Aleksandar Rakic is tired of hearing about Jiri Prochazka’s “fake samurai sh*t.”

This Saturday night, April 13, Rakic will look to get back into the win column after going down due to a leg injury in the third round of his clash with former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in May 2022. This time, ‘Rocket’ will be tasked with trying to take out another ex-titleholder, Jiri Prochazka.

Aleksandar Rakic vs. Jiri Prochazka

Shortly after their UFC 300 showdown became official, Rakic went on the record calling Prochazka a “clown” and denouncing the Czech’s affinity for the samurai code. “I don’t care about him and this fake samurai shit that he’s doing,” Rakic said in an interview with MMA Junkie.

Rakic echoed a similar sentiment while speaking to members of the media days ahead of the UFC’s next landmark event.

“I said he’s a fake samurai because you cannot become a samurai after just reading a book,” Rakic said at Wednesday’s UFC media event. “If you’re a samurai, you need to live [like] this for a long time and not for the last 2-3 years. So that’s why I said he’s a fake samurai.”

Aleksandar Rakic is 6-2 under the UFC banner, his lone losses being a split decision to Volkan Oezdemir and his injury TKO against Blachowicz. A win over Jiri Prochazka would undoubtedly be a feather in his cap, as it could put him in a position to challenge the winner of UFC 300’s headlining act between current 205-pound king Alex Pereira and challenger Jamahal Hill.

Prochazka looks to bounce back from his first loss inside the Octagon after suffering a second-round KO at the hands of Pereira in November. Overall, ‘Denisa’ is 29-4-1 in MMA, and 3-1 in the UFC.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has eyes set on a rematch with Alex Pereira should he be victorious at UFC 300

Following his first loss in the UFC, Prochazka seems as motivated as ever to progress his career and eventually regain his title. Despite being stopped by Pereira in November, Jiri Prochazka will return to action this weekend as part of the upcoming 300 card and will face No.5 ranked Aleksandar Rakic.

The winner will place themselves firmly in title contention and could potentially face the winner of Pereira and Jamahal Hill. This is ultimately the goal for Prochazka, but as he explained to The Schmo the 31-year-old is also gunning for a rematch against Pereira.

“I’m happy to be back in this fast time,” Prochazka began. “I believe after the last fight, after the early end, that end of the fight, if I win [on April 13] — and I hope and believe I’m able to win, to handle that fight — I deserve the title shot. So let’s go for that.” (H/T MMA News)

“From one angle of me, I’d like to fight him, I’d like to fight (Pereira) next,” Prochazka continued. “But, it depends if he wins. It doesn’t matter. Like last time, for me it’s not too important to get the title back, but I want to prove the next step of the mastery on my way. That’s all (it’s) about; about the performance, about showing the best performance every time, and about the joy from fighting.”

Prior to his fight against Pereira, Prochazka had not been defeated since December 2015 when he was stopped by Muhammed Lawal. The Czech had embarked on a 13-fight win streak across RIZIN and the UFC, only going to the decision once during this time.

During such a run it would be hard to not build an image of oneself which would make a loss difficult to face.

A rematch between Prockazka and Pereira is really not the end of the world given the pairs habit of firefights which result in knockouts. The first fight never really caught fire like expected, maybe better luck the second time around.

Who would win in a rematch, Alex Pereira or Jiri Prochazka?

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 300 against Aleksandar Rakic in a critical fight for the division.

It’s Prochazka’s first fight of 2024, which marks the first time he is competing with USADA no longer handling the UFC’s drug tests. Prochazka had been one of the most tested fighters by USADA, and with the new company making over, many wondered if that would still be the case.

According to Jiri Prochazka, he says the drug tests aren’t as frequent as USADA was, but it still is very thorough.

“From the new year it’s no longer USADA, it’s the UFC’s anti-doping agency,” Prochazka told press in the Czech Republic, via MMAMania. “They came to see me last Sunday from Vienna. I must say it was one of the most thorough inspections I’ve ever had. When providing the sample, I felt like I was in kindergarten when we had to pull our pants down all the way to our ankles. The inspection went thoroughly!

Jiri Prochakza enters his UFC 300 fight against Aleksandar Rakic as the betting underdog, and is coming off a knockout loss to Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight title.

Jiri Prochazka plans to ‘realize the mastery’ at UFC 300

Speaking to LowKickMMA recently, Prochazka is confident he will be able to beat Rakic as he thinks it is a good style matchup for him.

“He’s a 50/50 fighter,” Prochazka said to LowKick. “He’s a good wrestler. A really strong guy I think. His standup is not the best, but like I said, he’s 50/50. Good striker. Good wrestler and I’m ready for both… I want to realize the mastery. Not just in the training. Not just in the daily life. Repeat, repeat. Be better. Be better, but in the cage. To show it in the cage. That’s what I want to show.”

If Prochazka beats Rakci at UFC 300, he could very well get a title shot next time out.

Slated to headline UFC 300 in two weeks’ time against current light heavyweight kingpin, Alex Pereira, former champion, Jamahal Hill has offered to meet fellow former gold holder, Jiri Prochazka in an immediate title defense, if the pair win their respective clashes at the flagship event.

Hill, the first product of Dana White’s Contender Series to win Octagon spoils, did so in January of last year with a unanimous decision win over the above-mentioned Pereira’s close friend and training partner, Glover Teixeira on enemy territory in Brazil.

As for Prochazka, the Czech Republic native returned from a catastrophic shoulder injury last November in a vacant title fight against Pereira, dropping a second round knockout loss to the former middleweight champion.

And sharing the card with Hill in a potential title-eliminator against the returning Aleksandar Rakic, Prochazka has been hypothetically offered a chance at gold once more by Hill – if he manages to usurp Pereira at UFC 300.

“I think if Jiri (Prochazka) goes out and he knocks (Aleksandar) Rakic out in an impressive fashion and has a good performance, that’s still a fight that I want, I still want that fight, but it’s got to make sense,” Jamahal Hill said during an interview with ex-UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping.

“I feel like his value is still there and I feel like that fight is still a great fight,” Jamahal Hill explained. Him or Magomed (Ankalaev) – Magomed’s there, he’s waiting.”

Relinquishing his championship officially in November, Illinois native, Hill had been sidelined through a ruptured achilles injury, suffered in a pick-up basketball game alongside UFC veterans and fellow fighters during an event at International Fight Week in July.

Himself also defeating Teixeira to win light heavyweight spoils, Prochazka, a former Rizin FF champion submitted the Brazilian with a rallying fifth round rear-naked choke win in the pair’s main event title showdown in Singapore two years ago.

Predicting a dominant win over Pereira in their flagship headliner, Hill boldly claims the judges can simply leave the T-Mobile Arena after the close of the night’s co-headliner between Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan.

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka eyes rematch with Alex Pereira, labelling himself as ‘better’.

At the time, the booking of Prochazka vs. Pereira seemed a perfect one–two stone-faced and dynamic finishers who have both displayed their willingness to exchange on the feet. On fight night there was a certain level of tension in the air, topped off with a all-time stare down between the two which truly looked like something out of a movie.

The fight never really caught fire, not that it was boring, but it maybe just lacked the highlight finish or bloodbath that was hoped for. In the first, Pereira would hurt Prockazka with calf kicks before the Czech initiated grappling against the cage. With two minutes to Prochazka landed a takedown, ending the round in half guard where he got off some ground and pound.

In the second Prochazka came out wild, forcing Pereira on the back foot as he swung looking for the stoppage. Then it came – Pereira’s now infamous left hook which dropped Jiri Prochazka to his knees. The former champion would quickly try to take the fight to the floor, but some hammer fists from Pereira forced the ref to wave-off the action.

Prior to the fight Prochazka was undefeated in the UFC and recorded some vicious knockout victories on his way to the title. Currently ranked No.2 he is currently booked to face Aleksandr Rakic – a win could earn him another title shot, or at the very least a number one contender match.

Speaking to Full Violence, Prochazka said he is gunning for a rematch with Pereira, feeling he is still the better fighter.

“Yes, I want that fight,” Prochazka began. “Not because of revenge or whatever because I believe I’m better. Up until that one mistake in the fight that I did, that fight was mine and I believe that I’m able to win that fight and win the belt.”

Pereira is currently booked to face Jamahal Hill for his first title defence, if he comes through with a win, he may just face off with Prochazka should no other challenger present himself.
