It was recently revealed that former Strikeforce welterweight champion, Diaz, had just finished filming van Damme’s latest action movie, Darkness of a Man.

Matt Staudt, a business associate of both Diaz brothers posted to his Instagram, revealing that the 39-year-old even had a fight scene in the film.

The movie I was in LA for the last month wrapped yesterday. Get ready for a new, gritty and dark crime story set in LA starring @jcvd [Jean-Claude Van Damme] and features @nickdiaz209 [Nick Diaz] who killed it.” said Staudt

“Nick also has a badass fight scene in the film When it got to rehearsing the fight he took over and of course had better ideas than the film’s stunt coordinator which is what ended up being filmed and looked awesome. And as mentioned earlier you even get treated to a super short but awesome cameo from yours truly.”

Darkness of a Man is an action thriller about Russell Hatch, an Interpol operative who takes on the role of father figure to Jayden, the son of an informant killed in a routine raid gone wrong. Years later, Hatch finds himself protecting Jayden and his grandfather from a group of merciless gangs in an all-out turf war, stopping at nothing to protect Jayden and fight anyone getting in his way.

Diaz last fought in September of 2021 at UFC 266, taking on former UFC title holder Robbie Lawler ending what was over a five-year layoff.

Cody Garbrandt vs. Jean Claude Van Damme

Martial arts movie icon Jean Claude Van Damme got on former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt’s bad side when he made a special guest appearance at Team Alpha Male last year.

JCVD began by taking the gym’s star-studded roster of fighters through a 40-minute stretching routine and then started demonstrating some his famed kicking techniques on Garbrandt.

”He started playing with me, acting like he was going to throw some kicks, and he started throwing hands like slapping at me.

“I was like ‘What the hell?’ Then he f—king kicked me with that hook kick right in the teeth and I was like ‘motherf—ker.’ I was pissed, I was so mad. I looked over at Rob, then I looked over at Jean and I was like ‘Rob, keep this motherf—ker away from me.’

“…I was like ‘I’m going to rip his head off, but it’s Jean-Claude what are you supposed to do?’ All of a sudden he looks at me, drops to his knees and starts crying and is like “My champion!” and starts crying like that, so I felt hella awkward.”

Thankfully, Garbrandt decided not to seek retribution and instead walked out the gym to cool off, but it’s safe to say he won’t be hanging out with Van Damme again anytime soon.

Earlier this year, former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt made headlines when he was kicked in the face by action star Jean Claude Van Damme during a training session at Team Alpha Male.

The ordeal reportedly had Van Damme in a state of disarray as Team Alpha Male allegedly consoled him, but Garbrandt wants fans to know how a real fight between he and the 57-year-old actor would go.

Speaking in a recent interview with TMZ Sports, the former champ gave his prediction for the fantasy match while seeming a bit put off by even being asked about how a fight between the two would play out.

Check it out:

In his eyes – and probably of most – “No Love” thinks he’d handle the star with ease in a true bout, and it’s not even worth discussing:

“I’d rip his f***ing head off. Is that really a question?”

After losing the title to former teammate and champion TJ Dillashaw in a back-and-forth affair at November 2017’s UFC 217, Garbrandt’s next move in the octagon remains unknown.

But with a host of top bantamweight contenders most likely looking to make a name off of “No Love,” you can be sure Van Damme is understandably off the 135-pound star’s radar.

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s recent kick to ex-UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt’s teeth has been making the rounds on social media, and apparently Van Damme has really been taking it hard.

Garbrandt recently lost his 135-pound strap to former Alpha Male teammate TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217 this past November. Van Damme was visiting Team Alpha Male last week to share some kicking positions and techniques. One of his demonstrations was with Garbrandt inside of the Octagon and he accidentally smacked “No Love” with his foot.

Alpha Male head coach and former UFC bantamweight title challenger Urijah Faber was there to witness the entire event, and told TMZ Sports that Van Damme actually took things the hardest (quotes via MMA Mania):

“The guy that took it the hardest was Jean-Claude,” Faber said. “He was pretty upset that he kicked a guy that he loved so much because he’s good buddies with Cody. Cody was just coming off of this hard loss (to T.J. Dillashaw) as well.”

Van Damme was even more upset because of how ‘pissed’ Garbarndt was due to the incident, and he’s a big supporter of the Alpha Male team:

“(Jean-Claude) was so pissed at himself, that he dropped down and got really emotional,” Faber added. “We had to console him. Cody left the Octagon, and I was trying to tell Jean-Claude ‘Hey, it’s OK, this kind of stuff happens all the time’. And he was like ‘Oh, what have I done?’ and this and that.”

“Oh he was big-time upset,” Faber further explained. “Because he could tell that Cody was pissed, and he’s a big supporter of our team. He came out there to specifically show us some stuff.”
