Rising strawweight prospect Casey O’Neill has been forced to withdraw from her UFC 276 bout against Jessica Eye due to injury.

O’Neill made the announcement on her Twitter page on Thursday, citing a serious ACL injury as the reason.

“Unfortunately, I have to announce that I need to withdraw from my upcoming fight on July 2 due to snapping my ACL last week in training. I’ve spent the past 7 days trying to continue on but it’s just not possible on a fully torn ACL. I will have surgery, recover and be back better than ever before you know it.

“I’m so sad that I don’t get to perform for you guys, I’m so sad that I don’t get to fight but I am excited to get healthy and rebuild.”

After thanking the UFC for their support, “King Casey” would close with a promise.

“I am 24 years old and young in this game. I promise you I will be back better than before and the King is still coming for her crown. Love you guys, thank you for the support.”

Cole Shelton would soon reveal that Maycee Barber has agreed to step in for O’Neill and face Jessica Eye. Barber is coming off a unanimous decision victory last weekend over Montana De La Rosa.

O’Neill is undefeated in her young MMA career and has earned four-straight wins in the UFC. She won her UFC debut over Shane Dobson in Feb. 2021 and has had a meteoric rise into the flyweight rankings.

O’Neill most recently earned a split decision win over Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 271. Before that, she earned back-to-back finishes over Antonina Shevchenko and Lara Procopio.

Following her win over Modafferi, O’Neill used her post-fight interview to verbally confront a booing crowd in Houston. She promised to be a “bad guy” going forward. Yet, this vulnerable and inspirational message will likely only win her more fans across the MMA community.

What do you think the UFC future holds for Casey O’Neill upon her eventual return to competition?

Jessica Eye has revealed that she wants to wrestle in All Elite Wrestling.

A little over a week until UFC 272 and Jessica already has her “Evil” eye on another athletic venture.

Eye will face Manon Fiorot on March 5 in an early preliminary bout. Her French opponent is currently on a dominant eight-fight win streak, suffering only one loss via split decision–at the start of her professional MMA career.

Jessica’s last bout was in 2021 against Jennifer Maia at UFC 264. After losing the match, Eye had an opportunity for redemption a few months later. However, the bout was canceled due to Eye being hospitalized for an illness.

It will be Eye’s 30th professional match at UFC 272. And after several back-to-back losses, it will be her chance to get back in the winner’s circle.

However, win or lose, she wants a slice of All Elite Wrestling.

Recently, on February 21, Jessica Eye made a statement in regards to AEW.

“I want to wrestle in AEW,” tweeted Jessica.

Short and sweet. And with a long list of other MMA fighters that have jumped on the AEW bandwagon, Eye would fit perfectly.

She will join Paige Vanzant, Junior Dos Santos, Kayla Harrison, and many others that made cameos on the professional wrestling show. Even the BMF champ Jorge Masvidal got the AEW audience riled up when he made an appearance.

With fighter pay still an ongoing issue within the UFC, many of the promotion’s fighters have branched out, or retired, to acquire money elsewhere. Eye, currently 15 wins, 10 losses, and 1 No Contest, maybe another addition to that growing list.

Her possible transition to AEW begs the question: face or heel? The nickname “Evil” may prompt fans to push for the latter.

What are your thoughts on Jessica Eye wanting to wrestle in AEW?

Tonight, Miesha Tate will be competing against Ketlen Vieira in the UFC Vegas 43 main event. However, it’s no secret who her biggest career rival has been. Here is a 2015 article of Tate taking exception to Sports Illustrated naming Ronda Rousey the most dominant athlete in the world. The following article is presented to you in its original, unaltered form. UFC Women’s Bantamweight contender and longtime Ronda Rousey rival Miesha Tate is taking exception to Sports Illustrated naming Rousey the “most dominant athlete in sports.”

“Cupcake” Tate was quick to point out the fact that Rousey only won a bronze medal in Judo in the 2008 Olympics, so in her mind, there’s at least two athletes that are more “dominant” than Rousey right there alone.

“I don’t know if that’s an accurate statement,” Tate said of Sports Illustrated calling Rousey the most dominant athlete in sports. “I think there are a lot of athletes in the world. Maybe someone who took a gold medal at the Olympics could be considered more ‘dominant’, you know?”

Tate continued, “In different sports it’s hard to compare because we have a fighting sport, versus someone who maybe does swimming or something,” said Tate. “An athlete is still an athlete so it’s hard to compare the apples and the oranges because they’re different things, so I don’t know if I agree entirely on that.”

Miesha Tate returns to the Octagon to face Jessica Eye in the co-main event of the UFC On FOX 16 event, which takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
