The Brazilian knockout artist Alex Pereira will have his chance to attain UFC light heavyweight gold when he takes on ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill, and according to Oliveira, there’s a huge chance that his fellow Brazilian will walk away with another stunning knockout added to his resume.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Charles Oliveira broke down the matchup and told viewers his perspective on the upcoming battle. Man, Jamahal Hill deserves all the respect in the world, he’s super tough and hits hard,” Oliveira began. “But, everyone that comes into trade with ‘Poatan’ gets folded.”

Charles Oliveira Predicts the Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill Fight

“‘Poatan’ is tough and hits hard,” Oliveira continued. “‘Poatan’ definitely is hungry for revenge too, and wants to avenge Glover’s loss (to Jamahal Hill). You have to be careful with that, but I’m sure ‘Poatan’ will knock him out.”

“Jamahal Hill said he will stand and trade with ‘Poatan’, that he will not try and take him down… He’s bluffing, for sure. Jamahal Hill has the takedowns, and the means to make it happen. That’s the strategy, to take him down. If he trades on the feet, he’s getting knocked out.”

Charles Oliveira himself actually has a fight booked for UFC 300, and he’s facing an exciting prospect named Arman Tsarukyan. Tsarukyan is entering the matchup riding a three-fight win streak, and most notably, both Oliveira and Tsarukyan have a victory over Beneil Dariush in their most recent fights. The matchup is surely going to decide who will be next up for title contention, and it is a battle both men would surely not like to lose.

What do you think about Oliveira’s opinion of the Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill fight?

Jamahal Hill teases heavyweight super clash with Tom Aspinall after UFC 300 I'd like that fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is interested in moving up to heavyweight to secure a fight with Tom Aspinall.

Aspinall is the current interim heavyweight champion and is without a fight. However, Hill is booked to face Alex Pereira at UFC 300 for the light heavyweight title next weekend. It’s Hill’s first fight since he tore his Achilles, and entering the bout, he has full confidence he will get his and raised.

If Hill can become the champion again, he hints at a potential move up to heavyweight in the future for a superfight with Tom Aspinall as he knows he has a heavyweight frame.

Jamahal Hill's early return from injury at UFC 300 could prove disastrous: 'He tore his Achilles clean off'

“I usually walk around maybe like 240 [pounds]. I’m 240 right now, bro. Bro, I’m trying to tell you, bro, I’m a big boy. I’m a big dog. It’s possible. It’s possible, bro,” Jamahal Hill said to GiveMeSport… “I like that fight. I like that fight. Tom’s a great fighter. I’d have fun, I’d have fun fighting against him.”

On paper, Hill vs Aspinall would be a fun fight as both are strikers who would like to stand-and-trade, but both are technical as well. But, before that can happen, Hill needs to get past Pereira and reclaim the light heavyweight title that he vacated after his injury.

Jamahal Hill believes his power would translate to heavyweight

Although Jamahal Hill is focused on the light heavyweight division and his fight against Alex Pereira, the thought of moving to heavyweight is there.

Tom Aspinall

Hill is confident he would have success at heavyweight as he says his power would translate well and would allow him to have plenty of success.

“What the f*** is a power advantage? The game is, it doesn’t matter who is more powerful. What it comes down to is who’s going to hit who first, but we both got power. You can be a thousand times more powerful than me. I hit you first. What does that mean? That’s game,” Hill said.

When Hill will make the move to heavyweight, if he ever will is to be seen.

Jamahal Hill's early return from injury at UFC 300 could prove disastrous: 'He tore his Achilles clean off'

Jamahal Hill will return to the Octagon on April 13 to headline UFC 300, challenging the promotion’s reigning and defending light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. It will be Hill’s first fight back since suffering a ruptured Achilles during a charity basketball game in July.

Yes, you read that right. July…

‘Sweet Dreams’ is looking to reclaim the crown he never lost a mere nine months removed from one of the worst lower limb injuries you can sustain in sports. The announcement quickly prompted pundits to accuse the UFC of rushing Hill’s comeback in a desperate attempt to deliver a viable main event for its star-studded event in Las Vegas.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill

Tim Welch, the head coach of current UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, is currently rehabbing the same injury that Hill suffered and offered his take on the recovery process via his YouTube channel.

“Jamahal Hill, he tore his Achilles clean off, just like I did, last July, which is nine months ago,” Welch said. “My surgeon told me I’m not gonna be close to 100 percent until 12 months. He’s at nine months! My surgeon said, ‘You’re not gonna be able to run for a full year.’ They say these Achilles tears are worse than ACL (tears).”

Tim Welch questions the quality of jamahal hill’s fight camp ahead of UFC 300

The announcement of Pereira vs. Hill was met with little fanfare prompting ‘Sweet Dream’ to come to the promotion’s defense following the immediate backlash. ‘Sweet Dreams’ also attempted to quell any concerns about his injury, suggesting that his recovery was ahead of schedule and would be a non-issue come fight night.

“I’m really curious with Jamahal Hill, how much rehab and how well he rehabbed this Achilles,” Welch added. “For me, I was able to do everything under the sun. I was able to do stem cells, all the peptides, I ate the best possible (way), a carnivore diet… didn’t get real fat while I was healing this injury. I’m only about 19 weeks out from my surgery and this puppy is still tight… He’s a couple months farther along than me, but I’m really curious, how well did he rehab this puppy? How long ago did he start this fight camp?”

Meanwhile, Alex Periera has suggested that if he makes it out of UFC 300 relatively unscathed, he has every intention of headlining the promotion’s return to Rio de Janeiro three weeks later, taking advantage of an opportunity to compete in front of his home country.

Slated to headline UFC 300 in two weeks’ time against current light heavyweight kingpin, Alex Pereira, former champion, Jamahal Hill has offered to meet fellow former gold holder, Jiri Prochazka in an immediate title defense, if the pair win their respective clashes at the flagship event.

Hill, the first product of Dana White’s Contender Series to win Octagon spoils, did so in January of last year with a unanimous decision win over the above-mentioned Pereira’s close friend and training partner, Glover Teixeira on enemy territory in Brazil.

As for Prochazka, the Czech Republic native returned from a catastrophic shoulder injury last November in a vacant title fight against Pereira, dropping a second round knockout loss to the former middleweight champion.

And sharing the card with Hill in a potential title-eliminator against the returning Aleksandar Rakic, Prochazka has been hypothetically offered a chance at gold once more by Hill – if he manages to usurp Pereira at UFC 300.

“I think if Jiri (Prochazka) goes out and he knocks (Aleksandar) Rakic out in an impressive fashion and has a good performance, that’s still a fight that I want, I still want that fight, but it’s got to make sense,” Jamahal Hill said during an interview with ex-UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping.

“I feel like his value is still there and I feel like that fight is still a great fight,” Jamahal Hill explained. Him or Magomed (Ankalaev) – Magomed’s there, he’s waiting.”

Relinquishing his championship officially in November, Illinois native, Hill had been sidelined through a ruptured achilles injury, suffered in a pick-up basketball game alongside UFC veterans and fellow fighters during an event at International Fight Week in July.

Himself also defeating Teixeira to win light heavyweight spoils, Prochazka, a former Rizin FF champion submitted the Brazilian with a rallying fifth round rear-naked choke win in the pair’s main event title showdown in Singapore two years ago.

Predicting a dominant win over Pereira in their flagship headliner, Hill boldly claims the judges can simply leave the T-Mobile Arena after the close of the night’s co-headliner between Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan.
