira would was strapped with his undisputed light heavyweight title in tow, has been warned he is “in trouble” come UFC 300 – according to former champion, Hill.

“Oh, I got what I needed to see, bro,” Jamahal Hill told UFC following the press event. “The man’s in trouble. Y’all can have him picked, y’all can think he the sh*t. Y’all can think he that and this, the man’s in f*cking trouble. Let’s f*cking go. Let’s go.”

Alex Pereira offers a sassy response to Jamahal Hill getting advice from Israel Adesanya ahead of UFC 300

Alex Pereira thinks Jamahal Hill asking two-time titleholder Israel Adesanya for advice is a smart move.

On Saturday night (April 13) ‘Sweet Dreams’ returns to the Octagon for the first time since a light heavyweight title-winning performance against Glover Teixeira in January 2023. Sadly, Hill never had the chance to defend the strap as he suffered an Achilles injury six months later, forcing him to vacate the 205-pound crown.

Having never lost the belt, Hill hopes to pick up right where he left off when he challengers current champ Alex Pereira in the UFC 300 headliner in Sin City.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill

Considering it’s only been nine months since Hill sustained the devastating injury, pundits were quick to question how healthy Hill could actually be by the time he steps inside the cage. Pereira, on the other hand, is not overly concerned with Hill’s status, one way or another.

“I definitely don’t have expectations of him just sitting out, not training because of an injury,” Pereira said through his translator at the UFC 300 media day. “If he signed the contract to fight this fight, he did for a reason. He knows the test he has ahead of himself, so I’m very aware of it.”

Earlier this month, Jamahal Hill revealed that he had sought out the advice of former middleweight champion and perennial Alex Pereira adversary, Israel Adesanya. Hill said that ‘The Last Stylebender’ shared “some advice and insights on what he’s seen and his experience of being in there fighting Alex.”

Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya

Responding to the news, Pereira offered up a cheeky response to both Adesanya and his UFC 300 opponent.

“I think it was good,” Pereira said. “Actually, it was the best thing he could have done for himself, because if he had went and sparred with Israel Adesanya, it would have been a big frustration for him, especially for the fact that I beat him so many times.”

Alex Pereira has gone toe-to-toe with the ‘Stylebender’ on four separate occasions — twice under the GLORY Kickboxing banner and twice inside the Octagon. ‘Poatan’ went 3-0 against Adesanya, knocking him out in back-to-back fights before the New Zealander finally broke through and got himself into the win column.

Alex Pereira not concerned with a potential move to heavyweight

Having already claimed both the middleweight and light heavyweight titles in his first seven fights under the UFC banner, rumors have been circulating that ‘Poatan’ could make the move up to heavyweight in an attempt to become the promotion’s first-ever three-division champion.

Perhaps one day, but for now, Pereira is perfectly content stacking bodies at the 205 level.

“There is no plan.” Pereira said. “The next step is to keep defending the title, unlimited times. I’m not the kind of guy to call out opponents because I’ll fight anybody. I’m the champ. I’ll keep defending it.”

Alex Pereira just smashed Francis Ngannou’s power-punching record.

Days before he headlines the biggest event in Ultimate Fighting Championship history, reigning light heavyweight titleholder Alex Pereira added another accolade to his laundry list of accomplishments, destroying the power punching record once held by heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou.

As you can see via the below embed courtesy of Happy Punch on X, ‘Poatan’ scores an amazing impact power score of 191,796, besting Ngannou’s number of 129,161 by more than 60,000.

It’ll be interesting to see if Pereira’s score stands considering just a few months back, middleweight standout Joe Pyfer provided video evidence of him breaking Ngannou’s record, only to be denied because the owner of the machine “didn’t believe how hard [Pyfer] was hitting it.”

Jamahal Hill ready to take back the title he never lost when he meets Alex Pereira at UFC 300

On Saturday night (April 13), Alex Pereira will headline the promotion’s next landmark event in Las Vegas. UFC 300 is set to feature 12 current or former world champions — chief among them being Pereira who puts his 205-pound title on the line against returning ex-champion Jamahal Hill in the evening’s highly anticipated main event.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill

Pereira and Hill are an identical 6-1 inside the Octagon. Pereira’s lone loss came against Israel Adesanya five months after he KO’d ‘The Last Stylebender’ to claim the middleweight strap at UFC 281.

Hill’s only defeat came against Paul Craig after he suffered an arm injury in the opening round. Four fights later, ‘Sweet Dreams’ became the light heavyweight champion, defeating Glover Teixeira in January 2023.

Jamahal Hill

Sadly, Hill never had the chance to defend his crown, being forced to vacate it after doing down due to an Achilles injury in July. Having never lost the 205-pound crown, Hill is intent on once again strapping UFC gold around his waist and picking up right where he left off against Teixeira more than a year ago.

Israel Adesanya picks Jamahal Hill to beat Alex Pereira by KO in UFC 300 title fight

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has shared his prediction for the UFC 300 main event that sees Alex Pereira defending his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill.

Adesanya is very familiar with Pereira, having fought him twice in kickboxing and twice in MMA. ‘The Last Stylebender’ is the last person to beat Pereira, as he knocked him out to win back the middleweight title, which forced the Brazilian up to the light heavyweight division.

Pereira is now 2-0 at light heavyweight and is coming off a knockout win over Jiri Prochazka to win the light heavyweight title. He will look to defend the belt for the first time at UFC 300 against Jamahal Hill, but Adesanya feels like Hill will KO the Brazilian.

“Jamahal I don’t think is scared,” Adesanya said on his YouTube channel (H/T BJPENN). “Scary knockout power, as well. Alex can get knocked out…avoiding the leg kicks is the tricky bit, and I know Jamahal has some remedies for that… Five rounds, going to be a slow start…Jamahal’s going to try to get his fist to Alex’s head, just like he did with Johnny Walker. I’m gonna go Jamahal by knockout, first two and a half [rounds].”

Hill is currently the betting underdog, but Adesanya likes the American to reclaim his light heavyweight title on Saturday at UFC 300.

“[Israel Adesanya was] just giving me some advice and insights on what he’s seen and his experience of being in there fighting Alex,” Hill revealed during the UFC Vegas 90 post-fight show (h/t MMAFighting). “Just basically essentially those things and how to approach and things like that.”

Hill hasn’t fought sine January of 2022 when he beat Glover Teixeira by decision to win the vacant title. However, he tore his Achilles and had to vacate his belt due to the injury.

Days away from their epic encounter at UFC 300, Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill met face-to-face for the first time.

On Saturday, April 13, the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with its biggest card of all time. The event will feature 13 total fights with 12 current or former world champions in action, none bigger than the evening’s headliner between Pereira, the promotion’s defending light heavyweight king, and Hill, a man hellbent on reclaiming the crown he never lost.

Both fighters finally met at a media event on Tuesday.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill: How did we get here?

Jamahal Hill first captured the 205-pound title in January 2023, defeating Glover Teixeira via a decisive unanimous decision.

Sadly, ‘Sweet Dreams’ never had the opportunity to defend the title. As he was waiting for Jiri Prochazka to return from injury, he himself suffered a ruptured Achilles, forcing him to vacate the title. Four months later, ‘Poatan’ scored a second-round KO against Prochazka at UFC 295, climbing to the top of another division after having already won the middleweight title a year prior.

Pereira’s win put him on a collision course with Hill that will culminate in a can’t-miss clash in Sin City.
